Lesson Seven - The Secret Of Your Future Is Hidden In Your Daily Routine.
"Lyra!" Screamed my mother has she walked through the door of the house. What was she doing here? More importantly who the hell invited her.
"What do you want?" I asked dodging her hug. She was getting braver. To brave if you asked me.
She scowled at me but said nothing probably knowing she wouldn't like any replies I would have.
"Alexander." My mother greeted my older brother as he walked down the stairs. Of course it was him that invited her. He was mommy's boy from the moment he was born.
Damon came around the corner stuffing his face with food, he too rolled his eyes when he seen the witch. I could already feel the vibes of annoyance coming from him.
This wasn't going to end well.
"What's she doing here?" I turned up my nose at the sight of his food in his mouth. Then I thought about it for a moment and knew I would rather see that sight again than my mother.
"You are all very rude to your mom."
Looking at the door I noticed Riker standing there leaning against it. I seen Damon step forward but I stood in front of him making sure to block his view. I didn't want mom knowing the fire she had just started.
The woman never noticed anything but if she did you didn't want her to get one up on you. That was a bad move in this game of chess our family always plays.
"I don't think how we speak to our mother is anything to do with you." I kept my voice calm and even. Even though I wanted to do nothing but hit him again. It had brought me so much satisfaction the first time, I'm sure if I did it again the same feeling would appear.
"It kind of is now, don't you think?" He smirked as he spoke. I watched as he ran his hand through his messy hair. I noticed the tattoo on his hand was fully healed, unlike my mother I noticed everything.
No detail ever got past me.
"No I don't think so. Now get out."
"Lyra." Warned Alex. I looked at him surprised.
What was he playing at, first letting our mother freely into the house and now Riker. I didn't fully mind him letting our mother into the house unfortunately she was blood.
Riker on the other hand was the enemy and you didn't let the enemy walk through your front door like he owned the place.
"You don't get to tell us what to do." I could feel the tension between Alex and Damon but I knew it was better to say nothing on that matter.
They had always had problems. I never knew why but I knew it was better to stay out of that one.
Sometimes you just had to let people deal with things themselves.
"I do when dad isn't here."
"Since when?" Asked Damon like it was the most stupidest thing he had ever heard. He also laughed like it was funniest joke he had ever heard and frankly I did the same.
Since when did Alex think he could tell us what to do.
"Since now." He ignored us and turned around to our mother once more.
In my eyes he needed to take his older brother role elsewhere. I only seen him a handful times a year these days and frankly with the way he was getting on it was a few to many.
"What is it you wanted to speak to us about mother?" Asked Alex I rolled my electric blue eyes at his politeness to the she devil.
She didn't deserve it.
She looked around for a moment with a frown on her face. "Where are the others I have some big news I wish to share with you all?"
Scoffing I gave her a pointed look. "What and you getting married to his fucking father wasn't enough for your crazy ass?" I pointed at Riker to get my point across but he didn't look offended at all just highly amused.
I'm sure our family looked like a joke to him and maybe it was but it was my family and he was starting to push me over the edge with his looks.
"Lyra!" Scolded my mother but I ignored her.
I heard Riker chuckle under his breath and I turned to glare at him. He really needed to leave before I did something that would either get me arrested or killed.
"What are you laughing at?" Bit out Damon. Sometimes I thought Damon and Riker hated each other more than I hated Riker and I didn't even think that was possible.
"Your family is actually a great sense of entertainment I'm not going to lie." Riker looked each one of us over looking highly amused. All it did was make me want to punch his face in. "Like think about it." he continued. "The crazy ass gold digging mother." I heard my Mother gasp and hold her hand to her chest like she was offended but I knew she didn't care.
She knew what she was I reminded her all the time of that fact.
"How dare you." My mother spoke but I rolled my eyes.
"Oh shut up." I told her and this time she glared at me but before anything else was said Riker continued.
"The oldest son who past up the opportunity to become one of the most powerful men in the world. Though between me and you Alex it wasn't your choice now was it?" Riker smirked like he knew something we didn't and I turned to face my oldest brother.
"What is he on about?" Asked Damon saying what was on our minds.
"Nothing." Spoke Alex glaring at Riker. It wasn't often I seen his calm composure go out into the wind but by looking at him this was one of those times. "You better watch what you say boy."
"Or what?" Riker rolled his eyes at the threat almost like it was empty. From years of knowing my brother, I knew it wasn't. Alex was one of the top business lawyers in the world he could try and take Riker for everything if he wasn't careful.
