The imperfection we called our love | ✔1,270 words~7 min read

Later that day we climbed into his rover, when the sun had just begun setting. After spending a whole day holed up in Finn's room, smoking cheap cigarettes, getting high and almost drunk

We tore out of the driveway like drunken folk, the windows rolled all the way down, while the wind billowed in my hair, whipping my hair all around my face, so harsh, that some got in my mouth and burned my eyes. Finn's smoke also making the car very stuffy

We pulled up at the local conventional store. Finn went straight to the counter and asked for some brand of cigarettes, and a few lighters, because one clearly wasn't enough for him

He slapped a few notes on the table, and we were out of there in four

After that pretty much drove for what seemed like ages, and when the sun disappeared from the sky, we found a park bench to loiter till night arrived.

Finn hopped on the hood of the jeep, lying back against the windshield, crossing his ankles, gesturing for me to do the same thing

I shook my head firmly

He was crazy

Finn ignored me and pulled me by my wrist on to the hood and lifted me up to sit next to him, I was laughing too hard to protest

''Stop'' I said shrieking in delight

When he finally let go of me, I collapsed into his lap, I didn't move, instead I rested my head on his knee as the bright moon beat down on us

The night was beautiful, cool and flawless

''What's your last name Em'' Finn suddenly asked, his voice barely audible to my ears

I turned to look at him, forehead creasing as the frown took over my eyebrows and eyes

It was a weird thing for him to want to know

But it was just a name

''Harrison'' I said shrugging into his knee

He nodded

''And your middle name?'' He asked. Clearly asking questions was a hobby of his

I was too serene and at peace, to be annoyed, so I just answered his question

''Rose''

He stayed silent, and I prayed he wasn't thinking of a new question to ask me

''Emily Rose Harrison'' Finn said my whole name, as if testing it on his tongue, his tone a bit louder than our previous hushed tones

Because of the switch of volume, I had gotten a slight fright

''Jesus, - '' I blurted ''say it louder the world didn't hear you'' I asserted smiling

''EMILY ROSE HARRISON!'' Finn roared on-top of his lungs

I got such a fright, I jumped and covered his mouth, laughing

The people in the main road now looked into the parking lot of the local park staring at us if we were something alien

''I hadn't realized that my hand was still covering his mouth, whilst I still laughed, torso against the insides of his legs

He licked the palm of my hand and bit down on it tugging on the tender skin gently with his teeth, I felt the tingle all the way down to my toes.

''You crazy'' I said to him, pulling my hand free

He simply winked at me.

I slid down the car's hood and pooled in the driver's seat of the car

I checked my phone which had been charging, then looked up at Finn's back, then had a bright idea loud

I honked

Finn's body jerked in response and I couldn't help but laugh

he flicked me his middle finger, then slid down from the hood slowly, and came around to where I was, resting his head against the door frame, looking down on me, before turning around to blow out smoke and crush the cigarette under his boots heel

I didn't like it, the way he was looking at me, scrutinizing me

I climbed over to the passenger's seat, and sat down, crossing my legs

He climbed in the rover and shut the door

And just like that we were on the road again

Whizzing past everything like we were unstoppable

I put my head further out of the window

''Careful there Harrison''

I heard Finn shout after me

I smiled

My parents had never let me do this

With good reason maybe, because Finn was seemingly trying to make me come back inside

I ignored him, and got further out the window, gripping my hands onto the bar above the rover, the bar usually used to tie things to,, working alongside its partner, the other bar on the other side of the rover

I sat on the door, in the space where the window was supposed to be

''Harrison you fuckin nuts'' Finn yelled

I laughed and let my hair back, arching my neck to the sky

Despite feeling weightless and free, I could also feel Finn's tension, stress and worry radiated off him in waves

So for Finn's sake, I slid back into the car all flustered, and hair messed up

I smiled at him

He smirked and flicked his cigarette out the window

I prayed where ever that cigarette went it didn't burn anything; kill anyone or anything, because I had not seen him kill the cigarette before hand

In one moment Finn changed the gear

In the next he slid his hand on my thigh

If I got a nickel for every time Finn did this, I'd be a millionaire

I stopped his hand, before they travelled anywhere in particular, then faced him

''Don't get any ideas'' I stated firmly then released his hand

A smile played at his mouth

The nerve of this shithead

I heard the place a road away before we actually arrived there.

We were at what looked like a night club

It didn't take a rocket scientist to piece together that Finn was going in there

Finn got out the car, before I could tell him I was underage

Way underage

I got and came around the car as fast as I could, and grabbed his arm just before he reached the bouncer

''I'm underage'' I whispered in his ear

He looked at me, for a moment his gaze went far off, like he was remembering something, then nodded

The bouncer was talking to a few girls, and we slipped in behind him no trouble

That was pure luck, if things had gone sour I could've ended up in prison

I tried to calm my rapid heartbeats, that was the most stressful thing I had ever done

The moment we stepped in, the club was pulsating with life, flashing lights, crowded spaces and a deejay high up on what looked like an indoor balcony, making wild hand and arm movements

I stood there amazed; I'd never been in a night club before.

I looked to my left and Finn was gone from my side

The normal thing would have been to panic, - I think, but I was too mesmerized.

I walked further in, my feet drawing my steps for me without me being fully aware

The club was full people dancing; sweating bodies and heartbeats beat with the tempo of the music

A hand touched my shoulder

I spun around, and there was Finn all tall and lanky, the different color lights flicking on his face, he pulled me to him, and gestured for me to open my mouth

I did, a bit hesitant of course

But all he did was set a disc on my tongue

He kissed me again for the last time that night, before we melted into the crowd and became part of the music
