(Special Halloween Chapter! Boo!)
-------
I get back to the house carrying bundles of plastic bags in both hands. Kafei and Teli are sitting on the couch and Revali is probably in his room. Mipha told me they haven't had their date yet due to finals but Revali invited her to our Halloween party tomorrow in hopes to make it their first date. I highly doubt she'll come, considering that she doesn't like parties.
"Were you able to get everything for the party?" Kafei asks me, putting down a scissor and paper. Looks like he's crafting.
I look into the bag and nod. "Candy, soda, balloons, fake cobwebs, fake spiders, bats--"
"Fake bats, I hope," he interrupts with a chuckle.
"Fake...bats?" I tilt my head. "Then what am I going to the pet store for?" We both laugh.
"Can you go get Revali and Link?" he requests. "Time for Secret Monster!"
"What is that?" I want to know, putting the bags down.
"You'll see," he grins.
"Okay," I shrug and head upstairs. I knock at Revali's door first. No answer. As expected. He always does this and it never works.
"I know you're in there," I roll my eyes at his door and knock again. "Kafei and Teli want us all downstairs."
Nothing.
"Hello?" I chant. "I will open this door myself if you don't."
"It's locked. Go away," Revali barks.
My hand twists the door knob and pushes the door open. "Liar."
"What do you want?" he scoffs, lying on his bed and throwing darts at the ceiling.
"Can you please come downstairs?"
"Nope." He throws another dart.
I turn on the lights and leave his room to go get Link.
"Turn the lights off! And shut the door!" he shouts.
"Nope," I giggle and enter Link's room.
Link is doing push ups on the floor. He's shirtless but I've gotten used to that after living with a bunch of guys for a month. My eyes inspect his legs. He's only using his right leg, but I'm still not a fan of him working out while he's injured.
"I'm back," I say, putting my keys and phone down.
"You were gone for a while," he pants, continuing his work out.
"I couldn't get everything at one store so I had to drive across town."
Link finishes his last push up and sits down on the floor. He picks up the t-shirt lying on the floor, not to get dressed, but to dry his forehead and chest with it. A smile plays on his lips when he looks up at me.
"Come here," he opens his arms.
"You're sweaty."
"So?"
"So go take a shower first," I laugh.
"Since when do you care?"
"Since the first time I saw you," I giggle and squat down to hug his glistering body. "Kafei wants us downstairs for some monster meeting."
"Oh no," Link throws his head back. "I'm not doing that this year. Let's just stay up here and hope they forget about us," he snakes his arms around my waist and pulls me onto his lap.
"That would be rude."
"They'll get over it."
"Come on, they are our family," I tease, playing with his hair.
"You go. I shower."
"We go, then you shower."
"We go, we shower. Final offer."
I chuckle and give him a kiss on the cheek before getting up. "Fine, take your shower. I'll go downstairs and see what this is all about."
I hand him his crutches and make sure he uses them all the way to the bathroom. His surgery is on Monday. On Tuesday I have a big presentation for the Scholars Symposium, Wednesday is Impa's tournament, and Thursday's her trial. It's going to be the busiest week of my life. I'm just glad I'm done with midterms. If I hadn't skipped astronomy that one time I would still have a 100 in every course.
Revali is standing in the living room when I get back, his arms crossed and his mien sour. Kafei and Teli are still sitting on the couch, and five scraps of paper with each of our names written on them lie on the small table in front of them.
"Where's Link?" Kafei asks.
"He's not participating in whatever this is," I answer.
"Called it," Teli says and removes Link's name from the table.
"So," I step closer. "What's this?"
"Are you familiar with Secret Santa?" Kafei asks me.
"I've heard of it. It's a Christmas tradition."
"Yes, this is pretty similar," he says. "I'll turn the papers so we can't see the names and mix them up, then each of us picks one. You can't tell anyone which name you picked. You have to get a Halloween costume for the person you picked, and whoever picked you has to get yours."
Huh? I blink at him and scratch my arm.
"It's for the party," he concludes.
"I'm not going to be at the party," I shake my head. I haven't been at any of their parties and I'm not planning on changing that.
"Come on, it'll be so much fun," Teli says and begins to flip the papers.
"I don't know..."
"Do you really want to spend Halloween hiding in Link's room? Impa will be here too," Kafei argues.
"Alright, okay, just this once." I haven't spent much time with Impa this month and I know she'd be excited to go to a party with me. It's my duty as her best friend to distract her from the anxiety she must be feeling due to her upcoming trial and, more importantly, I have to make sure she doesn't break the law in her last days of probation. So no underaged drinking or assaults.
