The doctor looked at the two handsome men in front of him and contemplated before professionally and carefully explaining Esther’s state in the operation ward.

“Ms. Quill has just undergone a bone marrow transplant surgery and has been emotionally stressed.

Her body is under attack from both the inside and outside, so there are issues with her health. As doctors, we’ll do our best to save her. Please sign the critical illness notice immediately and don’t delay treatment.”

“I’ll sign it.”

Jasper took the critical illness notice without any argument. His hand was trembling so much that he could not even hold the pen, let alone sign the critical illness notice.

Cole could not bear to watch and took the critical illness notice from Jasper’s hand and calmly signed his own name on it.

“Will she die?” Jasper’s voice was trembling.

“It’s not a matter of whether she will die now but whether she wants to live,” Cole said wearily.

Jasper’s sharp eyes fell on Cole’s face as he asked in a low voice, “What do you mean by that?” “Half an hour ago, Madam kidnapped Mr. Felix and claimed that he would be buried with Tinkerbell!” “Felix’s okay?” Jasper sneered and asked surely as he slowly leaned against the wall outside the operating room.

“He’s fine.” Cole asked confusedly, “Why? Did you wish something bad upon him?”

Jasper took a deep look at Cole. As the hallway light shone on Cole’s face, there was nonchalance but also iciness.

“She did it on purpose, to provoke Bradley.” Jasper covered his face with both hands and said shakily, “She didn’t want to live anymore. Maybe she did it because she wanted to die in the hands of the man she loves the most.”

Cole was shocked and panicked. “How’s that possible? Madam is still so young.”

“But she has nothing.” Jasper turned around, propping himself up against the wall with his hands. and burying his head in his arms. He hoarsely explained, “The man she loved sent her to prison for five years, and her daughter, who she was related to by blood, died because she missed the optimal time for treatment due to Bradley’s forced imprisonment. Cole, she has no friends, no lover, and not family in this world. Do you think she still has any attachment to this world?”

Jasper’s heart sank like a stone as if he had fallen into a bottomless abyss.

Cole’s gaze was empathetic. He looked at Jasper and opened his mouth but found that Jasper’s words made a lot of sense.

Esther had nothing and had lost all attachments to this world.

Cole suddenly thought of what Esther had told Liliane in the ward and could not help but feel a little suspicious.

Did the fact that Esther had forced Liliane to reveal the truth about five years ago mean that Liliane was actually the one who had caused Thomas’ accident?

Cole stood quietly outside the operating room, his mind wandering over everything that had happened five years ago.

Esther had never admitted that the person in the surveillance video was her. Back then, everyone had been under the impression that she was arguing shamelessly because there were witnesses and evidence.

What if Esther was telling the truth? What if she really was not the one who had pulled the oxygen mask and caused Thomas’ condition to worsen until it was untreatable?

The phone’s vibration disrupted Cole’s train of thought. He pulled his phone out of the suit jacket and answered hoarsely, “Mr. Warner.”

“Where’s Esther Quill right now?”

Once Bradley settled Felix down, he wanted to settle the score with Esther.

“She’s in the operating room right now.”

Cole’s voice was laced with grief.

Bradley mocked coldly, “What trick is she playing now?”
