CH 8

Time is fleeting. For three days now, Lin Sifei and Luo Ke commuted to and from work together.

The people in the company had become immunized from the initial panic, used to seeing a half limping cat strolling in the company headquarters every day.

Lin Sifei patrolled as usual. At first, Luo Ke was very worried when she ran out of the office, and forbade her. Later, she sneaked once by herself and returned with a bunch of food given by the staff.

Luo Ke, with a cold face, confiscated all her snacks, making Lin Sifei stretch out her paw to scratch Luo Ke in anger. It was given to her by someone else! Give it back!

Luo Ke opened the drawer, put the snacks in it and locked it, “You have too many snacks, are you going to eat your actual meals?”

Lin Sifei huffed to herself as she twisted away. She’s not a child, so she wouldn’t skip meals for snacks. She turned her head away angrily and lay on the table, covering her eyes with her paws and ignoring her.

Luo Ke reached out and poked her butt, “Are you angry? Crying?”

Lin Sifei kicked her leg out, knocking Luo Ke’s hand away. Pervert, where are you touching again.

Luo Ke exasperatedly took out a few packets of snacks, “You can only eat this much, nothing more.”

Lin Sifei turned over from the table happily, looked at her, and waited for Luo Ke to open the snacks for her.

Luo Ke helped her pour it into a bowl, and she couldn’t help but laugh when she saw Lin Sifei look this excited for food. As soon as Lin Sifei heard she would get something to eat, she got up, like she feared that people might not know that she understood the meaning of eating.

Lin Sifei licked her mouth and looked at Luo Ke after lapping up the snacks. Luo Ke squeezed her ear, “Don’t even think about it.”

Lin Sifei rolled her eyes, and lay down on the table again, pretending to be angry. Unfortunately, Luo Ke saw through her intention, rubbed her head, picked up the papers she needed and left the room to go to the meeting.

“Meow!” Arrogant fool, how could you not give a cat snacks after petting her?

Lin Sifei jumped to the ground, raised her front paws to lean on the drawer, only to find that there was a lock on the drawer. Come on, it’s just a snack, why make it so secretive like it’s a classified file?

She pulled at the lock angrily for a long time, but couldn’t open it. With a sigh, Lin Sifei decisively ran out of the office, rushed into the crowd of staff, and came away with a batch of snacks again. This time, she unwrapped them and ate them on the spot.

Luo Ke prepared a fish and meat cat meal for her at noon. Looking at a bowl full of delicious food, Lin Sifei opened her mouth, but couldn’t make herself start eating.

She ate too many snacks, and really couldn’t stuff in another meal.

Lin Sifei carefully glanced at Luo Ke’s expression, pretending to bite at the fish pieces.

Luo Ke turned her head as if she didn’t notice Lin Sifei’s hesitation. Lin Sifei immediately wanted to run, but before taking a few steps, Luo Ke picked her up from behind.

Luo Ke rubbed her stomach, causing Lin Sifei to kick out her legs in shame.

“Your belly is bulging, you must’ve eaten a lot.”

Lin Sifei’s legs stiffened, looked up at her, and couldn’t help but hiccup.

Luo Ke’s face changed to an icy expression immediately, and a new notice was issued on the same day, prohibiting all company employees from feeding Xiaoxiao.

Thinking of this, Lin Sifei sighed. After that, the employees really didn’t dare to feed her. Occasionally, an outside worker would offer to feed her, and the staff would stop them when they started to.

For example, Lin Sifei watched Zhao Min grabbing the woman and whispering to her, “Don’t feed Ms. Luo’s cat. Ms. Luo is very possessive of Xiaoxiao and does not allow others to feed her.”

When Lin Sifei heard that Luo Ke’s image was at least somewhat damaged in this aspect, her heart felt more balanced, and so she flung her tail around and left.

She walked around the corridor, slowed down, and looked around to make sure that no one was there. She hid on the corner of the corridor, cat feet on tiptoes, staring at the door not far away.

