âWhen I took Mr. Felix to see Esther today, the doctor said that she has lost her will to live.
âYou and Esther are both children I watched growing up. I donât know what kind of life Esther had in prison these past five years, but I know that if she still had a trace of attachment to this world, she wouldnât have lost her will to live.â
Clark handed Bradley her secret crush diary, placing it on his desk.
âThis is a diary she wrote before. I happened to come across it while tidying her things. Perhaps the man mentioned in the diary can awaken her will to live.â
After saying that, Clark pondered for a moment and said in a low voice, âI donât believe Esther would harm Mr. Thomas. Perhaps there were other conspiracies in the case from years ago that we havenât discovered. Mr. Bradley, even if you donât love Esther, please spare her for the sake of her saving you and giving birth to Tinkerbell and Pixie for you.â
Clark left the study after conveying his thoughts.
Bradley looked at the diary in front of him. The diary had a girly pink cover with a pattern of golden and pink clouds, beautifully layered and intertwined. Estherâs handwritten words with a fountain. pen were on the beautiful cover-âSecret Love Diaryâ.
Bradley reached out and picked up the notebook. After a deep gaze at the words âSecret Love Diaryâ, he silently threw it into the drawer.
He had no interest in Estherâs infatuation from her youth. He did not need anyone else to awaken Esther. Her life belonged to him. Unless he wanted her dead, no one, including the Grim Reaper, could take her life from his hands.
After a deep glance at the closed drawer, Bradley suddenly stood up and left the study, heading straight to Estherâs ward.
There was a new caregiver in Estherâs ward. When the caregiver saw Bradley, she was startled and stammered, âMr. Warner.â
âWho are you?â asked Bradley.
The caregiver quickly explained, âIâm the caregiver Mr. Johnston requested for Ms. Quill.â
âGo out first.â
The caregiver did not care what Bradley wanted to do. She did not want to stay with him, so she quickly fled the ward and stood at a distance, waiting at the door.
Estherâs hospital ward was ordinary, devoid of flowers or plants, and was eerily empty. The air was filled with the strong smell of disinfectant.
Still unconscious, Esther lay quietly on the hospital bed, under the soft and cloud-like blanket. Her long hair was spread out, and her pale lips lacked any trace of color.
Bradley looked at Esther, who resembled a dead person, and his heart cleriched. A sharp pain spread through his body from his heart, causing his vision to momentarily flicker into darkness.
Bradley instinctively held onto the railing of the hospital ward, his tall figure enveloping Esther as if they were embracing intimately.
âEsther, this is my final warning. If you dare to die, Iâll kill your Pixie to keep you company!â Bradley warned through gritted teeth, but Esther remained motionless and showed no response.
She was alive, but there was no difference from being dead.
In that instant, Bradley thought of Felixâs innocent words and, as if possessed, lowered himself to press his thin lips against Estherâsâ¦
