MAUSAM

I was trembling all over when I stepped into the house.

I felt ill, I felt I do not know why but disappointed and gutted.

It was his words , he said ," it is not like I want our marriage to work or anything." How heartlessly how easily he has said those words.

" Aa gayi maharani! Tum kaha jati Rehti ho, Abhi bachcho ka school se Lotne ka time hone wala he , mene to Armaan se pehle hi kaha tha ki koi zimmedari na de tumhe , Tum jesi ladki nahi kar payegi , per mera bichara beta use lagta he Tum maa ho to khayal rakhogi." Her mother in law Reha Kapoor taunted her, descending the stairs in her sophisticated green sari , with her beautiful figure.

( So the Queen has  finally graced us with her presence. Where did you go , it's time for the the kids to return from school, I told  Armaan that don't give this girl any responsibility , girls like you can't take responsibility , but my poor Armaan thought that you are their mother you would take care of them best.)

My head hurt , and so did my heart.

" Mummi ji , aaj vo dono apne friends ke ghar Jane wale he , sham Ko aayenge." I told her slowly , I had no mood to get into anotber argument , I did not trust myself to be okay after an argument today , I felt like if she said anything more I would bash her head against wall.

( Mom, the kids will go to their friends house today, they will return in evening")

Her face froze and a cold angry gleam entered her eyes ," tsk , so you thought to leave and have fun right? Now that kids aren't here you won't take Armaan's tiffin. Don't worry I already sent my son food." She said condenscendingly.

' I see.' I said and turned to leave for my room.

" Today I am hosting a party , stay in your room, you don't have to come out." She slurred and I stiffened , off course I would never be presented her daughter in law by her to the world , I embarrassed her so.

I had fallen asleep after taking sleep medication.

But a constant noise jerked me up.

" Huh" I said groggily to the constant noise.

" Mausam " Armaan's face appeared in front of me .

" Ughhh." I screamed and stumbled back , but I could not.

As the fog cleared I realised I was in his arms , " what ? What is it?"

" I told you she was fine. " My mother in law grumbled and huffed.

Why was she here?

Armaan's arms tightened around me,"what were you thinking? Why did not you wake up? I called you but you would not." His eyes shut close and a frown appeared.

" Why did you do that?" He said with his teeth clenched.

" I don't understand." I said and tried to get out of his arms , but they were like cage around me. I did not understand what he was talking about? And why is he in my room? I was sure I locked it.

" Sir , the doctor has arrived." A servent said.

" Tell him to wait."Armaan ordered impatiently.

" Mausam can you? Can you here me?" He whispered.

" Yes , but why are you here?" I asked looking at him .

" I tried to wake you up but you would not wake up , like for half an hour , I got worried." His eyes were red and mad , his hair a mess , his fingers were digging into my flash. Oh so he meant why I was sleeping so deeply!

" Oh I took sleeping pill that's why." I said non chalantly and moved away from him.

I saw my mother in law , all ready for the party standing there and the few servents.

Why were they all gathered here? What happened ?

As I was about to ask him why everyone was here, he grabbed my chin , "What do you mean sleeping pill? It is not safe. You can't take them!" He shouted as he gripped my hand.

" Don't be dramatic ! One pill is fine." I said equally heated.

" Mausam , you!" His voice rose and I flinched.

" Everyone out." He barked , no one moved and he glared at them and suddenly everyone ran , even my mother in law grumbled and shiftly left.

He slammed the door shut.

I obsereved him, he was breathing heavily , his fists were forming tightly and then he loosened them, his jaw clenched , he exhaled and looked up at the ceiling.

He was angry , very angry.

Why? I did not understand.just because I took sleeping pill?

" What ? What is it?" I whispered uncertainly.

His eyes whipped to me , narrowed.

" What is it? You ask me what is it? You dare.." he uttered the words slowly , silently , the calmness of it did not fool me .

My own breath was laboured , his angry state was affecting me .

And then he chuckled humourlessly.

My eyes widened , " Armaan."

Did he lost his marbles?

" Um Armaan." I took his name, getting up , I clutched his shirt sleeve.

He stopped chuckling , his all attention on me, his eyes like an animal focused on his prey.

" Hmmm. Tell me Mrs.Kapoor , what do you think just happened?" He asked me , his hands planted on my nape , making me look straight in his eyes.

I felt flustered , what happened to him? Is he drunk? .

I tried to remember what was he saying as I woke up.

" That I I took sleeping pill and you could not wake me up." I answered feeling something in my stomach , why did he have such an effect on me?

" Hmm. Good answer." He hummed.

" So you know what you did wrong?" He asked , fisting my hair around his palm.

" Armaan, you." I breathed.

" I what?" He mouthed , so close he did not even have to utter the words.

" What are you doing?" I asked him , still dazed. It felt like I was under this weird spell of his.

" What are YOU doing?" He narrowed his eyes , taking a step , forcing me to  step back.

" Taking sleeping pill." Another step.

" Getting unconscious."another step.

" Do you know what could have happened to you?" Another step.

I felt the cold wall on my exposed back.

" I don't know why you are making such a big deal out of nothing." I whispered , it perplexed me , just because I was sleeping soundly be taking the pill , it did not mean it was harming my body. Wait did he think I ?

" Did you think I took a lot pills in stress to end my life?" I gasped , is that what he thought? Why?

His shoulders tensed.

He scoffed.

" Don't be so careless like this , this medication are not good for you." He said in a clipped voice , and snatching the pills from the counter he stormed out.

" Oh , and there is a party tonight , please get ready and come downstairs." He ordered me before striding to his office.

I do not understand this man.

He made all this fuss over such a little incident!

If he want us to not have any relationship then why can't he just ignore me? Oh because of his kids right ? Because I am his so called legal wife ? The mother of his kids!

And what is this nonsense about me attending his mother's party? Why suddenly he wants me attend?

Reha Kapoor will murder me tonight if I dare to let my shadow be seen at her party.

But since my husband ordered me I would have to go , let's see what Kapoor family have for me in store!