Full of elan, Kafei picks the first name and looks at it in secret while smirking at it in a mischievous way.
"I'm only doing this under one condition," Revali interrupts, having noticed Kafei's facial expression. "Nobody is dressing me up as a noodle."
"You don't make the rules," Teli laughs and picks a name.
Only two names are left on the table. Revali goes first, then me. I unfold the little paper and find Kafei's name on it.
"Did anyone pick their own name?" He asks the group. We all shake our heads. "Great! Let's go to Spirit Halloween and get our costumes."
"I just came from there," I whine.
⤠⤠â¤
"Are you just going to stay in the room?" I ask Link while applying my maskara in his mirror.
"Guess so."
"I know you don't like parties but you could have fun. Most of your teammates will be there."
"You mean the team that is going to the nationals without me?" He mumbles, chewing on his pen.
"Hm... You'll still go with them. You just can't play. And next year you'll be the one winning the championship for us again."
"Thanks.."
"Hey, don't pout," I walk over to his desk and give him a kiss on the cheek. "What are you working on?"
"Math."
I look at his notes but can't read his messy handwriting. It's probably best that he skips the party and finishes his homeworks. It's not like he'll be missing much. A knock at the door pulls me away from Link.
"Zelda," Revali knocks again.
I open the door and stare at the big bag he's holding up. "Ready for your costume reveal?" he smirks.
"You are my secret monster?" I whimper. I wish he wasn't giving me such a smug look. He hands me the bag and waits for me to take a look inside. "You've got to be kidding me."
Revali lets out a short laugh and crosses his arms.
"What is it?" Link gets up to get a glimpse too.
"That's funny," he chuckles, pulls out the crown, and places it on my head.
"If I'm going as a princess, you're going as ravioli," I threaten.
"Too bad you're not my secret monster. Teli already gave me my costume."
"I hope it's bad," I hiss, staring at the blue dress in the bag. Impa will enjoy mocking me all night.
Revali turns away and disappears in his room to change into his costume. I pull the dress out of the bag and hold it in front of me in the mirror. A princess... What did I expect, really?
"It's nice," Link comments on the dress.
"Just do your homework!" I demand, annoyed.
"Yes, Your Highness," he raises both of his hands in surrender, not even flinching from the glare I shoot at him.
After giving Kafei his Pikachu costume I head to the bathroom and change into the dress and crown. Somebody knocks at the door and I panic because I can't close the zipper on the back without performing circus-worthy contortion.
"One moment," I breathe.
"It's me," Revali says.
I hold the dress up with my hand and open the door by an inch. "What?" I snap and burst into laughter. His costume consists of angel wings, a quiver, and a white towel wrapped around his hips.
"Are you cupid?" I can't contain my laughter.
"Sure am. Just came to give you your loyal steed," he cackles, presenting a hobby horse with a creepy white head.
"Nuh-uh, forget it," my laughter dies in a heartbeat and I shake my head at the idea of walking around with that thing.
"Yeah who's laughing now?" He grins.
"No, go away with that thing!" Those dead eyes are giving me goosebumps. "No way am I carrying a horse on a stick around all night!"
"Worth a shot," he shrugs. He knew I wasn't going to agree to that.
"Before you go, can you do me a favor?"
"No."
"Please. Can you zip me up?"
"Ask your prince." Revali dismisses me with a wave of the hand and walks downstairs. Why do I bother asking?
I check the hallway to make sure no guests are up here, then I hurry back to Link's room. His eyes go wide and his pen drops to the floor when he looks at me.
"Don't--" I hold my finger up. "Not a word. I just need you to close the zipper at the back."
Link bites his lip and nods. I walk up to him and collect my hair in the front as I turn around. His hands are cold and I wince at the touch. His lips leave a kiss on my spine before he pulls the zipper up.
"Stay up here with me," he begs.
"Impa is coming," I argue with a smile, trying to unhook his arms around my stomach.
"So?" He plants a small kiss on my shoulder.
"You're so needy," I giggle.
"Excuse me, Princess."
"Call me that one more time, see what happens," I threaten. It's going to be like this all night, I already know it. "Will you please let go of me so I can go downstairs? I can come back once an hour to check on you," I offer as a compromise.
"No, that's alright. You'd only distract me from getting my work done. In a good way," he loosens his arms around me. "Enjoy the party. I'll have the door locked and listen to music on my headphones so just text me when you want me to open the door."
