Chapter 503 After relaxing for a few moments, she got up and headed to the bathroom to wash up. The suiteâs bathroom was large and luxurious, with a striking circular bathtub in the middle. The idea of taking a nice long bath and just relaxing sounded like heaven to her.
Natalie plugged in her phone to charge in an outlet by the bathtub. When she turned it on, she discovered that Brandon had called her more than ten times.
What was wrong?
Pondering this, Natalie placed a video call to Brandon.
âSorry, my phone was dead before.â Rubbing her w*et hair, Natalie leaned in close to the screen and looked at Brandonâs face.
Brandon opened the video on his end but was working busily overtime, so he simply placed his phone aside. He didnât pay much attention to Natalie throughout the call. âDonât you have anything to tell me?â asked Brandon guardedly, as he still focused on the document he was reading. Natalie could only see half of his torso on the screen.
He still couldnât get the image of Derek carrying Natalie onto the stage out of his head.
Natalie, on the other hand, had no idea what he was talking about.
Her heart and mind were full of the Iridescent Show and the amazing evening sheâd had. As for the rest, she could barely remember it. She had no clue that Brandon was talking about Derek holding her.
âWhat? What should I tell you?â Natalie asked, completely baffled.
A strange mix of jealousy and sadness surged up in Brandonâs mind. He no longer wanted to talk to Natalie, so he buried himself in his work instead.
If she didnât want to tell him the truth, he wouldnât try to f0rce anything out of her.
Through the video screen, Natalie noticed a closed container of takeout food on the table beside Brandon. It seemed that he never touched his dinner.
Natalie said, âItâs so late. Havenât you eaten yet? You canât keep working. You need to take a break and eat something first.â
Without raising his head, Brandon said calmly, âI have eaten.â
Natalie took a deep breath. She raised her voice, but still managed to say in a gentle albeit slightly exasperated tone of voice, âBrandon!â
Brandon had no choice but to look at Natalie in the screen. Only then did he notice through the screen how s*xy she looked.
Natalieâs hair was w*et, falling on her shoulders in pleasing cascades. Her smooth skin and partly visible cleavage were obscured under mounds of white bubbles. The steam rose around her, and her smooth face looked pink and delicious, which made him want to reach through the screen and have a nibble.
The Substitute Wife My Poor Husband is a Billionaire Brandonâs image on the screen had suddenly stopped moving.
Natalie had assumed that a bad connection from the hotelâs internet was the culprit.
âWhy is the internet so slow? I thought this was supposed to be a five-star hotel.â She grumbled as she shook her phone, trying to get a better connection. That was when she saw Brandonâs ears getting red.
âBrandon! You perv. You didnât even listen to me when I was talking about something serious and now that Iâm taking a bath youâre suddenly interested?â Natalie shrank back in the bathtub, looking at Brandon with accusing eyes.
Brandon cleared his throat with a cough, but his eyes never strayed from her. âWeâve never tried this kind of video call before. It could be fun, donât you think?â
He couldnât help himself. This was the first time Brandon had seen Natalie in such a seductive position.
His next words took on a bolder tinge. âStand up and let me see,â he ordered, his voice coming out in a low and smooth rumble.
Natalieâs skin heated up from embarrassment and heat. She hesitated for a moment, and then braced her hand on the edge of the porcelain bathtub, slowly rising from the water that hid her from his view.
Brandonâs breath hitched. A little more and he would see all of her.
Just then, the door was pushed open.
âBoss! I have the materials you want.â
The sudden intrusion broke the spell, leaving Natalie flabbergasted. She immediately ducked back into the bathtub.
Brandon turned off his phone in one quick motion, and then nonchalantly leafed through the file in his hands as if his employee hadnât interrupted anything.
Sean heard a loud noise.
âWhat was that sound? Did something fall?â Sean c*cked his head to the side as he placed the documents on Brandonâs desk. He looked around but found nothing. There was only Brandon sitting casually on his chair. At first glance, nothing seemed amiss. But Brandonâs eyes betrayed him, still bearing traces of panic.
Sean raised his eyebrows. It was uncharacteristic of Brandon to be so nervous.
But Sean wisely decided to refrain from asking. Without another word, he turned to leave. Just as he was about to step out of the room, Frankâs words crossed his mind. He faced Brandon again and said, âMr. Watson asked me to deliver a message. He told you not to worry. Heâd do everything he could to find that pharmacist. Watch your health. If you feel like thereâs something wrongââ
But before Sean could finish, Brandon cut him off. âWhat are you talking about?â cold as he spoke, blatantly motioning towards the phone with his head.
He didnât want Natalie to know that he was looking for the pharmacist. He knew she would worry.
It took a few seconds for Sean to recognize what Brandon was doing. He closed his mouth and nodded, and then left the office.
Once he was out the door, Brandon unlocked his phone and continued his call with Natalie.
She was still in the bathtub, with only half her face visible. âDid Sean leave?â
âHeâs gone.â A few seconds of silence lapsed with Brandon looking at the still-blushing Natalie, and then the two burst into laughter at the unexpected turn of events. The heat of the moment was gone. There was only a calm, easy feeling between them.
Natalie remembered Seanâs words. âWho is the pharmacist Sean was talking about?â she asked curiously.
âItâs about work. The Larson Group will be partnering with an overseas pharmaceutical company in a few days,â Brandon explained briefly and calmly.
Natalie knew Brandon well enough to know that he didnât want to talk about it anymore, so she didnât press. A yawn came from her. It was late, and the warm water was starting to make her feel sleepy.
Brandonâs eyes turned soft as he looked at her fighting off her drowsiness. âGo to bed. Youâre tired,â he said. Seeing that her hair was still w*et, he reminded her, âDonât forget to dry your hair before you sleep.â

With their final good nights, Natalie hung up. A slow, unconscious smile crept on Brandonâs lips, and he shook his head fondly. He turned around and opened the takeout boxes on the table, and then picked up the documents Sean had brought. He ate as he read through them.
The files contained info that Sean had collected after investigating the pharmacist. It turned out that he had many aliases, using one for a short time before disappearing and changing into another one.
No distinguishable pattern came out from the list of victims. The scope was too wide to be narrowed down. Some were rich while others were unknown. It was impossible to decipher his tendencies, almost as if he was randomly picking anyone to be the test subject for his medicine.
Brandon wondered if it was truly a coincidence that this man sold medicine to Charis.
The deeper the probe went, the more complicated things appeared to be.
The next day, in Northcliffe.
Warm sunlight streamed into the room. Natalie furrowed her brows, turning over and covering her head with the quilt. She didnât want to get up yet, but her plans of going back to sleep were sabotaged by the sound of the doorbell.
