Kevin returned to the hospital room with Jasperâs test results. Bradley was still unconscious, and Esther sat in a chair, tightly holding his hand.
âEsther.â
Esther looked up. Kevin was reluctant to tell her the truth, which was reflected in her reddened Jasperâs liver was not a match for Bradleyâs transplant, an expected outcome.
âJasperâs liver isnât suitable either. But donât worry. Weâll keep searching.â
Esther hesitated for a moment and nodded gently. âWeâll surely find a suitable one.ââ
eyes.
Kevin had mixed feelings. He thought perhaps things would not be as smooth as they had hoped. After all, it was a liver! Finding a suitable one for transplantation was truly difficult.
âDonât lose hope. Weâll find one as long as we donât give up.â
Kevin left the room and sat on a bench outside, anxiously pulling at his hair.

Kevin let out a weak curse, âDamn.â
It was true. When Kevin imagined himself in Mandyâs situation, her hesitation and reluctance seemed perfectly normal. He empathized with her. He couldnât possibly compel her to donate her liver to Bradley; he couldnât bring himself to do such a thing.
âC-Can I visit Mr. Warner?â
Kevin nodded and opened the door, leading Mandy inside.
Mandy gasped softly when she saw Bradley, who was teetering on the brink of death. She quickly covered her mouth, successfully hiding her smirk.
âI didnât expect Mr. Warnerâs condition to become so criticalâ¦â
The moment Esther heard Mandyâs voice, she involuntarily released Bradleyâs hand and fixed her surprised gaze upon Mandy. âMs. Pendleton, you are..
