Lesson Thirty - Learn To Fight Alone.
"I just know me and you are going to become good friends."
I looked at Zoe who had connected her tablet to my car. I noticed that she was checking to make sure everything was running as smoothly as possible before the race. I didn't need to be with her but sitting in my car was better company than standing out there with people that did my head in. People were just annoying.
"Why's that?" I gave her a raised eyebrow wanting her to continue.
She shrugged her shoulders clearly not going to answer so I took the moment to look at the tattoos that ran up her right arm. It seemed that everyone Riker knew had tattoos. She must of noticed that I was staring because of what she said next.
"You have any tattoos?" She was scrolling through the list on her tablet but I noticed that she was curious. Her amber eyes glancing at me every few moments. I had to admit she had very much pretty eyes, I was actually a bit jealous.
"Yea." I said lifting the side of my top up, you couldn't see much of it but the swirls and apart of the moon. "A have a large wolf tattoo running from my ribs to my knee. Me and my brothers all have wolf tattoos."
"That's pretty cool." She said leaning in closer her black hair falling over her shoulders as she studied the part she could see.
Her tablet made this weird clicking sound and her attention quickly snapped back to it. "Looks like everything is good to go. I updated the map into your sat nav so you know the route."
Using the screen I looked at the route and noticed that I already knew this way through the city. "The drawbridge route."
Zoe nodded frowning when I got to that part of the track. "Be careful with that one my sources tell me there is a large cargo coming that will need the bridge to be lifted close to the time you will get there."
I scoffed. "It wouldn't be the first time I had to jump that bridge." I wasn't going to lie it wasn't one of my smartest moves in life but it wasn't something I would stop myself from doing again. I was famous for pushing my luck when it came to things like this.
"I was there for that race Riker was in it, you were the only one to risk it and drove the last mile at 30 miles an hour. You basically made a joke out of the rest of them. Riker's temper went through the roof that day." She seemed to shiver at the memory but I didn't bother to ask her why. It was almost time to race.
My car door opened and Archer popped his head in with a cheeky grin on his face. It was like he was walking in on something he shouldn't. Such a weird person but at the same time lovable. "You girls ready?"
I nodded as Zoe got out of the driver seat of my car. I didn't bother getting out and just climbed over. Running my hands over the steering wheel the car came to life. I loved that feature of the car. My brother Hayden out did himself when he first did it with his own.
"You know the plan?" Asked Archer as he looked around the interior of my car. I could see it in his chocolate brown eyes that he was in awe of the whole thing. I had a feeling him and Zoe were from a lot more humble background than I was.
"Nope." I made sure all the mirrors were in place. "All I know is that I need to beat that stupid blonde bitch."
Archer laughed but he was cut off as Riker pushed him out of the way with his tattooed arm.
"Rude." I heard Archer comment and I let out a scoff of laughter. Ladylike I know.
"You need to win this whole thing you hear me. Some of them are underestimating you." His face was blank and I noticed how he looked over in the distance but I didn't turn around to see what he seen. They will regret underestimating me. It's one of the biggest mistakes someone could make about me. I always come out on top no matter what it is.
"Let then underestimate me, I love it when I see the stupid looks on their faces when I do what they thought I couldn't."
I looked at Riker to see that his eyes had darkened over. I knew I was playing with bad choices right now. He was a bad choice, I could see the devil in his eyes something his brother didn't have and something his father had always dreamed of him having. Getting closer to this life showed me the true side of Riker Kennedy. He was like poison and I was slowly becoming addicted.
"That's what I like to hear, Princess."
When he closed the door I put my foot on the accelerator and let the car rev. I could feel the power beneath my hands and I loved every moment of it. Street racing was always be my thing. I might be the perfect Heir in the real world to a billionaire family, but this was my dirty little secret.
I drove the car forward to the starting line and felt the car rev, it wasn't built to go this slow. I took a moment to look at the car that pulled up to my left and seen that it was Ashley. She was driving a Porsche 918 Spyder I rolled my eyes. It was her brothers car, a car I've beaten before. A car my brother Hayden helped fix up.
She couldn't see me because my windows were tinted but I still gave her the dirtiest look I could at that moment. I didn't care if she could see or not, it was the principal.
