Chapter 22

Some EDM song played loudly as I stepped inside the Rowans mansion. The smell of alcohol hung heavy in the air. Kids from our school were gathered here. The ones that the goblins deemed worthy, of course. Invitations to these parties weren't extended to just anyone.

Noah clasped my hand, pulling me through the throng of drunk teenagers as I looked around.

People were laughing, chatting and grinding against each other to the beat of techno. Lights were dimmed and colorful beams fell over crowd from the spinning disco ball hanging down the high ceiling. I even saw waiters walking around with trays of drinks and snacks.

High school students shouldn't be partying like this.

Silas and Elijah's home screamed wealth and luxury, and after visiting Noah and Gordon's place I didn't expect anything less. I didn't need to have a tour of the house to know they had a swimming pool, personal gym, a mini-theater to indulge in movies and video games, huge library, and whatnot.

"Why can't you guys throw party at weekends?" I asked Noah as we reached the bar. See, they even have a bar.

"Everyone throws party at weekends. It's more thrilling when you let loose on the weekdays. It makes you feel naughty when you know you have school the next day," Noah said, a smirk curling at the corner of his lips.

"You guys are so spoiled." I chuckled.

A day before Elijah had announced at the lunch table that he was throwing party this Thursday night to celebrate me becoming the fifth horseman of their group. The gesture warmed me, even though I suspected it was more about indulging himself.

"We'll make sure to spoil you too." Noah let go of my hand only to wrap it around my mid and pulled me into his chest as we browsed for the drinks.

It became pretty hard to concentrate on the bottles decorated in front of me when I felt his lips brushing against the curve of my neck. I bit my tongue to stop the moans from escaping.

"You look so beautiful," he whispered in my ear, his seductive voice shooting right to my core, "did you wear this dress to impress me?"

I was clad in figure hugging red knit dress. I had found it in the forgotten corner of my closet. The dress was old and barely worn. I didn't even remember who got it for me. All I remembered was that I avoided wearing it because it glued to my figure, showcasing my unflattering body shape.

But tonight I took a chance, even when my curves had grown and they filled the dress more than they did before. Part of the reason was I felt daring, and other because I didn't have any other choice unless I wanted to repeat the outfit from last party.

When I had swept a look at myself in the mirror, I realized maybe my body shape wasn't that bad. The dress rounded my breasts and hips very well, reaching till my mid-thigh. I had paired it with my all-time favorite dark brown boots and American diamond studs.

I think I looked really good tonight.

"Don't give yourself too much credit," I whispered back, even though I so wanted to impress Noah. Somehow I ended up impressing myself too.

"Oh, I'll give myself credit if my girlfriend is strutting around in a sexy dress and enticing me to do things to her." His fingers thrummed just below my breast and I held my breath.

My body heated with need. I wanted him to do things to me too.

"You're killing me here Martin," he groaned, breathing in my scent, "you don't even know how tempting you are. So many guys are glancing at you and I want nothing more than to knock them all out for even daring to want you. You're only mine." And that did it.

I turned around and kissed him. My hands roamed over his sculpted jaw before sliding upward to lose my fingers in his silky hair. Noah caught up pretty quick and his hungry lips devoured mine. He pressed me against himself and I felt his palms slowly moving down to cup my butt.

My whole body erupted in tingles having him touch me so intimately. I was burning for him.

Alcohol hadn't even reached our mouths and we were already getting frisky. Well, who could blame me? I wasn't the only one who was looking sexy tonight. Dressed in grey knitted sweater and navy blue jeans with tousled blond hair Noah too looked delectable. He always did.

"Ugh, get a room you two," commented a familiar voice, making us pull away. Silas.

I saw Elijah and Gordon right behind him, amused smiles tugging on their lips. My cheeks flamed under their teasing eyes. All of us knew I was the shy one when it came to PDA, so me eating Noah's face off wasn't quite expected.

"You always have such a good timing, Silas," Noah said sarcastically.

"Agreed," added Elijah.

"Thanks." Silas grinned.

We all settled on bar seats and got ourselves drinks. I chose to stay away from alcohol this time, settling on a soft drink. I didn't want to relive that terrible hangover. Plus, if I had the company of Noah and the boys, I didn't think I needed alcohol to have fun.

"So Giselle, have you made up your mind about coming to Celestial Realm?" Elijah asked suddenly between our casual conversation. "I'm sure you'd like live experience learning about us goblins."

I looked at the bartender serving him drink. She had to hear him this close but she seemed totally unfazed.

"Elijah," warned Noah from beside me as I waited for the girl to leave. Yeah, Elijah shouldn't be talking about their goblin stuff so openly. He probably had little too much drinks.

"What? She had enough time to think," Elijah argued on a different tangent. "If she can crossover to our world it makes things easier. One day you'll have to leave to shoulder your duties. She's your companion. It will be a lot convenient for her to come with you."

"Duties? What duties?" I asked, extremely confused. "And why are you guys discussing so openly about all this? People can hear you."

"People can hear us, but not what we're speaking," Gordon explained to me, "Elijah has put a charm bubble around us. It tricks others into believing we're talking about random teenage stuff."

"Oh." Of course, they used magic. "What does he mean by Noah shouldering duties?"

"He means nothing," Noah supplied, glaring at Elijah.

"I'm not going to have this discussion again," Elijah tsked before taking a long sip from his glass. "But get this inside your head Sylvan, as soon as this fucker-" he pointed at Silas- "gets his companion, our vacation ends and we have to get back. Do you really think our old folks back home will let us continue with our tantrums, especially with all the shit happening there? Our little Giselle needs to get ready."

Noah had told me all of their parents were back in the Realm. They rarely came here, hence why these guys lived alone. Businesses ran in their names, but mostly other goblins who lived here looked after them. They owned Easthallow's woodland and properties around it from generations to guard the edge of Realm - the pathway between two worlds.

When I had commented their parents must be big shots over there to have such a responsibility, Noah went quiet before abruptly changing the subject. I let go of his strange behavior thinking he didn't want to overshare because we were still new and he wasn't sure what to trust me with. But maybe I should've prodded further. There was clearly something going on.

"Shut your mouth Elijah!" Noah snapped.

"Watch your tone, Slayer!" Elijah hissed, his stormy-gray eyes glinting dangerously. Something feral took over his features and I cowered even when his anger wasn't directed at me. I could feel the aura around him shifting, forcing me to submit.

Noah met his glare, air around him changing too. It was strong, but I knew Elijah overpowered. I felt constricted between their power clash.

I was almost expecting a brawl until Noah finally looked down. His jaw was clenched as though it physically pained him to back down.

Seconds passed and Elijah's fierce glare didn't shift from Noah until Gordon intervened, placing his hand on his shoulders. "Elijah, stop," his quiet voice instantly brought down the heaviness and I could breath again.

Elijah's face relaxed and he took Gordon's hand on his shoulder to kiss it. Then he gulped down his remaining drink.

I had so many questions, but I was too stunned of what just passed to demand answers from them. Some terrible song played in the background as none of us uttered a word.

"You have to kill the buzz, haven't you brother?" Silas's moody voice chimed after a minute of silence. He sounded a little shaken too.

Elijah gave him a side-eye but didn't say anything.

Noah's long fingers wrapped around my elbow and he stood up, making me stand up too. "Well, now that the buzz is killed we're leaving," he gritted, calmly, even though he was seething from inside.

"She can't stall it forever," Elijah said, staring at his empty glass, before we could walk away, "she belongs with you. And you belong in the Re-"

"Fuck. Off!" Was Noah's reply before he dragged me away.