"Okay. Have fun doing homework," I tease and leave him to his work.
Loud Halloween music is playing and people are chatting and dancing downstairs. We did a good job with the decoration. It took all day yesterday and all morning today, but it was worth it. The atmosphere is great! They even made sure that beer pong fits the theme, using red food coloring for the drinks and a candy eyeball to replace the ping pong ball.
"Zelda! Nice costume!" Kafei cheers when he spots me walking down the stairs. He looks like a giant lemon with ears.
"Where did all these people come from?" I ask him amazed.
"The party is only starting. There will be at least twice as many people in an hour," he shrugs his big fuzzy shoulders and waddles back to his fiancé.
I squeeze by the groups of people and make it to the kitchen. This is the room with the least amount of people. I'll just wait here until Impa shows up. I don't recognize any of these people and even if I did, I doubt that I could approach them, let alone lead a conversation. I'm better off in the back of the party. In a corner. Not knowing what to do with my awkward body.
I attempt to dance, or rather move my hips subtly to the beat of the music, but after no more than two seconds I quickly abort due to the discomfort it gives me.
I'm just not made for parties. I don't know how everyone else looks so natural at it. It's weird. I don't know where to put my hands or what to look at. Maybe I should wait upstairs until Impa arrives. Or I could go bother Revali. At least I'd have someone to talk to.
"You look great!" A girl compliments my dress as she refills her red cup.
"Oh," I look down at the blue fabric hugging my body and back up at her devil horns. "Thanks, you too!"
"Thanks hun! You look a little lonely over here."
I blink at her, unsure what to say to that. She just gave me a compliment but now I feel a little insulted.
"No, I was just getting a refill," I lie.
"Come to the living room! We're about to play Drunk Jenga," she takes my hand and drags me into the next room.
"I don't drink," I object.
"I thought you just said you were getting a refill?"
"Well, er--"
"It doesn't matter, you don't have to drink for this one. As long as you don't bring the tower down."
I gulp and stare at the large tower in front of us.
"We're joining the game," she says to Karson. Finally a face I recognize. He's wearing a yellow construction helmet, fitting for the game.
"Awesome," he smiles and studies the tower. It's not fair to go against an architecture major. He decides on one of the bottom bricks and removes it faultlessly. "Take 3 sips," he reads what's written on his brick.
"I thought you only have to drink if it falls?" I ask the girl while Karson drinks from his cup.
"Every brick has a task. Not all of them make you drink though," she says and proves her point when she pulls a brick that tells her to strip one piece of clothing. I don't want to be rude but I'm considering walking away without a word. "Your turn," she says, having removed her horns.
I choose one of the top bricks and let out a sigh when the tower doesn't fall. "All it says is Marco," I say confused.
"Polo!" four other players shout immediately and point at Karson who was the last to say the word. He takes a sip from his cup and pulls another brick from the lower half of the tower. It's beginning to swing but it remains standing.
Kason smirks at the brick and eyes the girl next to me. "What did you get?" She wants to know. He turns the brick and shows us the French flag drawn on it. I take a big step away from him while the girl next to me takes a big step toward him. Her lips are pressed against his before I can look away. Definitely not playing another round. Do they even know each other?
When they detach themselves from each other she begins to laugh and I realize that I'm still staring at them. "Karson's my boyfriend," she explains overly amused by my reaction.
I find some relief in that but still decide to quit the game. Impa just got here anyway. I hug her at the door.
"Happy Halloween!" I say, happy to see her. That happiness perishes by her fit of laughter. Yep, this is what I expected...
"Why hello Princess," she wheezes.
"This wasn't my idea," I defend myself and fix the crown.
"I think it's brilliant," she laughs.
"I like your costume too." She's a ninja with a dagger attached to her hip and a sword to her back. And she drew her favorite band's logo on her forehead for whatever reason.
Everybody here seems to know her, for she has to make a round and greet everyone individually with a handshake and an over-enthusiastic hug. When she's done playing bff with everyone she attempts to drag me to the ping pong table but I refuse. Not another drinking game. I have to make sure Impa behaves tonight.
"Lame," is her response.
"One more week. Then you can go crazy again."
"But it's Halloween!" she sulks. We're back to babysitting.
"Let's go to the patio," I suggest and lead her through the backdoor.
Fewer people are outside but it's still booming with life. I look up to Link's window; his curtains are closed. I already miss him. My eyes only swiftly move across the lawn and stop when I spot the pink hair. My heart sinks to my stomach and swims in disgust. If Malice is here, Ganon can't be far.
