âI donât need the driver. Iâll take him myself,â Esther declared, holding Felixâs hand as they entered the elevator with Bradley.
Bradley departed in the car driven by the chauffeur while Esther stood there, gripping Felixâs hand tightly until the car was no longer in sight.
Reluctantly, she withdrew her gaze, opened the car door, and carefully placed Felix in the child safety seat. She leaned down to fasten his seatbelt and adjusted its angle.
âMommy, are you not happy today?â Felix inquired.
Esther affectionately swiped Felixâs nose and replied, âNo, Mommyâs very happy!â
Curiously, Felix asked in his innocent voice, âThen why are you happy?â
Esther gazed at Felixâs face with gentle eyes, a slight smile forming on her lips. Softly, she whispered, âThatâs a secret.â
Starting the car, Esther left the underground parking lot. However, her destination this time was not Felixâs elementary school but the cemetery.
âMommyâ¦â After Felix got out of the car, he surveyed the unfamiliar surroundings, holding Estherâs hand with a mix of anxiety and hesitation. He asked, âMommy, are we lost?â
âNo, weâre not,â Esther reassured him, holding his hand firmly as they made their way the cemetery.
Bradley, Felixâs biological father, seemed to have forgotten that today marked Tinkerbellâs three-month memorial.
The poor Tinkerbell had departed from this world three months ago.
Ironically, Bradley chose today to marry Liliane out of all the available dates.
âBradley, I gave you a chanceâ¦
âBut in the end, you disappointed me!â
into Felix, with his short legs, climbed the stairs with Esther. He looked up at her cutely and asked, âMommy, did you ask the teacher for permission?â
âYes, I did!â Esther confirmed, not only having requested leave from Felixâs teacher but also considering transferring him to another school.
âThank you, Mommy.â
Esther and Felix arrived in front of a slender apple tree, its branches adorned with a few apples.
Felix observed the tree and asked in an adorable voice, âMommy, did Tinkerbell turn into an apple?â
âNo,â Esther replied softly, squatting in front of the apple tree and setting aside the flowers and items she had brought. âTinkerbell has gone to heaven and become a little star.â
âMommy, do people turn into stars when they die?â Felix asked, puzzled.
Esther sadly nodded.
Tinkerbell had passed away, and Pixieâs whereabouts remained unknown.
Now, she only had Felix.
âMommy, please donât turn into a star.â Felix clung to Esther fearfully, burying himself in her arms.
Choking back his emotions, he pleaded, âI want Mommy to be by my side forever and ever.â
Esther reached out to caress Felixâs little face and couldnât help but kiss him tenderly.
âFelix, do you know who I am?â Esther asked, unable to contain her curiosity.
Felix responded cutely, âYes, I know. Youâre my biological Mommy.â
Estherâs eyes widened in astonishment upon hearing his answer. She asked with wide eyes, â Felix, when did you find out that Iâm your biological Mommy?â
âIt was that day in the hospital. She said it herself, and I overheard it,â Felix promptly revealed, sharing everything he knew with Esther.
