Lesson Forty-Four - A Queen Isn't Born, She Is Made.

Zane Knight. The boy who had brought so many problems to my life from we were kids. The boy that knew everything about me and how to get under my skin. The boy, who if he really wanted to could probably ruin my life. He wouldn't though. He wasn't that type of person no matter what other people say. I was pissed with him I wasn't going to lie about that. I couldn't understand how everything was going on in his own house and he didn't know never mind anything else. How much control had he lost after everything that had happened between the two of us.

Zane's gang had been on power with Riker's when we were together but since everything, I've done nothing but watch them fall from grace day by day. Zane probably thought I never noticed but I did. He was losing control and it was about time I knocked some sense into him. He was never as dominate or as smart as Riker but loyalty was what drove him and his family. All that seemed to be out the window now and I didn't care what was going on with them in honesty but they were now putting my family in danger. For that he needed to pay.

Storming over to his car I watched as he got out not evening noticing I was here. Now that I took a good hard look at him I noticed that he wasn't the same person I had been once in love with. There was something going on but it wasn't my job to fix his problems anymore and it never would be. We were over with and it would stay that way. Zane would never be that person again after everything and the person he was now isn't the type of person I need in my life.

"Lyra?"

I didn't say anything as I got closer and I could see the questionable look on his face. I could feel my fist tighten with every step I took. My nails cutting into the skin on my palm. I was sure I was drawing blood but I didn't care. This boy needed to get his shit together before I took matters into my own hands.

Without another breath or even a glance to see who was watching I punched him square in the jaw. I could feel a large crack under the pressure but I knew I didn't break anything the same way I was sure I didn't break his jaw. I would never hit him that hard. As much as he pissed me off most of the time I couldn't do something like that. I didn't hate him.

He was leaning against his car completely thrown off balance. Hearing the gasps of other students around me I could see there shocked faces and seen some of them even start to talk out their phone. I wasn't going to stand here and be their entertainment of the day. The last thing I needed was the press seeing this and starting their own story on what is happening. Not that I really cared they were coming up with their own stories about my family every day.

"ALRIGHT YOU HAD YOUR FUN, GET TO FUCKING CLASS!"

Every single person must have heard the venom in my voice because before I even finished my sentence everyone was running back into the school. It wasn't long before it was just me and Zane standing in the car park. I knew Riker was still standing a bit off but I knew he wasn't going to butt in. I didn't even care if he was about to hear what was going to go down between me and Zane. I only had one thing on my mind and it was make sure I got through to this coward of a boy who's Empire was falling before his eyes.

"What was that for now?"

Zane's voice was low like he couldn't even be bothered to put up a fight. It wasn't the first time I hit him lately and frankly the way things were going it probably wouldn't be the last.

"Why the hell was Nisha Brooks in your house? Also why the fuck did she kidnap my mother? and if you even think about lying to me I will make sure you regret it." I growled out the last part of that sentence in warning. This boy had better think twice before trying to twist or pin the blame else were. I wasn't in the mood for his shit and I knew all his tricks better than anyone.

This time Zane looked at me like I was crazy. He seemed to forget about his jaw as he stood up straight but there was a clear red mark on it a clear sign he would have a nice bruise there tomorrow. I was kind of proud of that for a moment. Only a moment.

"What the fuck are you on about and how the hell do you know Nisha Brooks?"

Zane's whole posture changed as he spoke. He was suddenly well on his guard and looking around him almost like the woman was in the area with us. Judging from his reaction he didn't even know what was going and I was surprised. He was losing control, and losing my respect.

"I don't know who she is but I had a nice little chat with her while my mother was tied up in the basement of your house. So you better tell me now how the fuck you don't know about this when it is literally happening under your roof."

He rubbed his jaw once before before crossing his arms and leaning against his car. It was almost like he needed it for support as he tried to piece everything together. I could see it though he was coming up with nothing and that was annoying me even more. How could this boy be so stupid.