"Actually, let's go back inside," I say to Impa, not willing to take my eyes off of Malice. Impa is just as focused on her.
"No," Impa says through her teeth.
"Impa," I beg in a whisper.
"We shouldn't have to leave because of her. This is our party. If you want to chill outside then we'll do that. And if she as much as looks at us..." Impa cracks her neck and knuckles.
"Turn it down a notch," I wrap my hands around her arm like a leish. "She hasn't caused any problems yet."
"Emphasis on yet."
Impa agrees to go back inside after I agreed to play beer pong with her, under the condition that I will not drink any alcohol. She said she will drink for me. I'm not comfortable with that but it's a party, and it's Halloween, and it's Impa. To think that she could make it through the night without drinking was laughable. I will just have to babysit her and confiscate her car keys.
......
After an hour of missing the opponent's cups, Impa is having trouble walking in a straight line. Her sentences are slurred and her eyes bloodshot. This is the first and last time I go to a party. It's not that I'm not having a good time, I'm actually laughing more than I am on other days, but I just don't fit in. And the cloud of marijuana is suffocating me.
"Let's play truth or dare!" Impa cheers and I shake my head.
"Let's not."
"Let's fucking go!" Some guy next to me shouts into the crowd and overrules my objection.
"I'm not playing," I say to Impa and flee to another room, leaving her to her other friends. Truth or dare. No thank you. There is no win, you can only lose. It's not even a game, just an embarrassment contest.
This room is even worse than the living room. People are making out and dancing on the table, some are smoking, some drinking. Revali is sitting on the small couch, getting smothered by two girls in very revealing costumes. He looks upset, angry really. I get close and find out why.
"We just wanna talk to him," the brunette witch says, driving her finger through Revali's hair.
"Take a hint, Link's not here!" Revali snaps at her.
"You're lying, his car is in the driveway," says the blonde who's wearing a lot of body paint and not a lot of clothing. I recognize her from somewhere... "Just let us talk to him. He's gotta be upstairs, right?"
"How many times do I have to tell you? He's--not--here!" He groans.
The blonde moves on top of Revali and drives her fingers over his abs. "Come on, Revali. It'll pay off."
"How about you let my friend talk to Link and I'll stay down here with you?" the witch says, scooching closer.
"Hell no!" Revali grimaces at them. "Get off of me."
I wonder if I should intervene; tell him he is needed in the kitchen or elsewhere to get him out of this awkward situation.
"Just name your price," the blonde licks her lips, her hands wandering lower. This is my cue. Revali is clearly uncomfortable and these girls have no respect for boundaries. I make a step forward, drawing Revali's eyes to me.
"Piss off. Both of you," he pushes the blonde girl off and gets up. When he walks toward me, she looks at me with her venomous green eyes and I finally remember where I've seen her before. In the tunnels, when Bellum passed Karusa and me, he had his arm around a Boar. That's her! They looked like a couple then, but I haven't seen Bellum here today, making it easy to assume one of two cases; they either broke up or she's trying to cheat on him.
"Hope you enjoyed the show," Revali's sarcasm slices through me like a blade. He's upset and I can't even blame him. I was acting like Bellum just now...
"I was just about to intervene," I tell him. "Do you know who they are?" My eyes return to the couch.
"Cia and Majora. Both Boars who shouldn't be here in the first place but I think fucking Malice invited them."
"Malice shouldn't be here either," I says under my breath.
"Some of the guys actually like her."
"What? Why?" Why would anyone like Malice?
"She's easy."
Ah.
"I thought she had a boyfriend," I scratch my chin.
"She does."
"Got it. Well, I have to check on Impa," I point my thumb over my shoulder. "Do you want to come with me?"
"No thanks," he scoffs.
"Are you sure?"
"..."
His silence speaks volumes. He doesn't want to be alone any more than I like seeing him alone.
"Just stick with us. I need someone to keep an eye on her."
"Ugh, fine."
We walk back to the living room. Impa's chugging her drink with a group of frat boys and sorority girls.
"Princessss!" She slurs and throws her arms around me and Revali. "Andddd... I forgot your name."
"Revali," he snarls.
"Oh yeah! Pasta boy!"
"Yup, I'm out. Good luck," Revali removes her arms and walks away.
"Are you okay," I ask Impa, holding her up because she can hardly stand on her own feet.
"I'm g... I'm..." she hiccups. "I'm great!"
"Okay, no more alcohol for you," I gently remove the cup from her hand and place it on the counter.
"Zelda?" she whispers in my ear.
