Epilogue

5 years later......

Corrin pov

“Come on you guys we’re going to be late! First day of kindergarten and we’re going to be late.”

I pace back and forth downstairs holding little Mabel’s hand when finally Dominick comes running down with Tona trailing behind. I rush them along when Dominick grabs his little backpack by the entryway. We all rush outside and climb into the car strapping the kids in when we head off to the school.

It takes about twenty minutes but we finally find a parking spot when we unload. We gather everyone together and we make our way across the street onto the school grounds. We are headed to room 23 in the back. While we slowly I can see Dominick getting excited to start this new adventure in his life. He has his light up tennis shoes on with some jeans and a button up shirt.

When we get closer he gets excited jumping up and down looking at me and Tona. Tona nods his head letting go of his hand when he goes running ahead in front of us. He squeals as he yells out so he could hear.

“Uncle Damian and Aunt Tina you made it! You made it for my first day of school!”

“How could we miss such a big day for you buddy!”

Damian and Tina get down to eye level with Dominick each giving him a big hug. I walk over hugging Tina while Damian shakes Tona’s hand.

“Hey you guys thank you so much for letting us be a part of these moments. It means everything to me! He’s getting so big I just can’t believe it!”

“Don’t worry about it man! After what you did by protecting them, I knew you should have some part also.”

“How long are you guys staying for?”

“A few days, Damian wanted to be here when he got out and visit during this time.”

I nod my head when I see Dominick’s teacher make an appearance announcing for the parents to escort their child inside and help them get to their seats. We all file in when Damian and Tona help little Domi find his seat and hang his backpack up. We all stand around listening to the teacher and once the introductions are done we all decide to head out and meet back at the cabin.

We park when I see Kelly start to panic hiding behind Jack. She knows we have had contact but has never seen or met him in person. Damian notices this and stands back trying to figure out what is going on. I walk up to him when I explain Kelly is the nurse from the ob/gyn clinic. The one who snuck me out and helped me escape. He just looks at me wide eyed and over towards her. I hand Mabel over to Tona when I walk over grabbing her trembling hand and pulling her with me. She stands right behind me trying to hide when Damian opens his mouth to talk to her.

“Thank you Kelly! Thank you for risking your life and helping Corrin escape. If you hadn’t, none of this would be possible right now.”

I feel her slowly peek over my shoulder at him whispering.

“You’re welcome?”

He smiles when she runs back to Jack full speed and pulls him to go inside. No doubt heading up to their room to hide out. I just smile and laugh when we all head inside to visit.
