I open my eyes, the bright sunlight peeking through the lines of the woods, the warm sunlight faintly grazing my cheeks. Today was my one day off from running into the maze, now that I finally became an official runner, it was definitely nice to have a break from the maze for a day.

They decided that all the leaders should probably pay attention to the girl, and how she has a connection towards Thomas, and why she came up in the box just after another girl had.

I didn't necessarily like the fact that this specific girl had somewhat of a connection with Thomas, it was a feeling I've never felt before, and I didn't know what to call this specific feeling.

I slowly sat up, noticing I had a bit of a headache the second I had woken up. A piercing pain on the side of my head, throbbing pain almost, as if someone was knocking a wooden bat on the side of my head.

I groaned in irritation, I didn't want to have a headache on the one day I had off.

I slowly get up, trying my best not to get a head rush and make the headache worse. I made my way over to my clothes, picking up a hoodie and slipping it over my body, hoping the hoodie would comfort my aching body.

I stepped out of the hut, the first thing I was seeing was Minho walking with Newt and Gally, while Thomas talked with Chuck from afar. I watched Minho walk with the boys, paying attention to his body language, how his mouth moved when he talked, everything about him. I wanted to get closer with MInho, as friends of course, I wanted to be his friend.

My gaze abruptly moved towards Thomas, wondering if he was talking about that strange girl to Chuck, or maybe Newt was talking about the strange girl? I sighed in frustration, trying to get my mind off the girl entirely, I didnt have the energy to worry about who was talking or thinking about her.

I walked out of the hut, a few of the gladers noticing me but just went back to their duties casually as if I was just a dog. I was okay with that, I wasn't really the type that enjoyed being the center of attention, perhaps once in awhile, cause everybody loves people's attention on you and only you.

I glanced one last time at the boys, hoping that they wouldn't see me, cause they would probably run up to me and just talk about that stupid shank of  a girl---

Stop thinking like that Y/n.

Once again, I tried my best to drag that bitch out of my head, it was definitely difficult, however I distracted myself with some breakfast. I grabbed a bowl of eggs and fruit and sat down on the ground, leaning my back against the same I had leaned on last night.

"She's awake!"

Everyone turned to the nurse, I had completely forgotten his name, but he did seem nice, even when I've never talked to him before. He had run back into his hut, and with that Alby, Gally, Newt, and of course Thomas all followed quickly, running into the hut to join the two.

I know I wasn't a leader or what not, but I did care and needed to know. Therefore, I put my bowl down, and ran towards the hut. I run in, seeing the girl sitting up in the bed, and everyone surrounding her with questionable looks.

"Y/n, get out."

I turned to Gally, raising an eyebrow with the way he spoke to me, I gave him a disgusted look, not wanting to deal with his bitchy attitude.

"Im staying."

He sighed before turning his attention back on the girl who had a look of fear written across her whole face, she looked like she wanted to run away and never come back.

"Hey, do you remember anything?" Thomas asked softly, taking a knee in front of the girl. I narrowed my eyes, he didn't have to look like he was begging for her answers and attention.

She just shook her head, her eyebrows knitted together in confusion, through her eyes wide with fear. She was a very pretty woman, dark brown hair fell down to her shoulders, caving her hazel eyes.

I adjusted my footing, a bit uncomfortable with how pretty she was, so effortlessly beautiful, and I've always wanted that.

"That's okay, it's normal." Thomas whispered loudly,  staring up at her eyes, trying to figure her out.

I clenched my jaw in annoyance, he really didn't have to take a knee for this random girl, he didn't even know her name.

I noticed her face had softened as she stared back down at him, her body tensed a bit less. It irked me knowing that their stupid eye contact had calmed this bitch down. Minho leaned in, towards me, whispering into my ear, the sound of his voice had dragged me back into reality.

"Calm down, you look like you want to claw their eyes out."

I glanced at Minho, adjusting my position stubbornly, I was not mad or jealous or anything like that. He turned back to the girl once Thomas had finally stood up and not on one knee.

Without thinking, or having a chance to process what I was doing, my feet and mouth had already started moving and it was too late to stop. I took a step towards the girl, sitting on the bed next to her, hoping that I was coming off friendly.

"Hi, my name is Y/n." I forced out a smile, still trying my best to make it look like I didn't actually want to punch her in the face and shove her pretty little face into dirt. The girl tried to inch away from me, clearly seeming afraid of what I might do, was I really that bad?

"Y/n, maybe you should give her a little bit of space..." Thomas muttered, concerned about only what the girl was doing, and not at ALL what I was feeling. Though, I guess he wouldn't really know what I was feeling...

I turned to Thomas, my eyes narrowed, giving him a decent amount of attitude.

"Shes fine, besides you were just kneeling down for her a moment ago. Don't talk to me about space."