"Yes, Impa?"
"Hm..." she cups my cheeks.
"What is it?"
"Ahye duank yet?"
"What?"
"Are..." she pauses, steading herself. "Are you drunk?"
"No, I don't drink," I say confused.
"Yeah, me either," she giggles and leans her head against my shoulder. She mumbles something against my shoulder.
"I can't understand what you're saying, Impa."
"Mhm."
"Do you want to go sit down?"
"Mh."
I can barely hold her up. I feel like she's falling asleep in my arms. "Impa?" I pat her back lightly.
"I love this song!" she jumps up, suddenly wide awake. "Ths my favrit song! I knoh the hoooooul lyrics!" She claims and mumbles some words that are nowhere close to the actual lyrics. "Dance with me!"
She's like a kid that found the secret candy jar right before bedtime. I hold on to her hand, trying to give her some balance.
"I don't want to dance."
"Yes you doo," she giggles and hugs me tightly, depending on me to hold her up again. "You can do anything! Becos you're soo smart. I love you," she laughs at my ear.
"You too." I should record this to tease her in the morning.
"I love you so much, Zelda."
"I love you too, Impa," I chuckle.
"Love you."
"Okay, Impa."
"Love you!"
"Let's sit down."
"Noo, I looove you!"
"I know. I love you too." She's very clingy when she's drunk.
"Love you."
"L--"
"Love you soooo much!"
"You too." Clingy and affectionate.
"Zelda?"
"Yes?"
"I'm really nauseous."
Oh no. "Do you have to throw up?"
"Yes."
"Okay, let's go to the bathroom."
I lead her upstairs and as soon as we reach the bathroom she's on her knees, emptying her gut into the toilet. I rush over to hold her hair back and stroke her back as tears fill her eyes.
"Shit," she spits into her soup.
"It's okay," I keep rubbing her back.
"Yuck," she wrinkles her nose. "I feel a lot better though," she spits one more time before flushing.
"I bet you do. I think you've had enough for tonight."
"Yeah." She rubs the corner of her mouth and staggers over to the sink. I help her clean her mouth with some water.
"You should lay down for a bit." I know Revali will kill me but I'll have her sleep in his room. At least until he's going to bed. That will give her a couple of hours to sober up. I walk her back to Revali's room and make her lie down on his bed. Yes he will most certainly kill me.
"Where are we?" She mutters with her eyes closed.
"Revali's room."
"Everything's spinning."
"You had too much to drink."
"What time?"
"It's 1 AM," I inform her.
"No, but how much?"
"What? It's 1 AM," I repeat.
"Fine," she rolls over and covers her eyes with her whole arm.
"I'll get you some water." And a bucket just in case she gets nauseous again.
When she doesn't reply, I leave the room and walk downstairs. I meet Revali at the bottom of the stairs and try to avoid eye contact. He grabs my arm to stop me.
"Why do you look so guilty?" He questions. "Don't even lie, just spit it out."
"Impa's sleeping in your room," I rush the words and pull my head between my shoulders.
"Huh?" He snaps.
"She's sick, she needs to lie down for a bit."
"Why my room?" He runs upstairs.
I hurry the opposite way to grab a bowl and some water and return to Impa before Revali gets in a fight with her, but Prissen is blocking the cabinet with the bowls, slowing my mission.
"Excuse me," I wave my hand at him to move.
"Hey. Didn't think I'd see you here."
"I can't say the same about you, Prissen."
"It's 'Dak," the twin complains and leaves the kitchen. Oops. I will apologize another time. Impa is my priority right now. I look into the cabinet but can't find what I'm looking for. They must have used that bowl for something else. I grab a water bottle from the cooler and leave the kitchen.
As I pass the living room, a hand pulls me into an empty hallway, away from everyone else. A guy in a costume has me pinned against the wall. I drop the water bottle in a moment of fright and feel the intensity of my pulse hammering against my ribcage. His hands next to my head keep me from leaving and his chest is way too close to mine.
"D-don't!" I stutter in fear.
Memories of Karusa play in my mind. Is this him? He's wearing armor and his head is concealed by a knight's helmet. One of his hands cups my cheek and I flinch. This is a nightmare, wake up! His thumb brushes over my bottom lip, warning me that he is about to kiss me.
"I have a boyfriend!" I burst, hoping it will stop him.
"You do?" a voice, so familiar that I could recognize it among 100 others, asks.
"L-Link?" I stumble, trying to make sense of it all. It can't be him. He's upstairs, doing homework.
