Jocelyn ignored Fiona’s reaction.

She glanced at Davis and nodded. She then reached out her arm to pat Yvie’s shoulder. She gestured for her not to do anything rash and walked into Davis’s office. Jocelyn closed the door. Davis spoke up calmly, “Don’t pay any mind to Fiona’s words. It’s obvious that she’s jealous of you!”

Jocelyn laughed and said, “I don’t mind! Anyways, this is just the start for me. I’ll have plenty of opportunities to prove myself!” Davis chuckled. “It’s great that you can think that way. Interact more with everyone else during the gathering tonight. I hope that you can shine brightly in Prosperity Jewelry However, I don’t want you to have too many enemies in the design department. That won’t benefit you in any way. After all, each and every person is capable of creating a butterfly effect that will generate huge consequences!”

Jocelyn nodded and looked at Davis intently. “I understand, Director Lang.” Davis smirked. “It’s fine as long as you understand. I won’t say anything else. This is what the executives of the company think about your future progress. You have won the grand prize of the Century Jewelry Competition through this opportunity!”

He looked at Jocelyn and changed the tone of his voice “However, in the past two years, you didn’t have any work. Lily white attended many competitions with your work. You should understand that you weren’t the one who personally participated in those competitions. Even though she plagiarized you, the truth of this entire matter isn’t clear to the public. Some people still take Lily’s side. Public opinion will be divided as well.”

“Now that you’re eligible to participate in any competitions within the country, participate in a few more competitions after that to build your foundation. Make preparations to enter the international fashion jewelry industry in the future! This is the information regarding a few recent competitions. You can look up the competition criteria and choose one of them. After that, send a design draft over for the first round of evaluation!”

Jocelyn nodded and accepted the documents from Davis. She bowed down at him and said,” Thank you, Director Lang!”

Davis laughed in amusement. “Why are you being so courteous toward me? I’m your senior!”

Jocelyn blinked her eyes and glanced at him, “Since that’s the case, I won’t hold myself back from saying this. Since you’re treating us tonight, can I bring a friend over to the gathering?” Davis was stunned. “A friend?”

Jocelyn laughed and glanced at him. She then smiled and said, “It’s Lexie Lane!”

Davis came to a realization at once.

Jocelyn chuckled and said, “She’s been recuperat ing well lately. Her cast has been removed!” Lexie called her almost every day for the past two days. She kept asking her to help her out and let her meet up with Davis. Davis laughed and said, “Of course, she can come over. She’s one of my juniors as well. She can join anytime. You didn’t have to ask me!”

Jocelyn smiled and thought that Lexie would be way too embarrassed to do so.

She laughed and said, “In that case, I’ll tell her about it!”

Davis nodded.

At night, Jocelyn met Lexie at the entrance of Serene Court. She noticed the evident joy on her cold face.

Jocelyn smiled and said, “Go on in. Very soon, you’ll be able to see the senior that you miss so badly!”

Lexie cast a sideways glance at her. Jocelyn understood her extremely well. She could see a hint of embarrassment under her icy expression.

Both of them walked into Serene Court. They then ran into someone that was walking out in a hurry while using his phone. The person shouted out at once, “Can’t you f*cking see that I’m here?”

Jocelyn’s expression hardened at once. She looked at the girl, who had exquisite makeup on her face. It was hard to imagine that these rude words had come out of the girl’s mouth.

Her expression grew heavier as she said, “Speak more courteously. You were the one who walked around without looking!”

The girl did not expect Jocelyn to speak up against her like that. She reached out and tried to hit Jocelyn, but Jocelyn grabbed her wrist and asked, “Are you trying to hit me?” The girl’s face distorted in rage.

“Move out of my way! What are you even? How dare you treat me that way?”

Jocelyn said in a sarcastic tone, “Well, what are you then? Why wouldn’t i dare to treat you like this?

You’d better wrap your mind around this. I won’t offend anyone that doesn’t offend me!”

The girl raised her leg and tried to kick Jocelyn. Jocelyn had never met such an insensible woman.

She cursed while speaking and hit people when she could not win over them in an argument. She even tried to kick Jocelyn when she held her arm.

She was beyond angered. She grabbed the girl’s arm and pulled her to the front. She then pressed down on her shoulder with her other hand. She performed a clean shoulder throw and smashed the girl on the ground.

The girl shouted out in pain. She glared at Jocelyn in rage “You’re f*cking asking for your own death!”

Jocelyn had never met such an insensible person. She looked down at her from above and said, “You have such a filthy mouth. You’d better brush your teeth a few more times before leaving the house!”

After Jocelyn finished speaking, she dragged Lexie away with her. Lexie could tell that Jocelyn was not in a good mood. She changed the topic at once. “Your shoulder throw was extremely cool!” Jocelyn glanced at her as her expression sank. “This isn’t a good topic. I’m recalling the person that taught me how to fight instead!” Lexie was stunned. An unnatural expression instantly formed on her face. “Stop thinking about it. It’s all in the past!”

Lexie knew that Jocelyn had always been surrounded by admirers in high school due to her pretty looks.

After that, she met Walter Keene. He was the one who had taught her how to fight. That way, she would be able to fend off herself even when nobody was there to protect her.

However, the person that taught Jocelyn how to fight back then had long parted ways with her.

Back then, part of the reason why Jocelyn got together with Howard was because of Walter as well.

Everything was way too complicated back then. Lexie could not judge what had happened.

However, Lexie understood Jocelyn. Regardless of why she got together with Howard, she wanted to be in a loving romantic relationship. However, she did not expect Howard to betray her in the end.

When Jocelyn and Lexie walked into the restaurant, Davis had already arrived.

He waved his hand and gestured for Jocelyn and Lexie to head over to his side. Jocelyn and Lexie sat down beside Davis. They then saw Fiona pushing open the door and entering the room. She then closed the door. She was just about to walk over to Davis’s side when he noticed Jocelyn seated beside him. An unpleasant expression instantly appeared on her face. However, before she could do anything, the door of the room suddenly got kicked open by someone from outside.