I hadn't meant to say that exactly, I definitely was coming across as a bitch, and I didn't want that, but I couldn't hold it in anymore. I felt everyone's eyes burning into me, an awkward silence filled the room as I slowly turned back to the girl uncomfortably.

"Y/n, maybe you should go get some water.." Newt muttered loud enough for everyone to hear, I sighed and just nodded my head in annoyance. I didn't want any of that to happen, I didn't want that, but it was eating me alive, I couldn't keep it out.

I stood up, stepping out of the hut, embarrassed by my behavior, though another part of me was still annoyed with how the two were looking at each other, it drove me nuts, and I didn't know why.

As I was walking away from the hut, heading towards Frypan, hoping to get my mind off that little scene. However, Newt ran up to me, concern filling up in his eyes.

"Are you okay y/n?" He questioned, seeming genuinely worried about me, and I loved that he did care.

"Ya Im fine, I just didn't have a very good sleep, so I think that made me a bit grouchy." I forced out a laugh, hoping that my lie wouldn't be noticed. He was silent for a few moments, causing em tp get shaky and hot out of nerves. I breathed quicker and quicker as his suspicion grew more and more.

"Oh."

I glanced at him nervously, hoping that perhaps I was just being paranoid and thinking that he was suspicious, when really he wasn't suspecting something different. I hesitated, wondering if I should try to convince him that i was in fact just grumpy for my lack of sleep, though I shut my mouth, knowing that I would just come off a bit more suspicious.

"Well, get better y/n." He called as he started to turn away, heading back towards the hut. I mumbled a goodbye under my breath, embarrassed by my choice of actions and words this morning, and it wasn't even the afternoon.

It was the evening now, and for the whole day I really kept to myself, trying to convince myself that what I said to Thomas wasn't as bad as it seemed. I haven't convinced myself yet.

I was just walking around in the glade, it was pretty dark now, the stars were shining brightly tonight, along with the moon as well. I wondered if we were ever going to get out of this place, he seemed so... real outside of the maze, even if I haven't seen the outside.

I stop in my tracks, glancing up at the glowing sky before I lay down on the grass, looking up at the stars. Not even moments had passed and someone had laid down next to me. I felt myself tensing a bit once I realized who it was that laid down next to me.

I glanced at Thomas awkwardly, seeing him just looking up at the sky with me. I turned to look back at the sky, wondering what he was going to say, or what I should say. I wanted to apologize, but I wasn't sure if he even wanted to hear my apology.

"What was that this morning?" He muttered, still looking up at the stars, his arms were down to his sides and his legs were outstretched.

I turned to look at him, my full attention on him and only him at that moment.

"Im sorry Thomas, I was just tired and I dont really--

"You don't like Teresa?"

I paused, staring at him, he finally turned his head to meet my gaze intently. I found myself falling into his warm chocolate eyes, wanting to melt in them.

"She knows her name now?" I whispered, trying my best not to have a shake in my voice. I didn't like that he was getting closer with Teresa within a day.

"Yeah, she remembered this afternoon." He muttered a sigh, glancing at the sky, then back at me from time to time.

"Hm, well that's good." I muttered, breathing out a shaky sigh as I turned back to look at the sky. My arms were above my head so I could stretch my aching body a bit, though I found it wasn't even working.

"Im sorry Thomas... for saying that this morning." I whispered, not looking back at him. He didn't say anything though, we just laid there for a good minute before I sighed and I dropped my arms down to my sides.

Moments had passed by continuously, and I wasn't sure what else I could say to make this situation any better.

Abruptly I felt a slight brush against my fingers. I took a deep breath, realizing that it was Thomas's hand brushing against my hand. My breathing started to speed up, I was itching for breath, as I felt his hand a bit closer now.

Though I liked it though.

I really liked it, I loved the excitement I was feeling, but was scared and nervous all in one emotion. I gently moved my hand a bit closer to his, as he continued to faintly graze my hand, though he was getting a bit closer now.

My chest was rising and falling nervously, I continued to look up at the sky nervously, I realized he was looking at me the whole time, seeing how much I would react. I glanced at him, catching his eye for a split second but I quickly looked away.

However I continued to move my hand a bit closer, to the point he started to wrap his hand around mine, our fingers intertwined together. But suddenly, Teresa had popped into my head randomly, and I hated that, I pictured the two together and I hated that so much.

I tensed up again, and I sat up, breaking our hands away swiftly. I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself down from what had just happened.

"Thomas... I can't keep picturing you and T---

I stopped, I closed my mouth, he sat up quickly, confusion pierced on his face.

"I can't do this." I muttered, getting up and walking away from him. I felt guilty for leaving him while being a little vague, I just couldn't do that right now. I had to get Teresa and Thomas together out of my head.

I know that they aren't together, but there was a connection with the two of them, and there's proof being that all the words she could've said when she had woken up, she chose to say the word Thomas.

Hopefully this chapter was a bit better for you guys
