Today is the day.
The big day.
The long awaited, dreadful day.
Ok, so "dreadful" might be a tad dramatic, but you get my point.
Today is Friday.
Today marks Stephen's first weekend alone with Bryan.
A whole weekend. Two whole nights.
"Bry, honey, I really don't think you need to take all of these toys over to your dads place. He's told you already that he bought you some new ones." I tell my cherub faced angel, trying (unsuccessfully) to convince him to leave the toys behind.
He gives me a look. The look that I know is his "say one more word about this, and I'll drop to the floor" look. The one he saves for special occasions.
"Fine. Fine." I concede. "But you're packing them, and carrying them to the car since you want to be hardheaded."
He shrugs as if it's not a big deal and continues to pull toys out of his toy box.
"So," Kyle says from his perch in the doorway, "first weekend alone in almost five years, huh? Got any plans?" He asks me. The same question I've gotten from all of my friends recently.
"I have not a single clue what to do with myself this weekend. Nada. You," I say, sending him a playful glare, "knocked up my best friend, and everyone else already has kids. I don't know anyone who's single and kid less. We're all," I shudder, "adults".
He comes into the room and plops down beside me. "Well, I just so happen to know of a little something going on this weekend that might be of interest to you. Granted you have no one to go with you, however, I still think you'll have a great time."
I turn to him. "So what is it?" I ask him, mildly intrigued.
He breaks out a full on grin. "I got you tickets to that nerd fest you're always whining about not being at. The one where they have tables for Harry Potter and The 100." He tells me, awaiting my reaction.
Naturally, I don't disappoint.
"YOU GOT ME A TICKET TO COMIC-CON!?!" I screech, reaching for him.
He pulls away and reaches for his wallet in his back pocket. He opens it up and pulls out the crispy piece of paper confirming his words. "Yup. And I also got you a meet and greet pass for the cast of The 100." He says, bracing for impact.
I all but tackle him, repeatedly thanking him for his gift. "Oh my God, I can't believe you did this. I'm so excited, literally don't even know what to do with myself."
He gently removes me. "You deserve to have some fun. And not "I'm hanging out with my son" fun, but "my son's not around and I can do what I want" fun." He tells me.
I thank him again, before running into the house to try to plan my Con outfit.
Unsurprisingly, I'm stopped halfway up the stairs by the sound of the doorbell.
He's here.
And he's early.
Before I can think anymore on it, Bryan comes flying down the stairs, almost knocking me over in the process, and runs toward the door.
He reaches to open the door, before turning to glance at me, and thinking better of it.
"Who is it?" He asks instead.
Proud mom moment.
"It's meeee." Stephen sings from the other side of the door.
Bryan flings open the door and rushes into his arms, gushing excitedly about their impending sleepover.
He's talking a mile a minute and Stephen is eating it all up as usual.
Finally coming all the way inside, he glances my way for the first time. He sets Bry down and come towards me, quickly embracing me in a hug.
"You're not gonna freak out about this are you?", he asks referring to their impending departure
I take a deep breath. "Nope. I'm fine. Totally fine. Completely okay." I say as convincingly as possible.
Both he and Bry give me matching looks of disbelief, obviously sensing the lack of truth behind my words.
Before Stephen feels the needs to give me a long, reassuring pep talk, I usher the both of them to the door.
"We're just going to have to do this cold turkey. Is this strange, new, and uncharted territory? Yes. However, I will be fine. I promise. I'm not going to fall to pieces over a sleepover." I tell them. "Really. Go on and have fun."
Stephen pulls me in for another hug, kissing me on the cheek quickly, before he grabs Bryan's hand and walks him out the door and to his car.
And with one last look and wave, they're off.
And I'm flying up the stairs.
Prior to receiving those tickets, I'd probably be half way to "MopeTown" right about now.
But there's no time to mope.
Not when you've got to decide on whether to go to Comic Con as Professor Trelawney or Wanheda.
Decisions, decisions.

Wanheda won out. Obviously.
And if you don't know who that is, not only do I feel sorry for you, but shame on you as well.
The costume was easy enough. Think the matrix, but in the wilderness. A little bit of pink hair chalk, and some serious warrior princess makeup.
Savannah takes a million solo pictures of me before my "date" arrives.
Well not really "date". More like "the person I've chosen to accompany me to this cherished once in a lifetime event.
Fernando rings the doorbell 5 minutes later.
If you can't guess who he's dressed as, I won't blame you.
Hell, I didn't even know until he explained it.
He walks in the door, both halves of his body covered in different costumes. The right side is obviously Harry Potter. The robe and and the half of a gryffindor tie give it away.
It takes me a little while longer to guess the second half, but when I do I'm floored.
"Is the left side of you supposed to be Bellamy Blake?" I ask him, referring to one of my favorite characters from 'The 100'.
He grins in response.
"OH MY GOD. You actually binged it? Already? This is perfect. I was worried that, on such short notice, we'd end up going as two characters from different dimensions. OMG, I can't believe you watched it." I tell him. This weekend that I was so worried about, is shaping up to be pretty good.
"It's a great show." He tells me. "I could pick between the two, so it only made sense to do both."
Savannah takes a few more pic of both of us, and then we're off to one of the most incredible events on earth.
And one of the best weekends of my life.
How long has it been since I updated?
Serious question.
Fortunately for you, you won't have to deal with my sporadic updates for much longer, as the story will be coming to a close within the next few (5-8) chapters, if not sooner.
After that, I'll probably go through each chapter and edit them a bit, as the story was originally started in 2016 I believe.
So, yeah. That's all for me. How bout you guys, how ya been?
10 votes for next chapter.
