âName a price?â Cole asked nicely.
The biker was still angry and stated an amount that even he found ridiculous without thinking twice.â
$150,000.â
Cole did not expose him and wired the sum to him through his phone directly, adding a note that this was the fee for the motorcycle while he did.
âThis is my business card. If itâs not a problem, give me your number too, and Iâll have someone contact you for the ownership transfer.â
The motorcycle was not even worth $150,000, but desperate times called for desperate measures.
Cole generously paid and saved the bikerâs number before bidding him goodbye nicely, leaving the latter to stare, at the new amount in his bank account. It felt like a dream.
âZack, how much longer?â
Zack glanced at the navigation system and answered, âItâs probably another 20 minutes.â
âIâll go get a shared electric bike and head to the hospital first.â Cole got a bike by the roadside and rode it to the hospital as fast as possible.
Just as he parked the bike outside the hospital gate, his phone rang.
âHello, Mr. Johnston? Itâs me. The DNA paternity test results that you entrusted me with yesterday are out. Come to me to collect the results when youâre free.â
Cole replied swiftly, âSure. I have something urgent to attend to right now. Iâll go to you later.â
He then rushed to Felixâs hospital ward. The hallway outside the room was crowded with medical staff.
Bradleyâs furious figure was particularly eye-catching among them.
âEsther Quill! If you donât open the door by the time I count to three, Iâllâ¦â
Bradleyâs eyes gleamed coldly as he looked extremely fierce.
Liliane burst into tears but grabbed Bradleyâs arm tightly to plead hypocritically, âBrad, please donât provoke her anymore.â
Bradley coldly replied, âLiliane, crying wonât solve anything.
âBut Felixâs inside. Brad, give me some time to convince her. If it doesnât workâ¦â Lilianeâs eyes.
flickered slightly as she said with a vicious thought, âThen Iâll leave it to you, okay?â
Bradleyâs expression turned cold, and he said, âFive minutes.â
âOkay.â Liliane walked to the door and knocked it lightly with two knuckles.
She spoke softly after three knocks. âEsther, you wanted to see me, right? Iâm here! Open the door and let me in.â
Esther had a sinking feeling in her heart and a strong sense of hatred in her deep gaze once she heard. Lilianeâs voice from where she was inside. She turned to the side and looked at the unconscious Felix, saying in a low voice, âIâm sorry, Felix. Please forgive me for using you as a bargaining chip. I⦠I had no choice.â
Liliane was too good at disguising herself. Everyone, including Bradley, did not believe Estherâs words.
Esther was the only one in this world who knew that the person who had removed Thomasâ oxygen mask back then was Liliane, not her.
Esther knew that Liliane was a very cautious person. She had not planned to use her phone to record anything from the beginning. Instead, she stuffed a pen recorder that was already recording under Felixâs pillow.
âLiliane, Iâve turned on the oxygen in the room. If you barge in, Iâll light up a fire directly and die with Felix.â
Liliane stood before the door and said hoarsely, âEsther, I⦠Iâll come in alone. Donât hurt Felix.â
Bradley was furious upon hearing Estherâs threat. He wanted nothing more than to barge into the hospital ward and rip Esther to shreds. Five minutes? He did not even want to wait a minute longer right now.
âEsther Quill!â Bradley slammed on the door and said violently, âIâm counting to three. Iâll make sure your daughter doesnât rest in peace if you donât open the door!â
