Late at night when I would wake up from nightmares, I would often just stare up at the ceiling and think about Travis.
I feel stupid, having a crush over a boy who can't even understand himself eitherâ But I can't stop the way I feel for him, and I know that.
I also know that there is no chance that he would like me back, because he's christian. Sometimes I think that maybe he's a forced christian because of his father... But I'll never ask him such a question because it would just upset him more.
For the past two days, I've been wondering how I even fell for Travis. I meanâ He was my bully, and he's not the easiest to get close to. But I can see that deep down, he's sweet. It will just take a lot to get to that side of him.
I snap out of my thoughts when my walkie talkie buzzes to life, Larry's deep voice filling the once silent room.
"Psst- You still up, Sally?"
Another thing is that I've kind of been too focused getting closer with Travis to think about my friends.
I reach over to grab the walkie talkie, holding down the button before replying. "Yeah, I'm up, what's up?"
Larry doesn't take long to respond, "Wanna come hang out with your bestest friend ever? You haven't been down here much lately." I could almost hear the pout in his voice.
"Yeah, I'll come hang out with you, loser." I'm already sliding out of bed as I set the walkie talkie back onto my nightstand.
When I enter the elevator and it chimes to life... One of Todd's favorite songs starts to play, meaning he hacked into the system once again.
I shake my head, a small smile creeping up the corners of my lips as the song eventually stops before the doors slide open.
Even in the dark, I know my way around Larry's apartment. You could spin me around a whole bunch of times and I still wouldn't get lost. I might bump into a few things before I get my surroundings... But I can't help that.
"Larry... Guess what?!" I crack the door open, and Larry's head lifts up to look at me, a toothy grin forming on his lips.
"What?" He raises his brows as I step inside, shutting the door quietly behind me.
"It's me!!! Your best friend!" I throw my arms up in the air, and Larry huffs in response, looking disappointed.
"Aw man... I was hoping for a million dollars and some weed..." He fake cries, shaking his head and holding his hand up as I step closer. "No! Don't get closer to me..."
I roll my eye as I flop down on his bed, staring up at the ceiling, just like how I was earlier... Thinking about Travis.
"You're so dramatic. I thought you wanted me to come down here?" I turn my head to look at him, and he meets my gaze.
"Yeah... Okay... I guess you're right..." But he was still pouting before I reach for one of his pillows, tossing it at him.
"Hey! Last time you threw a pillow at me I got in trouble!! We are not doing this again!" He wiggles his finger back and forth at me, and I was half tempted to reach for another pillow.
I haven't realized it, but I have missed the company of Larry. Sometimes, I've wanted to talk to him about Travis, but... I don't want to upset him for talking to Travis, so I haven't told him yet. I know I'll need to tell him eventually... Just not now.
Plus, if I need to talk to Travis to anyone, I can always talk to Phillip.
"That was your own fault." I smile, and Larry grumbles something out under his breath. "What was that?" I cup my hand to my ear, leaning towards him slightly.
"I hate you." He repeats, his lips managing to pout even more. I wish his face just like froze like that, and he had to live the rest of his life with that expression on his face.
"You look like a blobfish right now."
"Woww!!! Okay Sal! I see how it is." Larry crosses his arms and turns away from me, shaking his head, his long hair swishing back and forth.
"I'm just kidding!!!" I laugh, the image still in my face, he really did look like a blobfish, though.
"Liar!!! You're laughing!" He dramatically turns back to face me, pointing a finger at me, a frown on his face.
"Yeah... I am lying." I continue to laugh, covering my face with my hands.
Larry reaches down, picking up the pillow from the floor before chucking it at me, making me laugh more.
"You're so mean to me when I show you all my love!" Larry cries, but I could barely hear him over my own laughs.
I'm surprised Lisa hasn't barged in yet, because we were being quite loud. Butâ In the moment I could care less because this shit was too funny.
"Okay, it's not that funny." Larry huffs out, but now he was starting to laugh, too. It's impossible for him to ever stay mad at me.
"It's really fucking funny!" Tears formed in my eye, and I could only imagine how red my face was from laughing.
I hope one day, Travis can laugh like this, too.