I looked over to see that Riker was talking in a hush tone with Archer. His eyes running over my car, I didn't know what they were talking about but was something I didn't want to know.
"Are you ready!"
I looked over to see a hardly half dressed girl standing in front of our 5 cars that were lined up at the starting line. I couldn't help but roll my eyes, it felt like some cheap movie with her standing there. Her boobs basically bursting out of her tight v neck top and short shorts that were basically up her ass. I don't know how the girl thought it was flattering but I could see guys looking at her with lust from the corner of my eye. They were just creeps by the looks of them.
"On your marks!"
I knocked my car into gear getting ready to go. I allowed the car to roar to life as in spun the tires on the ground. I could smell burning rubber and I knew the tires were warming up.
"Go!"
Without even thinking I took my foot off the clutch and hard on the accelerator. My car took off like a shot. Quickly looking to my left I seen Ashley's car was level with mine. I knew it wouldn't be for long though and I let a grin cross my face as I knocked the car up a gear. The car shot forward even faster and I watched as the speedometer got quicker and quicker in 2 seconds this car hits 60 miles an hour it was not near 100.
Not needing to look at the sat nav I knew I needed to take the first left coming up. I could see Ashley not that far behind me and I knew I needed to take the corner wide in order to make sure I didn't hit her. Not going to lie wish I could but now wasn't the time.
Breaking the car hard I turned the steering wheel and let the car drift before putting my foot back on the accelerator. It was good to know I still had the skills.
I looked in the mirror and seen headlights right behind me. It was hard to see in the dark what car it was.
"It's probably the stupid bitch." I whispered to myself as I changed the gears of car.
"Nope it's Kyle." I heard a voice say and it completely caught me off guard and for a moment the car lost control.
"What the fuck!" I screamed as I looked down and seen Zoe's face on the dashboard grinning at me like a fucking child.
"I told you, you'd freak her out." I could hear Archer in the background reply. I couldn't see him but he was there somewhere.
"I'm only here to help her." Responded Zoe. I didn't really pay attention to her as I looked in the mirrors again to notice that Kyle, or what ever his name was, was slowing trying to take over.
I could hear Zoe and archer arguing in the background as I knocked the car into a even faster speed the right turn was quickly coming up and I needed to get Kyle off my ass.
I tried to think of something but I was coming up with nothing as all I heard was people arguing.
"Will you two shut the fuck up!" I yelled. I then seen a right turn before the one I was meant to go down come up. It was a risk to go off the course but I needed to try it.
Without a second thought I slammed by breaks on and went down the tight street.
"Where are you going?" Demanded Zoe as she watched on her tablet that I had went off track.
"A shortcut." Was all I said as I weaved in and out of other cars. They were flashing there lights and beeping their horns. I even flew past a cop car and I watched as they seemed to start to go after me but then changed there minds. They clearly read my number plate. Sometimes it was good to be rich.
Turning right at the end of the street I couldn't see that Kyle was behind me anymore and I let out a triumphal grin.
"I wouldn't get to excited Ashley is in front of you."
I look down at Zoe and could see that she was tracking everyone.
"How the fuck did the bitch get in front of me." Even I flinched at the venom that was in my voice.
Zoe shrugged and seemed to scroll through something. "You aren't the only one that knows shortcuts by the looks of it. Though hers was an alleyway and she almost killed a few people." She paused for a moment before continuing. "The bridge is rising, you'll need to go around it. Take the next left."
I scoffed and looked down at the speedometer to see I was going near 200 miles an hour. "Me and you both know I was never going around that bridge. I've jumped it once before I'm not scared to do it again."
"Lyra go around that bridge." I looked down to see Riker had pushed Zoe out of the way to look at me. I could see that he was deadly serious, he didn't want me to jump it.
"You're not the boss of me." I responded as I caught a glimpse of Ashley straight ahead.
"I am at this moment." He growled out.
I looked at him not believing that he had just said that. How dare he say something like that to me. I narrowed my eyes dangerously.
"Dude you did not just say that to her." This time it was Damon's voice in the background. Their was humour in his voice like he knew the mistake Riker had just made.
"You sir, can fuck off." I said looking Riker in the eyes for a moment before turning off the screen. I had enough of their shit and butting in. All I need was me and my car.