I push the visor of his helmet up, just by inches, that's enough to recognize those lips I'm too familiar with.
"What are you doing here?" I beg to know, feeling my heart slowing down and my breaths quickening.
"Trick or treating," he smirks. "I'm tricking, you're treating."
"Where did you get the costume?"
"I got it yesterday after everyone kept bugging me to go to the party."
"You suck! Why didn't you just tell me? I almost kicked your butt just now."
"I would like to see you try," his smile widens as he leans in.
"We can't do this here," I try to back away but the wall behind me prevents that.
"Are you saying you don't want to kiss me?"
"No, that is not at all what I'm saying," I roll my eyes at his logic.
"Maybe I should have dressed as a frog."
"That wouldn't increase your chances." This may be the greatest challenge I have encountered in my life. Keeping a straight face when his adorable smile is teasing me.
"Why? You don't like frogs?"
"I find them quite fascinating. Doesn't mean I want to kiss them."
"Have you ever tried?"
"No? Have you?" I ask playfully.
"I never kiss and tell." He closes the little space between us. "One kiss?" he bids. It's a good thing I can't see his eyes. I would never be able to resist them.
"One tiny kiss," my mouth betrays my mind.
He leans in, enough to brush my lips but not enough to actually kiss me, and I feel like I'm being tortured. I don't want one tiny kiss, I want a million big ones. I bring my hands up to his head and pull him closer, kissing him as if I hadn't seen him in one hundred years.
Kissing in the open like this feels incredibly stupid but my mind has no control over my body anymore and I kiss him passionately without a care in the world. Link's cheeks are hot against mine and his lips taste like candy.
He chuckles and pulls away. "You toad-ally missed me."
"Don't talk," I breathe and lean in to resume what we started. I would kiss him all night if my eyes didn't catch the girl with burgundy hair standing at the end of the hallway. Mipha, dressed as a mermaid, is at our Halloween party!
I slam the visor down to hide Link's face and pray she won't see us. All it takes is one look to her right and it's over. She mustn't catch me with Link! If she sees me and comes over to say hi, Link will probably greet her, revealing that it's his hands on my hip. It will break her heart into pieces!
Mipha is in love with you and we have to hide, are the words I painfully swallow back down. My palms are sweating and I can't sort my thoughts. I just pray that she won't turn our way!
When she finally walks up the stairs I let out a sigh of relief. That's when I realize that all Mipha will find up there is Revali and Impa, her being in his bed...
"What's wrong?" Link asks, pulling my eyes back to him.
"Mipha's here."
"What? Where?" He looks to his left and right.
"I have to go," is all I say before leaving my knight in shining armor for the dilemma that is about to happen.
I dash back upstairs and arrive out of breath. I try to hide my heavy breath and call Mipha's name before she passes Revali's room.
"Zelda?" She looks just as surprised to see me as I am to see her. "You look so pretty!"
"Thanks, Link isn't here," I half pant, half chant.
"I know. I was trying to find the bathroom," she tells me kindly.
Revali steps out of his room to see if it was really her voice he heard.
"Hey," he says tenderly, turning red.
"Hi," she blushes just as much. When her eyes fall into Revali's room I can tell how confused she is by the girl sleeping in his bed.
"Thank you, Revali, for letting Impa sleep in your room. You're really sweet for caring so much about your friends. She had way too much to drink and you were right when you told her that she shouldn't drive home tonight," I say to Revali in hopes to make him appear a good friend and not a playboy. I would hate it if a misunderstanding ruined a potential relationship between Mipha and Revali.
This is also my way of apologizing for letting Impa sober up on his sheets. He presses his lips into a soft line and looks away as he nods. "Sure thing," he says like the humble man he is not. By now I know him well enough to take this as a thank you. Or an I forgive you. Same thing when it comes to Revali.
"That is very kind of you," Mipha notes, smiling up at him.
"It's nothing," she shrugs. "Glad you came, how long have you been here? I like your costume."
He continues to praise her while I go downstairs to grab another bottle of water. I also grab some ibuprofen for Impa. The hallway where Link and I stood minutes ago is now empty and I can't spot him anywhere else.
I even check the patio, expecting Malice to have something to do with his disappearance but she's innocently drinking by herself. When I return to the living room, Mipha and Revali are on the couch, chatting. I decide to text Link instead of searching the entire house. Apparently he went back to his room. I tell him that I will stay with Impa for a little bit and he sends a thumbs up, a sword, and a kissy emoji.

(This pictured is NOT canon to the story. Just something I drew for Halloween!)
