Lilyâs attack came like a lightning boltâblindingly fast and utterly precise! It was far swifter than her earlier attempt against the Lord of Oblivion, a speed that surpassed his expectations entirely.
Executed in the blink of an eye, this strike carried the full weight of Lilyâs strength and mastery of swordsmanship. Earlier, she had feigned the abilities of a mere Septuple-soul Big Dipper, but now her sudden shift in power was completely unforeseen.
If Lily had been the first assassin to target him, the Lord of Oblivion might have been more cautious. Though not particularly sharp-witted, he was an ancient Supreme God with unmatched experience. For tens of thousands of years, he had been the sworn enemy of every woman in Hyakki Street. Countless female assassins had sought revenge, yet none had succeededâeach one captured and subdued without exception.
Many of these assassins were Big Dipper warriors with exceptional skill in swordsmanshipâthey had to be to even reach this point. The stronger warriors, those on the Empyrean Stage, were wise enough to avoid the peril entirely, knowing full well the danger of facing him.
Lilyâs earlier display of strength had been unremarkable, blending in with the countless assassins he had defeated before. The Lord of Oblivion, accustomed to such attempts, had assumed Lily was no different. Most assassins were beautiful womenâthey wouldnât have made it to Hyakki Street otherwiseâand Lilyâs unparalleled beauty only heightened his eagerness to subdue her.
After countless failed assassination attempts by female warriors, the Lord of Oblivion had never imagined that this time would be any different.
This had been Lilyâs plan all along. If she revealed her true strength from the start, she would have lost the element of surprise. Instead, she feigned weakness, allowing herself to be captured, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
Yet even with her meticulous planning, Lily underestimated the power of a Supreme God. At the very last moment, she sensed the Lord of Oblivion reacting. He summoned his corrupted energy, concentrating it in a desperate attempt to block her strike. Though her attack was swift, it wasnât entirely beyond his ability to counterâhe clung to a slim chance of survival.
But then, out of nowhere, Lily felt a surge of Yomi energy enveloping her blade. Her already devastating strike became even more potent, pushing her attack beyond its natural limits.
The unexpected power obliterated his last shred of hope to defend himself.
The sharp blade sliced through the air with deadly precision.
The Lord of Oblivionâs mocking remarks about Lilyâs connection to the Madam seemed to enrage the very essence of Yomi itself. In retaliation, Yomiâs power surged into Lilyâs weapon, amplifying its potency to an unimaginable level.
Lilyâs frozen dagger plunged deep into the Lord of Oblivionâs thick chest, embedding itself up to the hilt. An icy aura burst forth from the blade, invading his core and spreading through every inch of his colossal frame.
"Ah! Ah! Ah!" The Lord of Oblivionâs massive body convulsed violently as he threw his head back, letting out an otherworldly cry. The dagger in his chest radiated a brilliant, blinding light, releasing waves of frozen mist. Simultaneously, suffocating, filthy energy began pouring from every orifice and even oozing from his skin. The tainted energy coalesced into rivers of black liquid, surging outward and breaking free from the castle tower, spilling into the dark skies above.
The humans and demons in the hall stood frozen in shock, their eyes wide with disbelief. Even the two Infernal Stage demons were momentarily paralyzed by the overwhelming display of powerâsomething far beyond their comprehension.
The endless streams of dark filth shattered the castle towerâs roof entirely, ascending into the night sky like a torrent of malevolence.
As the filth and frozen mist began to fade, Lily looked down to find only the handle of her dagger remaining in her hand. The blade itself had vanished, dissolving into the ether.
The Lord of Oblivionâs massive form disintegrated entirely, melting into the streams of filth that continued to pour forth.
"Hehe, hehehe!" Beneath Lilyâs feet, a translucent, childlike figure appeared. The child had an eerie, innocent expression that belied its malicious undertone, laughing ambiguously.
"How utterly unfun!" the child whined, its voice a mix of innocence and malice. "It will take me countless years to rebuild and enjoy all the beauties I desire again! Youâve managed to accomplish what every other maiden before you failed to do. But mark my wordsâdonât let me meet you again. Otherwise⦠hehehe, hehehehe!"
The child began skipping and hopping, ascending into the night sky with carefree strides. As it moved toward the River of Oblivion, it occasionally turned back, sticking out its tongue and making mocking faces at Lily. "Next time we meet, woman, Iâll make you kneel and beg me to become your master! Hehehe, heheheheh!"
As the embodiment of the Lord of Oblivion, the child leapt into the dark clouds and vanished into the depths of the night sky.
"My Lord⦠Lord of Oblivionâ¦" whispered the stunned voices of his followers.
The two Infernal Stage demons, along with everyone else in the hall, dared not approach Lily. She had reduced the Lord of Oblivion to his original form with a single strikeâa feat that left them unable to gauge her true strength in the power-suppressing confines of Hyakki Street. Without hesitation, they retreated, fleeing the destroyed castle tower in all directions.
The women clad in undergarments stared at the scene in stunned disbelief. Many collapsed to their knees, their legs too weak to support them. Tears streamed down some of their faces as years of suppressed regret and hatred surged to the surface, overwhelming them.
Several women, clad in undergarments, snapped out of their daze and crawled toward Lily on trembling knees. Clutching the hem of her skirt, they pleaded, "Sister Goddess, we are but ignorant mortals who failed to recognize your strength. Please forgive us for our earlier offense, Sister Goddess."
"We are willing to accept any punishment, Sister," they whimpered, unbothered by their scant clothing and exposed forms. One by one, they crawled forward and kowtowed before Lily, their voices trembling with desperation.
The green-haired woman dropped to her knees, bowing in a pose of utter submission. Lifting her head hesitantly, she said, "Thank you, Goddess, for rescuing us. We have nothing to offer in repayment. Please, take us in. Even if we must serve as your slaves or toys, it would be a fate far kinder than living as the concubines of that grotesque Lord of Oblivion!"
"Please, Sister Goddess, take us in!"
"Sister Goddess, we beg you!"n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
As Lily looked into their pleading eyes, brimming with desperation and submission, she couldnât help but recall their tragic fates. Yet, she remained unmoved. What purpose would it serve to take in such spineless women, who only latched onto the strong for protection?
Though their beauty was undeniable, Lily found their lack of spirit and resolve utterly distasteful.
"My toys? You donât even qualify for that," Lily said coldly. She had no shortage of beauty surrounding her and no interest in taking in such weak-hearted individuals.
With a flick of her wrist, countless samurai swords materialized and fell from the sky, landing neatly beside each of the women.
"A woman is not an ornament for the strong," Lily said grimly, her voice cutting through the silence. "To survive in this perilous world, you must never let go of the weapon in your hand. Only then will you stand equal to any man." With a graceful motion, she summoned a luxurious crimson jacket adorned with a fur collar, which settled elegantly on her shoulders. Around her, cherry blossom petals began to drift through the air like a gentle snowfall.
Without sparing the women another glance, Lily turned and ascended into the night sky. Her long hair flowed behind her as she stepped gracefully on a staircase of cherry blossom petals that formed beneath her feet1.
"Sheâs walking on cherry blossoms⦠and thin air?"
"Could it be? Is she truly beyond the laws of Hyakki Street?"
The scantily clad women fell to their knees, gazing up at Lily as she disappeared into the night. Their faces were a mix of confusion, envy, resentment, and helplessness, reflecting the storm of emotions brewing within them.
