Chapter 535 âYou...â A hint of coldness was beginning to turn Natalieâs gaze into an icy glare. She was about to snap at Derek when Elizabeth stopped her.
âIâll do it. We should avoid getting into conflicts with each other for this project.â between the two of them, Elizabeth felt as if she was caught in the middle of a brewing storm.
She picked up the pen and started to draw. As her hand moved across the page, a sudden burst of pain radiated from her wound. The pen dropped to the ground with a clatter.
Elizabeth crouched down to pick it up. âIâm sorry,â she said awkwardly. âIt sl*pped because my grip was a little loose.â
Derek could tell with one glance that Elizabeth was downplaying her injury. It was a deep enough cut that the normal use of her hand was not possible.
âMiss Perry, youâve hurt your hand badly. I canât trust a designer who canât even hold a pen right.â
He turned to look at Natalie with a smug smile. âThis is why I said I was choosing you. Any more objections?â
It took everything in Natalie not to let her fury boil over at the sight of Derekâs triumphant face. Focusing instead on Elizabeth, Natalie held her arm and said, âYou donât look too good. Do you want to go out and take a break?â
Elizabeth crumpled the paper in her hand, the movement sending a dull pain crawling across her palm. Without another word, her eyes downcast with gloomy shadows.
Seeing the crestfallen look in Elizabethâs eyes made Natalie want to chase after her.
âAre you seriously leaving me, your client, alone here?â Derek leaned back against the sofa, his long legs crossed gracefully. There was not an ounce of guilt to be seen on his face.
Natalie gritted her teeth and turned to him. âAre you out of your mind? Or do you just not have a brain at all? That was so cruel! How could you say that to her? Our design drafts are done through a specialized software. Itâs not necessary for the designer to complete everything by hand. She could do just as well with her injury.â
Derek wasnât interested in any of it.
He turned his attention to the ring on his fi**ger, playing nonchalantly with the band. âYou avoided me on purpose, so I had no choice. If you hadnât questioned my decision, I wouldnât have had to find fault with Miss Perry.â
âNow youâre blaming me?â Natalie was furious. After taking several deep breaths to calm herself down, she opened the door of the VIP room and said, âPlease leave, Mr. Ramsey. Iâm afraid we canât accept this project.â
Wilder quickly stepped in to try and smooth out the situation. He had tried so hard and was now finally about to secure a design project from W Marks Studio. Nothing could go wrong now! âPlease, letâs talk about this calmly. Iâm sure we can come up with a compromise. Youâve been at the Iridescent Show last time. You know better than anyone that Derek is the perfect model for W Marksâ designs. The interview is also very important to Derek.â
Once Natalie had made up her mind however, she was as immovable as a boulder. Leaning against the door, she refused, âOur designers canât help him. Youâll have to find someone else.â
It was then that it dawned on Derek how angry Natalie was. With a frown, he asked, âAre you that mad about it? Why do you have to take this so seriously?â
âYou can see yourself out.â With that, Natalie simply turned around and walked out of the room.
Wilder shot a cold glare at Derek. âWhat the hell did you just do?â
Derek brought a hand towards his forehead, kneading his temple as tension gathered in that spot. He looked at the file that Elizabeth had left.
The materials she had prepared were perfect, and he could tell that she was serious about her job. He wouldnât have acted so childishly if he hadnât been angry with Natalie.
r*bbing his face with his palm, he admitted, âIt was my fault. I shouldnât have been mean to that designer.â
Wilder rolled his eyes inwardly. Derek had always been like thisâ not realizing the consequences of his actions until the damage had already been done.
After leaving the room, Natalie looked around the studio to find Elizabeth, but there was no sign of her. She paused her search and thought for a while, and then headed straight for the rooftop.
There was Elizabeth, leaning against the railing that overlooked the business district below.
âThis brings me way back. You had always come here during lunch break.â Elizabeth was looking down, her hands clasped together. As Natalie walked over, she saw the tear stains that had been drying on Elizabethâs cheeks.
Elizabeth finally spoke, sniffing and wiping her eyes. âThe wind is really strong today. I think something got in my eye.â
Not even a light breeze disturbed the world that was standing perfectly still.

ï¤Chapter 1329 Natalie said nothing about Elizabethâs obvious lie and asked instead, âHowâs your wound?â
A bitter smile broke through Elizabethâs lips. âIâve gone to see several doctors. They all said the same thingâ the wound had already healed. But every time I pick up a pen, my hand will shake. I canât control it.â
Fear swallowed Elizabeth. Would she ever be able to draw again?
Natalie felt an overwhelming desire to comfort Elizabeth, but she was not sure what to say. She let the silence stretch for a moment before speaking, âElizabeth, donât tell anyone about this. You have to keep trying. Donât give up on treatment. I know a doctor with great medical achievements. Maybe he can help.â Natalie handed Elizabeth a business card.
âFrank Watson?â Elizabeth gaped at the name on the paper. âThereâs no way such a renowned doctor would even spare time to see me.â
Frank Watson was a prominent name. His influence had such a wide reach that even people who werenât from the medical field recognized him.
âA famous doctor is still a doctor. He is duty-bound to save lives and treat people. Itâs not like you would ask him to treat you for free. Youâre a patient.
He wouldnât refuse,â Natalie placed a comforting hand on Elizabethâs shoulder and smiled.
The two walked down the rooftop together after a while. When they returned to the studio, they found Derek and his manager still waiting inside the VIP room.
âMr. Ramsey, our meeting is over. Please leave. We need this room. We have other clients to attend to later,â Natalie said icily.
Derek had been dejected since she walked out on him.
He felt like a child who had gotten into mischief. Even now, he could still feel Wilderâs glare on him, silently p**ssuring him to apologize. âForgive me, Miss Perry. I was out of line and I said incredibly rude things to you. I sincerely apologize.â
