Quite quickly, a few days passed. I could temporarily forget my appointed summer resolution, because I caught a fat cold after the day of the pool party
For about 4 days now, I barely left my room. Only for eating and going to the bathroom. A sudden call from Jungwon brightened my mood a tiny bit.
"Hey what's up?", he asked
"You're funny.", i rolled my eyes and pulled my blanket up to my chin.
"I'm sitting here, sweating like crazy and, you're wrapped up like it's winter."
"Yes? That's a logical consequence of a cold," i laughed.
Jungwon rolled over on his bed so that he was lying on his stomach with his head buried in a pillow.
"Nah for real.", I smiled. "It's getting better every day. I passed about half a week of holidays, but in a few days I'll be good.".
"Can I come over? I don't mind getting sick.".
"If you want to. But i look like death himself," i warned him.
"Since when do I care what you look like?"
"Ouch...". I held my chest. "See you in a minute.".
I left my room and head into the bathroom to change my stinky jogging suit, which I haven't taken off for days, for something normal.
That's the moment when I heard loud whooshing and smashing noises from downstairs in the living room.
"Sunghoon, what the fuck are you doing?", I called downstairs, but paid no further attention.
But even when I stepped out of the bathroom looking relatively alive, these noises had not yet disappeared. I sighed and walked down the stairs. Jungwon would be there soon anyway.
If our parents weren't always at work and knew what sometimes goes on at home, they would have grounded Sunghoon long ago. This guy is laziness personified. Even more than me, and that's hardly possible.
"Sunghoon! Can't you turn that off?", annoyed, I stepped into the living room. "I have a head...."
I immediately broke off when I saw 4 guys sitting on our sofa, all staring at me.
"You what...?" my brother repeated, annoyed and threw the video game controller on the side to walk to the fridge.
"Little Park...long time no see," Jay slurred as he took a swig from his beer bottle in front of him.
I was shocked to see that the whole table was full and Sunghoon had just returned with 4 more bottles.
"Are you guys stupid? It's not even 2 o'clock yet.". I took two bottles from his hand, and he reacted as expected. "Can't you go back upstairs if you're just being annoying? The last few days have been so peaceful without you, so let us gamble in peace.".
He snatched the two bottles out of my hand again and sat down with his friends on the sofa.
I noticed that Heeseung was looking at me, while I was still shocked by Hoon's action.
"Never mind. Do whatever you want," I finally gave up when the doorbell rang.
"Who is it, bro? I thought your parents weren't coming until tonight," Jake said indignantly as he took a whole handful from the snack box.
"It's Jungwon," I answered in his place, and immediately got another ambiguous look from Jay.
Sunghoon didn't seem to care. He was still used to my best friend hanging out at our house three years ago.
So I went to open the door for him.
"Match!", Jay's voice has been heard right as he entered the house from the living room.
"When are you going to stop calling me that?", Jungwon rolled his eyes in annoyance as he joined the others in the living room.
"Do you want a water... or something?", I asked him as I buried my hands in my pants pockets.
Jay, in the meantime, lured Jungwon to him with inviting hand motions. "Ahhh...no thanks." he replied quickly.
But Heeseung suddenly got up from the sofa. "I want one.". He put the controller on the side, which made Sunghoon and Jake groan in annoyance as they had to interrupt the game.
"What about your beer man?" shouted Jake indignantly.
"I'll drink it later." he replied in a muffled voice from the pantry. Of course, he knew where the water bottles were.
In the meantime, I opened the cupboard to get a glass for him, but quickly realized that my brother had done a great job cleaning up the glasses from the dishwasher.
I looked up and noticed that all the clean glasses were put away on the top shelf. Pissed off, I addressed my brother. "Yahh, you know you're not supposed to put that stuff op there...".
I suddenly flinched as I felt a hand on my shoulder and the other reaching for a glass above my head. " Right Hoon, your sister is way too short," Heeseung laughed.
"Thanks for making fun of me again," I turned on the spot and froze when I noticed that Hee hadn't moved a step. He looked down at me, probably wondering why I was startled.
"What?" he laughed and finally moved to the side so that I was no longer literally squeezed between him and the counter.
Still surprised by what had just happened, my hands reached for the tabletop in front of me, my eyes searching for Jungwon. "Can we go upstairs then?".
But Jungwon obviously had a grin on his lips that he was trying to suppress. "Sure," he reluctantly stepped away from Jay and the couch.
"Ah and Jungwon.", the latter called after him with a grin. "Never mind what you're doing up there. Just keep it down, please."
Of course, I understood what Jay was trying to say, but I hadn't cared by now. I didn't understand why people simply can't understand that Jungwon and I had absolutely no intention of having a relationship with each other.
We were just ordinary best friends, but the comments that others and especially Jay threw at us were getting more and more awkward every time. Maybe because we both weren't 15 anymore and now actually at that age ..... OKAY STOP.
Never in my life would I even think for a second of starting a friends with benefits thing with him, just because people expected it.
"What was that?" the redhead asked me suddenly, with still the same grin.
"What was what?", I frowned in wonder as we climbed the stairs.
Only when we reached my room, he continued talking. "You and Heeseung?".
But I quickly shook my head. "There's nothing! Don't know what you're talking about.".
"Yeah right. That's why you looked like that, like a kid unwrapping presents at Christmas."
I knew Jungwon was exaggerating, but of course I knew what he was talking about. Because, obviously, I also knew that my body behaves very weirdly when he's around.
I was a little overwhelmed and stammered confused stuff. "Since when do you like him?", he finally asked.
Taken aback, I started laughing. But in reality, I was closer to burst into tears than burst into laugh. "I'm only here for about a week, won...".
"I noticed it at the football field too. When you talked to him, you were nervous as hell.".
Finally, I sat down on my bed. "Maybe it's a little crush?", I said, but it sounded more like a question. Jungwon jumped on my bed as well, laying down on the big pillow hill. "Soo...why don't you go for it? I mean, I know I'm not the best example, but you should try it.".
"It'll never happen.", I answered quickly. "Heeseung has just broken up with his girlfriend because she cheated on him. Besides, you know there's also Sunghoon...".
Heeseung is probably the same type of guy like my brother. I'm sure there are hundreds of girls who are already waiting like in a queue for a chance, and then I come along? No. As I said. That will never happen.
"Topic change.", I finally diverted attention. "You know there's Jay's birthday party next weekend...I maybe thought about crashing that party.", I smirked. "Like, you know, of course I'm not officially invited, but I've never been to Jay's house before. So why not just show up? I think he wouldn't mind. You in?".
But Jungwon hesitated. "This Saturday?", he asked. "It's my sister's university graduation, you forgot? I have to attend there..."
I pouted. "But I don't wanna go on my own."
"Why don't you ask Jake if you could escort him. You told me he's pretty nice."
"It's a party, won. You can't come along with an escort when it's someone's private party.", I laughed. "So...I think I'm gonna go on my own.", a smirk grew on my face. "I really wanna see Sunghoon's face."
