Chapter 136 Nathan Cross returned home at noon.
His family was having lunch when he came through the door.
The moment Queenie Smith saw him, she threw herself into his embrace. âPapa! Papa!â
Nathan Cross picked up his daughter and grinned at her. âDid you miss me?â
Queenie Smith nodded. âI did and so was Mama.â
Penny Smith was walking towards them with a smile on her face, but her expression froze when she heard her daughterâs words.
Nathan Crossâ lips curved upwards. âOh? How do you know that?â
âMama called Papaâs name a few times in her sleep,â Queenie Smith said innocently.
Penny Smith flushed immediately. âNonsense! Now go and finish your food, or I wonât let you watch TV later.â
Queenie Smith pouted upon hearing that.
...
Nightfall in Channing City.
The wind howled at the top floor of the Orientry Building.
Harvey Babcock, the owner of the antique auctioning company Treasure Vault, was brought to the top of the building with his hands restrained by a group of fierce-looking men.
âWho the hell are you? Do you even know who I am? Everyone who knows me calls me the T-Rex! Iâm a follower of the Zabinski family too! You have no right to do this!â he screamed as he stumbled along.
âOh, hello T-Rex! Long time no see!â
A loud and crisp voice boomed.
T-Rex looked in the direction of the voice in shock, before realizing that there were some other people waiting for him on the top floor.
The person who spoke was a man standing by the railing and looking at the glittering skyline of Channing.
T-Rex stared at the manâs back while struggling to compose himself. âAnd you are?â
The man turned around all of a sudden. Square face, deep-set eyes, high cheekbones, thin lips...he gave off a rather intimidating aura.
âArenât you Jon Xander? The lord of the Arcvale underground, the tyrant of the South?â T-Rex yelled.
Jon Xander smiled. âIt looks like you know who I am.â
T-Rex gave him a crooked grin. âWeâre both followers of the Zabinski family, yet youâre doing much better than me as the spokesperson of the Zabinski family in Arcvale. Why wouldnât I know who you are.â
âMan, I thought I was being kidnapped! I didnât expect to meet you here, Mr. Xander.â
âActually, you donât have to trouble yourself. Just give me a call if you need anything. Iâll be at your side in a flash.â
Jon Xander remained stoic. âThe Old Master had ordered me to come here and take revenge for the Young Master. Did you betray the Young Master, T-Rex?â
Fear flashed across T-Rexâs eyes. He had indeed been the one who led Nathan Cross and Thomas Dunn to Jerry Zabinski.
He forced himself to remain calm as he replied, âNo, of course not. I have always been loyal to the Young Master.â
Jon Xander smirked. âAre you sure?â
Before T-Rex could answer, Jon Xander thrusted a dagger straight into his abdomen.
T-Rex did not see that coming. He rasped with a pained expression on his face, âYou!â
Jon Xander simply twisted the dagger around in T-Rexâs abdomen and snarled, âI know you wonât admit to it, but itâs fine. My presence here means that thereâs enough evidence to confirm our suspicions. The Young Master had told me to pay you a visit on behalf of him.â
T-Rexâs whole face was twisted with pain. âI-I didnât betray the Young Master! I...â
âThe Young Master doesnât think so!â Jon Xander said, before plunging the knife into T-Rexâs heart.
T-Rex held on tight to Jon Xanderâs clothes. âI...I didnât...â
âI donât think so too!â Jon Xander yelled, stabbing him yet another time.
He pushed T-Rexâs corpse onto the ground and handed his knife over to his assistant. Taking the handkerchief his assistant gave him and wiping his hands clean of blood, he asked, âWhoâs the next target?â
âSamuel Smith. Heâs the one who orchestrated this whole plot against the Young Master for Nathan Cross and Thomas Dunn.â
Jon Xander nodded. âVery good.â
