Felixâs move from the ICU to the regular ward had reached Bradley through Kevin. However, Felix wasnât in a hospital owned by the Warner Group.
Meanwhile, Oliverâs bodyguards were guarding the hospital, yet Bradley, caring for Felix, didnât insist on entering. Instead, he thought about discussing with Esther the chance to visit Felix.
What surprised Bradley was that, despite changing six phones to reach Esther, she still avoided any communication. As such, he sat in the hospital garden, looking sad as he watched the wardâs faint light.
He knew Felix was awake. He just wanted to see Felix. But Esther wouldnât allow it. She remained as cold as always.
Bradley sat on a bench, focused on his tablet for business matters.
Today, Clark also learned about Felixâs accident. He brought fruits Felix liked and approached Bradley.
âSir, I want to go upstairs and see Felix.â
âShe wonât let you.â
His handsome face showed some coldness. He remembered the recent briefing from the legal team.
Felixâs accident happened in his car, a disadvantage in the custody battle. They warned him that the opposing lawyer might use it against him in court.
Felix carried the Warner name, a future inheritor of the Warner Group. Estherâs hope to get Felixâs custody? Bradley saw it as an unrealistic idea.
âI want to try,â Clark said.
Bradleyâs response was distant as he kept working. âDo as you wish.â
Clark sighed. After telling the security, he was taken to the ward with Estherâs approval.
âGrandpaw Clark,â Felix called out.
Clark softened, looking at the bandaged boy. He asked with concern, âFelix, does it hurt?â
âIt doesnât hurt, Grandpaw Clark. Iâm a little man, and I have to look after Mommy.â
A faint touch of emotion tinged Clarkâs eyes as he murmured, âFelix, youâre such a good boy.â
After sharing a brief conversation with Felix, Clark turned his attention to Esther. âEsther, can we talk?â
Esther and Clark stepped out onto the balcony.
Observing Bradley seated on the garden bench, Clark heaved a heartfelt sigh. âEsther, if Mr. Thomas were here, he wouldnât wish to see you two like this.â
âClark, if youâre here to plead for Bradley, donât bother,â Esther replied, her tone carrying a frigid resolve.
âBradley might believe Iâm responsible for Grandpa Thomasâ death, and he might take revenge on me.
He can seek retribution against me all he wants, but what has my child done to deserve this? What right does he have to secretly abduct my child? What right does he have to threaten me with my child? Felixâs accident wouldnât have occurred if not for his overbearing ways.â
âIs divorce truly inevitable?â Clark still wanted to plead for Bradley.
âClark, if youâre here to see Felix, to spend time with him, youâre more than welcome. But if youâre here to plead for Bradley, please never come again.â
Estherâs words were filled with sadness that deeply affected Clark, making all his attempts to convince her completely useless.
