Chapter 543

Esther had a sudden premonition. She felt that her liver might be a match for Bradley’s.

“What do you have to save him?” Kevin was furious and yelled, “Esther, have you truly gone mad? I don’t want to talk to you anymore, and don’t ask me to match you! I’m a doctor! I won’t commit murder!”

After saying that, Kevin stormed out of the room and smacked himself hard in the face.

‘Kevin, why did you have to speak without thinking? Your mouth could have been used to save someone’s life!

‘Why did you bring up Bradley’s illness in front of Esther? You know she is a kind-hearted girl. How could she not want to help him, especially since he’s Felix’s father?’

Kevin was so frustrated with himself that he slapped himself twice more.

In the hospital ward, Esther used her phone to search for information about liver cancer. When she discovered that liver problems could cause extreme mood swings, she wiped away her tears, wondering if Bradley had been sick all along. She just hadn’t realized it!

She recalled the past five years, ever since Thomas had his accident and Bradley took over the Warner Group. He had been under tremendous pressure from all sides, and Felix had also fallen ill, requiring a bone marrow transplant. Bradley probably hadn’t had proper rest or relaxation during these five years.

Esther suppressed the bitterness in her heart and considered Bradley’s current imprisonment. Having experienced imprisonment, she knew the conditions were terrible. Given Bradley’s illness, it was clear he couldn’t stay there.

“Sadie…” Esther murmured.

Sadie answered Esther’s call with concern, “What’s troubling you, Esther?”

“Sadie, I want to visit Bradley at the detention center.”

Strangely, when Esther learned about Bradley’s liver cancer, her initial reaction wasn’t relief but rather concern. Her heart ached, and she struggled to catch her breath.

“Esther, why do you want to see him?” Sadie snorted and reassured her, “Don’t worry. We won’t let him. stay in jail for Felix’s sake. We’re just making him suffer a bit for now. Otherwise, he’ll think you have no one backing you and that the Quills are easy to bully.”

“Sadie, he’s sick!” Esther put a hand over her aching chest and sobbed. “He has liver cancer.”

Sadie seemed not to have heard Esther’s words and asked in shock, “Esther, what did you just say?

Bradley has liver cancer?”

“Yes.” Esther teared up.

Sadie reacted with great excitement. “He deserves it. This is his retribution.”

“Is it really retribution?’ Esther wondered. ‘What if I had not been framed back then? Would everything have turned out differently?”

“Esther, are you feeling sorry for him now?” Sadie asked.

Esther suppressed her pain and choked out, “He is Felix’s biological father, after all.”

Sadie scoffed. “Bradley never once considered you as Felix’s biological mother. If he had such thoughts, he wouldn’t have repeatedly abused you…”

After a pause, Sadie explained carefully, “Esther, as he is now, it’s safer for him to be in jail than outside. That Pendleton holds grudges. With how Bradley beat him up so badly, who knows how Bradley will meet his end once he’s released? If you truly want what’s best for Felix, let Bradley stay in jail longer until all the storms outside have completely subsided.”

“Alright.” Esther understood perfectly well that Bradley had severely beaten the Pendleton wastrel.
