Clark was the one who had collected the samples for Bradley and Felixâs DNA paternity test and picked up the report in the hospital. Up till now, the test report was still in his safe.
Lilianeâs mother had said back then that since Bradley would not marry Liliane, she had prohibited her from becoming an unmarried mother.
Liliane, who had rushed over after catching wind of it, had gotten on her knees on a rainy night to beg Bradley to return Felix to her so they would not be separated. She had passed out after that.
From that day onward, Bradley had also silently acknowledged Lilianeâs presence around Felix.
A DNA maternity test sufficed to prove whether Felix was or was not Estherâs son. However, even if Felixâs birth was confirmed, how had Liliane taken Felix away from Esther back then?
âMr. Felix, donât tell anyone about this tonight.â Clark held Felixâs hand and said seriously, Especially in front of Liliane. Donât show that you know about your birth. If all this is true, that woman is terrifying.â
The woman had begun planning five years ago. Each step was calculated with precision. If a woman like her found out that Felix knew her secret, then⦠Felix would be in danger.
âBut Daddyâs getting married to her!â Felix was filled with worry.
Clark reached out and gently patted Felixâs head, soothingly saying, âMr. Felix, your most important task right now is to take care of yourself and strive to reunite with Madam as soon as possible.â
âShe doesnât know that I am her son yet.â Felix lowered his head, his face sad and lonesome. âShe fainted and coughed out blood.â
âIt doesnât matter if she doesnât know. Our Mr. Felix knows.â Clark encouraged him. âMr. Felixâs a little man and will protect her, right?â
âIâm super brave!â
âOur Mr. Felixâs as brave as Thor!â
Felix had just undergone surgery and was still in the recovery period, so Clark did not keep him on the rooftop for too long. He secretly took some of Felixâs hair, intending to visit Esther tomorrow and take some of her hair or blood to redo the DNA maternity test.
He could not simply rely on Lilianeâs words alone to determine that Esther was Felixâs mother. He believed that science would give him a perfect answer.
âClark, thank you.â
When Clark and Felix returned to the hospital room from the rooftop, Bradleyâs mood had returned to normal.
Felix obediently lay on the hospital bed, and Clark put on his favorite clips of The Avengers.
âMr. Bradley, I heard that youâre going to marry Ms. Anstey?â
Bradleyâs burning gaze fell on Felix, and he spoke frankly. âAfter Felix recovers, heâll be starting elementary school soon. Sometimes, the school requires mothers to participate in parent activities. If I donât get married and give her a status, Felix will be laughed at by his classmates.â
Clark readily expressed his understanding. âYour marriage is a big deal. Thereâs no need to rush it. If you and Ms. Anstey donât mind, I can take care of it for you.â
âThank you for the kind offer, Clark.â Liliane came out of the bathroom, her smile bright like a blooming flower. âI have nothing to do, so I can talk to the wedding planning company myself. If youâre free, could you please take care of Felix at the hospital? Iâm afraid that I wonât have time to take care of him when I get busy.â
Clark looked at Felix, who had closed his eyes and was resting, with a loving gaze and said, âMs.
Anstey, if you ever become unavailable, I can take care of Felix anytime.â
Liliane walked to Bradleyâs side and hugged his arm, joking intimately, âIf Grandpa Thomas were still alive, heâd be happy to see Felix recover and our family happy and content, right, Brad?â Clarkâs burning gaze immediately caught the flash of viciousness deep in Lilianeâs eyes.