“If there is no problem with the information resources you can directly submit it to Chair Luo. If it passes, then tomorrow will be the official battlefield. Are we ready?”

“Ready!” A large roar came from the office.

Lin Sifei watched the team leader hand Luo Ke the information, and hurriedly got in through the crack in the door.

Recently, this group of people worked overtime, occupying the office all day, and their doors were seldom open, so she had no chance to get in and explore the terrain.

“Oh? Isn’t this Chair Luo’s cat?”

She was recognized as soon as she entered, but Lin Sifei didn’t panic at all, and knowing she had the backing of Luo Ke, she openly jumped onto the desk and strolled around, observing the office environment. It was quite an ordinary setup, one desk per one person. The glass room on the inner side belonged to the group leader, and there was a long table in the middle of the office for both employees and the group leaders.

Lin Sifei narrowed her eyes and walked around the office. The book didn’t detail where the heroine left the plan, and it was never mentioned later. The partnership meeting was held in a holiday villa the employees of Baylor rented. The team members were meant to bring the USB flash drive and the plan to the place, but all of these materials were all lost, only some supplementary materials ever made it to the meeting.

It shouldn’t have been lost on the way there, since no one was alone. Then, the most likely place someone would “misplace” something… is this office.

Lin Sifei’s eyes swept around, looking for possible locations.

“This is where we work, so we probably shouldn’t be letting cats in.” Yan Yafei looked at the cat’s head, remembering how she was bitten and stepped on before, trying to calm her anger.

A woman next to her tentatively reached out and touched Lin Sifei’s head, “It is possible to decompress and relieve stress by petting a cat. It’s great that we have a cat to play with, since we have been busy for so long.”

Everyone around clustered up to look and touch her. Lin Sifei shuddered and looked around in “horror” at the group of people with outstretched claws.

Yan Yafei pursed her lips and  folded her hands across her chest, “Chair Luo is so stingy, she will probably be angry if she learns that you all petted her cat.”

When Luo Ke was mentioned, it made everyone worried. After all, Chair Luo didn’t even allow people to feed the cat snacks, so she would probably prohibit petting as well.

As the group of people retracted their hands slowly, Yan Yafei smiled faintly, “Let’s take the cat out, and send the plan over. Don’t make Chair Luo unhappy, otherwise she will have us rework the plan.”

Lin Sifei frowned. What did this woman mean? She’s implying that Luo Ke would unfairly penalize them because of her personal emotions?

She wrinkled her face with anger. Luo Ke was the most serious person at work, and never brought emotions to work. This woman is smearing Luo Ke’s name.

“Meow!” Lin Sifei arched her body to hiss at her, and jumped onto Yan Yafei’s shoulders, her claws going for hair.

“Ah!” Yan Yafei screamed while covering her head.

Lin Sifei laughed, jumped to her desk, and kicked her water glass, soaking the papers on her desk.

As chaos exploded in the office, Lin Sifei meowed, leisurely jumped off the table, and left.

She ran back to Luo Ke’s office quickly. Zhao Min watched her step in, and shook her head helplessly. Where did she cause trouble again?

The plan passed successfully, and Luo Ke started to contact the people from Baylor. Both sides agreed to send people to a meeting place, rest a day to adjust, and start negotiations on the second day.

As the major plot point was coming soon, Lin Sifei couldn’t sleep due to her nervous energy. At night, she tossed and turned, right next to Luo Ke’s head.

Luo Ke took in a deep breath, sat up and turned on the bedside lamp.

Lin Sifei meowed and raised her paws to cover her eyes.

Luo Ke knocked on her head, “Why can’t you sleep tonight?”

Lin Sifei glared at her and turned her back to Luo Ke.

Luo Ke picked her up and wrapped her up in the quilt, “Okay, I’ll give you more snacks tomorrow, just go to sleep.”

Lin Sifei sighed, closed her eyes and tried to sleep.