"I was in the next town over with my family, Lyra. As soon as you left that night I went to met them cause they needed my help with somethings. My Uncle Oliver was in charge while we were all gone."

I started to think about what he was saying. It was clear that Zane didn't know what was going on so I believe him when he said he wasn't even in the city. It was a bit weird though that he was called away the second my mother was reported to be kidnapped. There was something about this was all off. It didn't help either that Oliver was left in charge. What ever was going on he was clearly knew what was going down and he was involved.

Picturing the man with his thinning hairline and short stature of five foot five I couldn't get his cold brown eyes out of my head. The man had always hated me from the first time Zane had brought me to his house as kids to play when we were seven. I never understood why but that didn't mean anything sometimes a person just didn't like someone for whatever reason. Zane's dad had told me once that it was because he knew what I grow up to become. What ever that meant.

"Lyra Anderson, Riker Kennedy and Zane Knight." We all looked up to see a man in a suit walking towards use from the doors of the school. I had never seen him before but it was clear he was someone important and someone who wasn't scared to stand up to us. He wasn't like the normal teachers around this place who normally kept there head down and walked away when they seen us.

"Who are you?" Asked Riker as he walked over to join me and Zane. He looked bored and not really interested who the man was at all but I was curious.

"My name is Mr Davis."

Riker give him a pointed look as he stood beside me our shoulders touching. "And we are meant to care why?"

The man raised his eyebrows his light brown eyes looking amused as he took in the three of us standing in front of him. "I'm sorry I clearly didn't introduce myself I forgot the rules are different in this City. My name is Mr Davis and I am your new Principle and head of this school. You would know if you joined us all for the announcement when the bell rang."

I waved the man off losing all interest. He wasn't the first Principle to come in here and try to 'straighten us all out'. We were a school full of the rich and powerful, he was nothing more than someone who made promises to the school board that he couldn't keep.

"I don't really have time for this right now."

Mr Davis looked at me. "Lyra Anderson I am not another one of these people you can pay off. You have after school detention along with Mr Kennedy and Mr Knight. I would advise that you show up as well."

This time it was Zane who looked amused everything before this long forgotten about. "And what if we don't."

"Then you won't be graduating with everyone else." Mr Davis took a step towards us lowering his voice. "And you can beat on it that I will be keeping that over your heads. I know that the only way to make rich brats like you is with that threat and I can do it. So if I were you I would get to class right now."

For the first time in a long time I was completely caught of guard and I wasn't the only one. Riker and Zane's faces told me they were the same. I couldn't believe this man was threatening us. I had some respect for it though, he knew what to do to get what needed to be done. Even if we were rich we still need to graduate in order to take over our families Empires. What type of company would follow someone who didn't even get through High School and this man clearly knew it.

"I think you should-"

Cutting off Riker I spoke. "We are going......sir." and with that I grabbed Riker and Zane by the arm and started to drag the two of them into the school. I could see that everyone was watching through the window and the teachers had the biggest grins of them all. It looked like all of us 'rich brats' had a problem on our hands and he wasn't my only one. Oliver also needed to be found and talked to. There was so much going on lately from every part of my life it felt like my brain was going to explode.

"What are you doing?" asked Riker as we walked through the front doors of the school and stopped.

"Mr Davis is another problem for another day." I said as I turned my attention back to Zane who seemed thoughtful of the situation we were just in. "As for you I want you to get a hold of your uncle I want to talk to him."

Snapping out of his thoughts Zane nodded and pulled out his phone.

"I'll call him-" Zane's phone was taken from his hand as he spoke and we all turned to see that it was Mr Davis who was standing there rolling his eyes.

"What part of get to class don't you understand? As for this." Said Mr Davis holding Zane's phone in clear view. "I will be keeping it. There will be no phones being used in this school." With that he walked away none of us saying anything.

"He is going to be a problem." Remarked Zane as we watched Mr Davis walk away.

"Yea but not our biggest one right now."
