As the forest fell into an eerie silence, Nikolai stood amid the corpses of the goblins. No crystals were dropped, and he walked back toward his group.
âWhat do you think?â Lex asked, looking as if she was holding herself back from snatching the blades from Nikolaiâs hands.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
âThey are⦠difficult to use,â Nikolai said with a frown.
âThatâs why I have the incomplete art,â Lex said as she turned on the engine of the vehicle, making it roar to life. âDo you want to keep using it?â
âSo, I can refuse?â Nikolai asked with amusement, but Lex nodded thoughtfully, her pipe bobbing up and down.
âThis is my compromise. Your gun was the reason you lost, making my win incomplete as well. Since my family was only sealing the weapon, the art must be their way of controlling the darkness.â
Nikolaiâs eyes gleamed when he heard this. An Art that would help him utilize the darkness better? That was pie falling from the sky, one he wouldnât refuse.
âIf I agree, do I have to stay here?â Nikolai asked with a frown, but Lex shook her head with a smile.
âItâs about time that I leave the Ferro Fort.â

Nikolai needed to find the possessed dwarf in almost seven hours. For that, he would have to lure the entity to retrieve the blueprint.
âThe crux of the problem is why would the entity wants to possess people?â
Thatâs why Nikolai took out one of the cogs and held it within his hand, waiting for the spiritual entity to try and control him. After a while of holding the cog on his bed, he began hearing voices.
âGo to the dungeon⦠gather the parts⦠go back⦠go back! Go back! Go back! Take people! Go back! Find the key!â
âDamn, someone is desperate.â Nikolai threw the cog on the bed as he tried to shake the thoughts away. âNormal people would fall into a trance the moment they touch it.â
âSo, this what possessed the dwarf?â Sergio looked at it with fear. âSo scary.â
âThen why are you trying to grab it?â Nikolai slapped his hand away, but the alchemist seemed unaware of his actions. âThis thing attracts people unconsciously.â Nikolai realized.
âPut it away, boss!â Sergio jumped off the bed and pointed at it with fear.
âAlright.â Nikolai placed it away. âWe still need to find the possessed dwarves. But I donât think we need to do anything.â
âWhy?â Yuxi asked while sitting on the chair with her legs crossed.
âJudging from the sounds I heard, thereâs no way that the person holding this will be sane.â Nikolai smiled. âThey must be planning on how to get the blueprint as soon as possible.â
âThey are coming for us?â Sergio looked around, taking out his vials. âWe need to prepare. Letâs set up traps!â
âThereâs no need.â Nikolai shook his head. âItâs time to make use of the dwarfâs corpse.â He said as he disappeared.
He ran in the dark dimension and left the pavilion. Some dwarves were monitoring them, but Nikolai ran past them without them noticing.
He reached the storage area where many machines were kept, close to the door. He had to wait until the door opened as some dwarves brought in games.
Nikolai slipped outside and waved his hand, leaving the corpse of the dwarf that he had. He snuck back in as the statue began closing before running back toward his pavilion.
The process didnât take more than ten minutes.
âHm? Youâre back?â
âKeep the fact that I was away hidden from Lex,â Nikolai said as he sat back. âThe mayhem will begin now.â He said with an evil smile.
âBossman, can it be that youâre a villain?â Sergio asked with a hint of unease as he held his bag of potions.
âHe tried to kill me, what do you think?â Yuxi gestured with a speechless face.
âAh, that was because heâs cautious.â Sergio frowned as he pondered. âBoss isnât an evil person. Without him, I would have rotted in that workshop!â
âHeâs just using to get potions.â Yuxi gestured, making Sergio grow uncomfortable.
âHey, Iâm still here.â Nikolai turned toward the mute. âDonât make me strangle you again. As for you,â He turned toward Sergio. âThink for yourself about the people you choose to be friends with, donât ask others.â
âAh, okay.â Sergio shrunk back. âBut you just said we are friends.â

There were five hours left before the curse activates, and the dwarves found the body. The tension could be felt in the air as Nikolai sat in a relaxed manner.
âYou guys are here.â Lex walked into their pavilion with a frown. âGood, thatâs good.â She sighed in relief.
âWhatâs wrong?â Nikolai asked with a frown.
âOne of the missing dwarves returned,â Lex said with a scary face.
âThatâs good news, then!â Sergio said with surprise. âI didnât know there was a missing dwarf!â
Nikolai didnât know if Sergio was naturally a good actor or just an airhead. Lex shook her head with a sigh.
âHe returned dead.â
âOh,â Sergio blinked. âDead people canât walk, thoughâ¦â
âYup, heâs an airhead.â Nikolai almost burst out laughing, but he held himself back. Having Sergio was a blessing because he could make people trust him.
âIâ¦â Lex was stumped for words, feeling as if whatever she says will be misinterpreted by the alchemist. âWe found a dead dwarf at the entrance. Heâs one of the missing people.â
âThatâs odd.â Nikolai frowned. âCan it be that he died at the entrance, or did someone place his body there?â
âWe donât know, but the dwarves placed him in one of the storage rooms for now. I just want you to stay here until we can leave. Otherwise, fingers will be pointed.â
âNo one said you could come with us.â Sergio scowled at her, but Lex simply turned toward Nikolai with a smile.
âIf you want the art, youâll have to allow me.â She told Nikolai as he felt a headache from his growing crew. An alchemist, an archer, and a Gunmaster.
âItâs time to use the Bloodline Talent, Wise Choice.â