Riker then turned to face Damon. "Or how about the fact Damon here took himself out of the running of the empire because he is flunking out of school." Damon went to dive for Riker but I held him back and looked at my brother shocked. I didn't know Damon was failing?
I thought he was at the top of his class.
"You better shut up" growled out Damon.
"What? Didn't want your family to know that your grades are being paid for by your father because he doesn't want the world to know what a failure you are?"
"Shut up!" I pushed back my brother once more. I knew he wouldn't hurt me to get to Riker that's why I was the only one brave enough to stand between the two of them.
That didn't mean he couldn't get around me. Riker needed to be careful with what he said.
"You better leave" my voice was quite but I made sure that the power was there in order for Riker to get the hint that he better get the fuck out.
"Or what?" He smirked. "I'm sure if I looked deep enough I would find something about you too princess."
"I. Said. Get. Out." This time I turned and walked over to Riker and shoved him out of the grand door and slammed the door shut. I didn't care what he said about me in honesty but I didn't want to hear about anymore that he knew about my own family.
There was somethings that people just wanted to keep to themselves.
Turning around to face my family they were all looking like they were deep in their own thoughts. The only one I cared about though was Damon, he was my twin after all.
We always had each other's backs.
"Damon." But before I could say anything else he was walking away and I couldn't help but look at his retreating figure with worry. I didn't get a chance to go after him before my mother spoke.
"What a rude boy."
Red was all I could see at that moment.
How dare she come into our lives and mess everything up like that. Everyone had secrets and sometimes people wanted those secrets to remain just that, but because she went and brought the Kennedy's even closer into our lives they now knew to much.
They know more about us than we do about each other.
"This is all your fault you crazy bitch!" I screamed out. This time Alex didn't make a move to stop me, he just watched.
She gasped. "How is this mine." She looked hurt but I knew it was nothing but an act. At this point I don't think anything could hurt that woman. All she did was act I didn't know what was real about her anymore.
"Before you came into our lives again everything was great. My older brothers were off doing what they wanted to do without their name getting in the way and then you come back and fuck that up like everything. Why can't you just stay the hell away from us? What is it you want? Money? Is that what it will take to get rid of you because on behalf of us all I will personally write you a cheque to get the fuck out."
"This isn't about money." I never noticed how annoying my mothers voice was until that point. It made me want to put her head through a wall.
"Then what the hell is it about?" I growled out.
"I want us to all be together and be one big family again. I have come back to take back control of part of the company that I legally own."
In that moment I knew I wasn't getting rid of her anytime soon. I didn't know she owned anything to do with the company. The company that in another few years would be mine.
"What?" Asked Alex looking just as confused as me. Seemed like there was something that even mommy's boy didn't.
"I'm home baby." Screamed out my mother in excitement and she ran up to my brother giving him a big hug. Over my mother's shoulder Alex looked at me with an unbelievable look. He might be mommy's boy but in that moment I knew he thought this wasn't a good thing and he couldn't be anymore right.
***********
Sky looked at me after I told her everything like I had two heads. It was a look I was used to getting when I told my friends about anything that was happening in my life.
Apparently things that normally happened to me weren't normal to begin with.
"I'm so happy I'm not apart of your crazy ass family." She whistled out. She fell backwards onto my bed spreading herself out at she did so.
"My older brothers all get to leave and go back to their normal everyday lives. This is going to be my reality. With her getting married to Riker's dad it's going to be a whole lot worse. The Kennedy's are going to get a say in our company with her sitting on the board. She is to fucking stupid and money grabbing to even notice that they are going to use that for everything it is worth."
"If your mom got married to him and they stay together long enough and say they got divorced. Does that not mean the Kennedy's could also take that part of the company if they try and get it through court? After all they could probably get it, seeing as they're rich as fuck and can hire any lawyers they want."
I looked at my friend with an unbelievable look on my face. Sometimes without even knowing it my friend is a genius. How did I not think of that. How did I not see that is what they are up to. My mother is a stupid ass bitch she would just think she is using them for everything they are worth not the other way around. Plus this company is the only thing that woman would have that they would want.
Her own business isn't what you say is rolling in money.
My mother is hard work why would anyone want to stay with her unless their was a good enough reason and my friend just came up with it without even trying.
I dived for sky on the bed and she screamed in shock. "You my friend are a fucking genius." I said before getting up and running out of the room.
I heard her say 'thank you?' Basically confused out of her mind but I was to busy to stick around. I needed to find my dad I needed to tell him what they were up to.
I took a text and I quickly looked down at my phone. It was a number I didn't know but I knew straight away who it was.
-you work it out yet princess?-