She spent the whole night half asleep and half awake. Come morning, Lin Sifei felt dizzy and shook her head to make herself more energetic.

As soon as they arrived at the company, Lin Sifei refused to go to the office, instead gesturing to and lying in the corridor.

Luo Ke sighed, slightly exasperated, scratching her chin, “I’m going to the negotiation, and it is not convenient to take you. Zhao Min will stay here, you go find her when you come back.”

Lin Sifei meowed, indicating that she understood.

Luo Ke rubbed her head and let her play. Everyone in the company knows her, so there is no fear of something happening.

As soon as Lin Sifei got out of her sight, she ran up and went to the corner where she was peeping yesterday, watching the group members come out with a pile of papers and tidy up their clothes.

The team leader redid his tie, and then called to Yan Yafei : “Yafei, you can confirm the resources again, especially the plan and the USB flash drive.”

“On it.”

As the team leader and the people around him took some of the documents first, Lin Sifei quickly moved outside the door, observing the “heroine” through the crack of the door.

Yan Yafei had lipstick in her hands, touching up her makeup. After she observed herself one more time and smiled with satisfaction, she picked up the bag and folders on the table, stepped into a pair of high heels, and left happily.

Lin Sifei had already got under the desk in the office and watched her leave.

As soon as the door closed, Lin Sifei got up and jumped onto the heroine’s table, her paws flipping through the folders on the table with difficulty.

This is not it, neither is this, nor is this bunch here.

She stretched out her paw and opened the drawer, which was full of miscellaneous things. Her eyes lit up as she saw a USB flash drive.

She used her mouth to fish it out, plugged it into the computer, turned on the computer and checked it to make sure it was what she was looking for. She tutted twice, this girl was so careless, she even forgot the flashdrive.

Lin Sifei pulled out the flashdrive and forcibly shut down the computer, then wandered around on the desktop again, but couldn’t find the plan files.

She started to worry, isn’t the plan somewhere here? She jumped down, still biting on the flashdrive, and then jumped up to hang from the handle of the door, successfully opening it.

The employees who went to see the negotiation team off just came back and laughed when they saw her, “Chair Luo’s cat has learned to open doors!”

Lin Sifei was afraid of being caught with the USB flash drive and quickly scurried away. She ran towards Luo Ke’s office, but suddenly caught a familiar figure in the corner of her eyes. She made a sudden stop and ran down the corridor with small steps.

She poked her head and saw Yan Yafei was holding a stack of papers and talking on the phone.

“I said I don’t need it. Our company is working on it. If you want to do it, talk to our company. At most, you know me. I can’t take the job directly. If someone in the company finds out, I’ll be gossiped about.”

Lin Sifei’s eyes widened. This delicate tone, a boss said that he would cooperate so casually, was Yan Yafei talking with that main male character?”

“Oh, I said –ah!”

Lin Sifei’s eyes widened as she watched the heroine’s ankle roll over the edge of her shoes. The whole person fell to the ground, and the documents flew in the air, landing like petals.

“Fei, what’s the matter with you?!” The man’s anxious voice came from the phone.

“I, I fell, it hurts.” Yan Yafei cried in a low voice.

“Don’t be afraid, I’ll come right away.”

As they hung up the call, Yan Yafei sniffed and raised her head to mutter to herself, “My eye makeup is messed up, but fortunately, I didn’t cry.”

Yan Yafei sat on the ground to collect the scattered papers, and when she finished, she pulled her skirt down and walked out.

Lin Sifei hid behind the potted plant, and when she left, Lin Sifei ran to the place Yan Yafei was and circled it carefully. She glanced at the crack of the next door, which had a little white peeking out from underneath.

She lay on the ground, her claws popping out from her paws. She started clawing with the edges of her claws, and finally pulled out several sheets of paper.

She smiled. She had often previously wondered how such a big plan, an important document, be lost? It turned out that only part of it was lost.

It’s confirmed now, heroine. Too bad.
