MAUSAM
I ran out of his blasted room.
Bastard.
Who does he think he is?
He was always like this?
Does he think he is only one wronged?
As if he had no hand in our strained relationship we called marriage.
Has, I scoffed.
I was in my room ,
When I saw Aruhi and Aarav peek from behind the door.
It brought fresh tears to my eyes.
God in all between why did my children has to suffer?
What did they do?
The children always suffer when their parents are not on good terms.
Who knew that Better than me.
So I forced myself to smile,
" Oh god , I think there are two mouse here.
I must go and get my cat."
And My daughter laughed
" No mouse mamma , it's me and bhaiya."
" That was a lame joke." Aarav sassed.
" Achchha ji." I said.
" Mummy , are you and dad fighting?" Ari asked me , her bottom lip jutting out in thought.
" What ? Off course not baby , vo to papa ghar late aage the to Mumma ne unhe Datt diya khub Sara." I smiled at them and carefreely jumped down on bed , patting it , and they both jumped on it , sitting on each side of me.
( It is just your dad was late today so I scolded him. )
" It's Friday , we always go out for dinner on Friday. " Aarav said silently.
Yes , we had made a routine of going out on Friday,
But since Armaan came home very late,
And did not take any of my calls,
Children had dinner .
" Ha to hum ice cream khane chalenge?" I told them .
( So we will go out for ice cream)
" Chalo , ready ho jao , Arohi jao papa Ko bol de ki hum San ice cream khane jayenge." I told her and she ran off screaming.
(
Come on let's get ready , Arohi , tell your papa that we are going out for ice cream)
" Did you do your homework?" I asked Aarav.
He nodded somberly.
" Do you want me to check it?"
He nodded.
" Okay , show me."
" Umm, did you fight because I did not change uniform!" He mumbled.
" Hmm. Oh no baby, of course not." I said feeling my heart clench.
His small fists were clenched , he was so little , even though he acted like an adult," oh baby" and I hugged him , patting him.
" Really?" He asked me hopefully.
" Off course mom dad are just arguing about silly things , it has nothing to do with you , mon dad are just big kids like you , we fight all the time but we don't mean it." I lied to him partially , and partially telling him the truth , I did not want even a bit of doubt in his mind that he was the cause of his parents fights.
" Mamma , papa is ready." Aruhi ran to me , with her father in his black t-shirt and sweat pants.
He took in how Aarav was wrapped around me,
And I tightened my hold on him.
" Aapne khana khaya?" I asked him.
( Did you eat?)
" No one asked me." He replied coolly.
I frowned.
"Mene aapka khana table per hi Rakha that." I said.
(Your food is on the table)
Did he not want to eat?
He shrugged." I thought you did not make my food , since you did not ask me."
"Huh." I was dumbfounded.
" I don't feel like eating , let's go." He said somberly .
And Aarva and Arohi ran outside ,
Excited.
He glared at me," ye me apne bachcho ke liye kar Raha hai, ye mat samajhna Mene tumhe maaf kar diya."
( I am doing this for our children ,
Don't think that I forgive you.)
Forgive me !
For what!
What did I even do!
I glared at him in defiance.
" Hum bhi apne bachcho ke liye hi aapke Sath jaa rahe he, aaj hum dinner karne Jane Wale the bahar,
Per na hi AAP aage or nahi aapka phone Laga." I said and left without looking back at him.
( I too am doing this for our children,that is why I am coming with you,
We were supposed to go out for dinner
But neither did you pick u the phone nor you came home")
Who does he think he is?
Slimy slime.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
" Papa there is a new galeto parlour , let's go there!" Aarav said as he told us about where we should go.
" Mumma mujhe light wala balloon chahiye." Arohi asked.
( Mom I want baloon with lights)
" Ha , ha."
As We settled on table , Arohi and Aarav ran to the counter,"Â slowly , Aarav ." I shouted
" Suniye , unke peeche jayye , verna puri dukan kharif lenge ye dono." I told Armaan.
( Listen, please go after them or they would buy the whole shop)
" Kharid Lene do , I can afford it."
( Let them, I can afford it)
I scoffed and looked at him.
He narrowed his eyes," why ? do you have some doubt?"
" Ab bahar bhi ladenge AAP mujhse? "
( Now you will fight with me outside too?)
He twisted his mouth and said ," konsa flavour layu tumhare liye?"
( What flavour do you want?)
"Huh" the change of topic caught me off guard.
" What ice cream do you want? Are you not able to understand simple words?" He asked.
" Kuch nahi chahiye mujhe " I said and turned my head.
( I don't want anything.)
He frowned.
" Kyun" he looked at me , with eyes narrow ,
And dark clouds of anger shoruded him.
( Why?)
I was baffled by his anger, and was off gaurded .
" I don't want anything of yours."
I said huffed , turning my face away from him.
I felt his dark angry gaze on me linger for a time and I felt something, maybe even guilty.
I do not know why.
And then he left.
I took a sigh of relief.
Then my eyes met another woman of middle age.
She laughed softly , maintaining eye contact.
" They get all bristly bear when they feel like we don't need them. Hurts their feelings you know."
" Huh?" I was confused and a bit surprised.
" Your husband. All husbands are like that. Tell them you don't need them and they get hurt." She laughed as she whispered conspiratory.
I just smiled at her , only if she knew how much Armaan did not care for me at all.
