Chapter 16: confession

After the shower, I quickly wrapped myself in my pink, fluffy bathrobe to escape the cold air. One of the worst moments for hot showers is most likely the second you leave the shower and the hot steam and your body hits the cold air.

However. I briefly blow-dried my hair so that it was no longer soaking wet and hurried across the cold tiles to my room. Even though it was summer, it could cool down considerably during the nights, so I had to rely on my thick wool blanket.

I picked up my cell phone from the mattress when I received a new message from Jungwon. Curious, I entered the chat.

Jungwon:

"What were Heeseung and you doing in the fitting room 😏 "

What the hell is going on with this guy. Jungwon was always the cuddly and cute type of person. He shouldn't spend so much time with Jay in my opinion.

Hyeona:

Nothing wth! I called after you to hand my phone to me. But he said you were shitting, so he gave it to me.".

Jungwon:

And do you think like this day has strenghtened your bond???

Hyeona:

If you dont stop wish this crap, I'm coming over to kill you!!

Jungwon:

My Hyeo baby is so in luuuv

Okay! Enough! I left our chat, almost throwing my phone against the wall because I couldn't take his cringiness any longer. But I swiped directly over to Heeseungs chat. The last message he sent, was three years ago, before I left to the airport.

But as if by magic, the yellow snapchat icon popped up at the top of my screen, showing a new message from Heeseung.

Immediately, my heart started pounding like crazy when I opened the picture he just sent me.

Him sitting on his bed, head resting against the headboard. Wet tousled hair. And a basic black T-shirt.

How on earth should I ever survive the following days, when he keeps sending me this kind of pictures. I zoomed closer to the picture. He's flawless. Everything of him is flawless. His jawline. His neck. Gosh, I wanna touch his neck so bad.

Does it sound weird?

Probabaly yes.

Heeseung:

„Can I call you?"

I slowly lowered my phone down on my belly while gulping hard. Call me? Like right now? Why on earth would he want to call me? Damn, my heart started beating so fast. I'm close to a heart attack.

Hyeona:

„Right now?"

I tipped, needing multiple attempts because of my shaky hands.

Heeseung:

„If you aren't busy?"

Quickly, I got up from my bed and rushed towards my window. From up here, I had a perfect view over our whole garden. So I fortunately spotted Sunghoon in the whirlpool as always. Zoomed out with headphones in his ears and head leaned back.

Hyeona:

„No I'm not"

I quickly sprinted back to my bed and rested my back against the wall, while hugging my knees. No even a second later, my phone started buzzing and I answered the call hesitantly.

„Hyeo?"

„Oh, I didn't expect you would do a video call". I turned the camera away from my face in embarrassment and tried to fix my wet hair.

„Sorry. I just came out of they shower, so I look pretty messy.", I apologized.

I noticed him chuckling after my face appeared back into the camera. „ Don't worry, same."

YEEAAHH sure! I doubed he ever looked like shit...

Heeseung cleared his throat before his face switched back into looking more serious.

„So, there's basically something I wanna ask you.". He started, which immediately increased my heartbeat once again.

„I would have rather talked to you in person about this, but there were always some other people around."

„O-Okay?"

„So, the night when I walked you home after Jay's birthday, you said that you like me.", he lowered his head a little, while my mind went blank.

I WHAT? Okay, it's official! I'll never ever drink a sip of alcohol again.

„You were really drunk back then, so I didn't take it serious. But...I thought about it a couple of days, and want to know if you really meant it.".

It went silent in my room. He glared at the camera, waiting for me to answer something.

But I remained silent. My head overwhelmed with the question, with all that just happened.

What if I said no? Perhaps I would lose my only chance and regret it for the rest of my life, and have to keep on living with a broken heart because I was too scared to even try it.

But again, if I told the truth, I could lose everything. Friendships. My brother's trust when Heeseung told him about it. And of course a rejection, because my feelings were one-sided.

Besides, to like someone is a very strong word. Isn't it more like a little crush? Like, is it even possible to really like someone when you barely talked to each other?

I completely blacked out, a million thoughts rushed around in my brain.

Heeseung seemed to notice, I was overwhelmed with his question and apologized immediately.„Sorry... I...it was probably a little bit too direct. I shouldn't have...".

"It's true"

I interrupted him, what made him broke off in the middle of his sentence.

„ I, It's actually true.", I repeated. „I'm sorry, I know this shouldn't have happened...". I couldn't bring myself to look at the display one more time to see his reaction. I didn't want to see it.

„Hyeo".

I still couldn't bare to look at him.

„Are you free tomorrow?", he asked, which made me finally glance up. „I wanna see you.".

„I mean if you want, too.", he added.

„Uhm...y-yeah I think I am.", I replied shakily.

A soft smile spread all over his face „Cool"

But in the next second, the corners of my mouth dropped again. „But I think I can't.", I slowly shook my head, while kneading my hands. "Sunghoon..."

"Does he need to know?", his smile increased into a smirk as he tilted his head.

I could hardly believe what I was hearing. He would hide it from his best friend for a nobody like me?

„Are you being for real?". I shifted my sitting position, placing my pillow beside me.

Heeseung nodded. „Can I pick you up at 6 pm?".

I twisted to the side to be able to see the clock on my wall. "That's perfect. What...uhm...where are you planning to go?", I shyly asked with excitement.

"I have something in mind. You'd better wear long, warm clothes.". He indicated.

I nodded with a smile.

„Ah, one more question.", Heeseung suddenly had one more thing in his mind.

I bend my head to the side in wonder.

„Did you made a screenshot of my snap once again?", He couldn't help but start laughing at his own question and I panically followed along.

"Of course not!". I clarified, my cheeks burning red by the second. "The first one was by accident, though. I swear!". I raised my pinky, even though it's obviously a lie.

"Yeah sure! I'm totally believing you!". Heeseung chuckled.

But exactly at this moment, my room door got ripped open.

"You're here?". Sunghoon stood in the door frame with swimming trunks and a towel hanging around his shoulders.

I flinched and placed my phone from reflex upside down on the mattress. "Obviously yes.".

His eyes dropped to my hand, where I hid my phone below, praying for god's sake that Heeseung won't say a word.

"Who are you talking to?".

"Jungwon". I answered dry and quickly to get him out of my room as fast as possible.

My brother nodded slowly. „I'm about to leave for a party. Just so you know.", he replied and left my room again.

I remained silent for a few more seconds before I fumbled my phone out from under the pillow.

„Sorry. Sunghoon came to my room.". Still speaking in a low voice. Safety first, you know.

„No problem. So it's settled? Tomorrow at 6 pm?", Heeseung asked and I nodded quickly.

„See you tomorrow.". I waved briefly into the camera.

„Sleep well, Hyeona.". He was fixing his hair while wishing me a good night, before he ended our video call.

Oh my fucking god. I buried my face deeply in my pillow and pounded my feet on the mattress.

There's no way Heeseung asked me for a date after I admitted that I fucking like him.

Wait...it IS a date. Isn't it?

It's unreal

It feels goddamn unreal!

But where would he like to take me? Cinema is an option. It's quite cold there because of the air conditioning. Nooo...I can't take it anymore. I need to know now.

There's no way, that I will get a wink of sleep tonight.
