Esther had unknowingly written over 1,000 words, capturing their first encounter, deep affection for him, misunderstandings, and final decision to part ways.
As words turned into sentences, their once passionate and sweet love faded into a distant memory between the lines.
Finishing her letter, Esther couldnât hold back her emotions any longer. She hugged her knees, burying her head in her arms, and burst into tears.
After a while, Esther wiped her tears and sent the document to Tanya.
Initially, Tanya did not intend to read it, but her curiosity got the better of her. Estherâs words carried a strong sense of immersion, allowing Tanya to witness a young girlâs pure passion burning throughout her youth.
Tanya: [Got it. Iâll notify you when itâs ready to be published. Feel free to register an account when itâs ready. Leave the rest to me.]
The mountainous workload of the auditing team prevented Bradley from leaving the city. Despite his anger, he endured the audit, anxiously checking his emails for something new.
Yet, nothing arrived. As a result, Bradleyâs mood grew colder and gloomier, the atmosphere mirroring his emotions.
Kevin knocked on Bradleyâs office door and called out, âBradley.â
Displeased, Bradley asked, âAre you here to ridicule me?â
Kevin had received a call from Tanya. She had informed him that Esther was planning to divorce Bradley and wanted Kevin to testify against him in court.
A part of Kevin was still selfish, as he didnât want to see Bradley and Estherâs marriage dissolve.
âDo you know where Esther is, Bradley?â Kevin asked again.
Bradley sneered, his eyes flashing with a sinister glimmer. âI knew it. That woman is still alive! She must have many more tricks up her sleeve. She made Jasper and the Quills help her fake her death to escape from me. But Iâll make her come back willingly!â
A cold chill ran down Kevinâs spine. âHave you ever considered why she wanted to escape from you, Bradley?â
âWhy should I care?â Bradley responded coldly.
Kevin continued, showing some resentment as he spoke. âI was relieved to know she hadnât drowned in the sea and died⦠I thought the shackles in my heart had finally come off. But during her absence, I was haunted by nightmares, feeling the despair of drowning in the past. Whenever I woke up, I realized I would have died if Esther hadnât asked you to come to save me. So, Iâm glad sheâs still alive, and it eases my guilt toward her.â
Clearly unhappy with what he heard, Bradley demanded, âIf youâre here to plead on her behalf, leave!â
âBradley, weâre adults who should take responsibility for our actions,â Kevin insisted, wanting to convince Bradley to do the right thing. âPlease stop pushing her into a corner. Youâve already driven her to escape you. Are you going to force her to take her own life now? Is the only way youâll let her go if she dies in front of your eyes?â
âThis is my problem, Kevin, not yours!â Bradley shot Kevin a cold and sinister glare. âIâm the one who decides what Esther does and whether she lives or dies! Me!â
âBradley!â Kevin finally broke down mentally, realizing how unhinged Bradley had become.â Youâre crazy! Truly crazy! You should see a psychiatrist right now!â
âKevinâ¦â Bradley snickered and spoke through gritted teeth. âYouâre the one whoâs crazy. Now, leave!â
