Bradley and Kevin spent the entire night in the records room of the welfare institution. It had been so long that they struggled to confirm whether the twins in question were Bradley and Estherâs daughters from the existing documents.
To be cautious, Bradley and Kevin made copies of all the documents and planned to study them carefully.
When Kevin left the welfare institution, he felt dizzy and drowsy.
âKevin, since you work in the medical field, can you find out what happened to Esther in prison back then?â Bradley asked. Bradley hadnât slept all night and had bloodshot eyes.
Kevin felt grateful to Esther and Bradley for their help, so he couldnât refuse. âI donât mind, but investigating something from five years ago wonât be easy. I canât promise results.â
Bradley gazed at the vibrant sunrise on the horizon with a serious expression. âThere must be some traces left. What happened five years ago must have left clues.â
âAlright,â Kevin agreed, not wanting to argue. âBradley, take a cab back by yourself. I need to get ready.
I have a meeting later.
âOkay.â
Bradley flagged down a taxi on the roadside. Once inside, he told the driver to take him to Warner Manor.
The driver hesitated, looking at Bradley through the rearview mirror. He recalled the gossip his wife had shared the previous night. Although he wanted to refuse, he lacked the courage. He stepped on the gas and left the welfare institution.
The staff member at the welfare institutionâs gate watched Bradley leave and then called Camila.
âMadam Jenner, Mr. Warner has departed.â
Bradley leaned wearily against the seat, watching the scenery pass through the car window. Just then, Jonathanâs call came in.
âMr. Warner, regarding the division of the assets in the divorceâ¦â
Bradley remained silent for a while before issuing a chilling command, âI wonât divorce. Prepare for an appeal.â
Jonathan hesitated. Even if they appealed, given the evidence Estherâs lawyer had provided, the chances of overruling the verdict were quite slim.
âMr. Warner, our odds of winning arenât high.â
Bradley gritted his teeth, his gaze on the documents in his hand. His tone was icy. âThen find new evidence. I donât care how you do it. I just want to win.â
âIâll do my best,â Jonathan replied.
The driver glanced at Bradley through the rearview mirror and offered some friendly advice, âMr.
Warner, women are meant to be cherished, not-â
âshut up!â
The driver parked the car at the side of the road in anger. âGet out of the car!â
Bradley raised an eyebrow and threatened, âIâll count to three. If you donât start driving, Iâll complain directly to your taxi company!â
âFine by me.â The driver grumbled, âI just canât stand men like you. Youâre supposed to cherish your wife. Do you f*cking know how many men in this world couldnât get a wife?
âDonât get married if you canât cherish your wife! If my daughter meets a scum like you in the future, Iâll kill him with a cleaver! Who do you think you are just because youâre rich?!â
The previous night, after work, the driver had returned home and noticed that his wife had been in a bad mood. She had heard about Bradley and Estherâs divorce case, which upset her. At first, he couldnât understand why she was so angry about the divorce of people they didnât know. But today, he finally did.
Bradley was not a real man, it seemed,
