It was Friday morning when Finn texted me, asking me when he should fetch me for Gresco
I had completely forgot
I tried getting out of it, by telling him I was by my friend. - Meaning: I had plans, and he should go find someone else to pester
But instead he said he'd only come fetch me there, which was how I found myself saying bye to Amanda a week after staying there, and going back home early Friday morning.
The house was in the exact same condition as I had left it, which meant still no one was home.

Amanda told me to call her when I got home, I hadn't, as I forgot to, due to being on the phone with Finn for nearly an hour; giving directions
I instructed him when arriving not to hoot, to just text me
He thought this was amusing, and thought I was sneaking out
Of course I denied this
But he didn't buy it.

I smoked two pipes In Finn's car, when he said ''slow down tiger''
''What do you care?'' I shot back
I was being a dick, but I hadn't really wanted to come in the first place, and I was in a foul mood
I was usually better at hiding my emotions, maybe Finn was just so annoying that I didn't really care if he thought I was angry, sad or anything.
We pulled up into a huge parking lot, where the streets were littered with so much people; I thought I might be in China.
Loud techno music blared from; I have no idea where. We didn't get out of the car; Finn just slowly drove past everyone, like a hunter examining its prey
''yo, my man what up?'' someone yelled at Finn over the music.
I leaned forward to see where the voice came from
It was a tall Rastafarian kid with a mass of dreads reaching his waist,
Finn lifted his head in acknowledgement.
Finn was popular around here, like he was everywhere else
We circled around a few times before Finn pulled up in a spot, where a few kids from our school were standing at
Finn got out, and a lot of kids came up to him, I exited from the other side, when I really noticed the car for the first time.
I mean, I obviously noticed it when he picked me up, but I really looked at it only know.
It looked like some sort of muscle car, A mustang; all sleek black, with neon green outlines and white stripes, down the front of the car
For a second, I wondered where he got the car, but I didn't care enough to lose my shit over it
When stepping out, a lot of girl's gazes landed on me
I heard mutters
''Who the fuck is that'' one girl pointed a sharp accusing acrylic- nail -finger in my direction, not trying to hide her dislike for me
''Some nobody, Tia'' the other girl said.
Because the music blared so loud both girls had to shout over the music, not really knowing how loud their shouting actually was
I bit back the all too familiar feeling, and shuffled my feet on the street instead, shoving my hands in my jeans pockets.
No, it didn't help that I looked like no one else in my jeans and oversized Nirvana Black faded tee, and a grey hoodie over a checkered flannel
What was I doing here?
I walked further on, ignoring the glances I got, - it's like wherever I went with Finn I got these looks
I pulled out a joint and lit it, walking towards a car with a few kids that weren't looking at me,
''Nice ride'' I said walking closer to a kid working on his car, mimicking an impressed expression
''He laughed, because he too, saw the car and driver I came with
''Nothing like your boyfriends ride''
This was my turn to laugh
I looked at him for the first time, - he had jet black hair and eyebrows to match, his hand hanging on the side of his car, occasionally tapping the outer shell of the car
He wiped his hands on the front of his jeans, coming closer to me
''nah, we not together'' I said matter-of-factly
I offered him a smoke
He took it and inhaled so deep I thought he might swallow it, then explode like those bombs on the cartoon shows
''Emily'' I offered, taking the joint back from his outstretched hand
''Seb''
I smiled, ''short for Sebastian?''
He nodded
A hand on my waist, surprised me, I didn't have to turn around to know who it was. He smelt of soap and tobacco.
I moved his hand off of me
Sebastian smirked
Finn didn't even glance Sebastian's way, - which I thought was rude. He could've just said; hey
''Were starting '' Finn informed me
I frowned at him, because I didn't know how this information benefited me
But I said nothing
''Bye Emily'' Sebastian said
I smiled, waving back to him
''Good luck,'' I called behind my back
Finn scoffed
If I didn't know better I would've said, Finn was acting like an over-protective boyfriend
I shot him a look. He was so arrogant and full of it.
We reached his car, and he opened the passenger side
I was taken back. Did he want me to drive? I couldn't drive.
I was about to voice my thoughts when I realised what he was doing.
He was holding the door for me
Weird
I got in; Finn shut the door and slipped in on the other side
''You ever done this before?'' he asked once seated
''Never'' I said more to myself than to him.
I suspected he knew this already.
Finn put his gear into first, and we shredded out of the parking lot.
I knew he was showing off.
We heard delighted squeals from girls in the distance now.
I put my seatbelt on
''How does this work?'' I asked, referring to the race, and everything else taking place around us
He answered without looking at me
''This is the first race of the night, it starts like this every fourth week, - 'the start-off race', it always makes the most money. - The amount of racers varies from five to twenty. For example: Ten racers equal 10,000 bucks. - ''
10 thousand dollars
-''Everyone pitches in; equally, if you don't pitch in the same you're not allowed to race. Winner takes all, looser goes home 1000 bucks short
''How much racers tonight? ''
''Fourteen''
''And how much did everyone give?''
''1500''
I said nothing about the fact that Finn gave 1000 and 500 freaking dollars for this shit-show.
Nearing the starting point, we pulled up next to some red sports car
I began unbuckling to get out of the car
''Where you going?'' Finn asked hastily, - he almost sounded concerned
''The race is starting'' I said dubiously, hoping this answered his question
Finn gestured for me to stay seated
I did
Was I going to sit passenger while he drove?
''Isn't it a bad idea to drive with a passenger?''
Finn shook his head
''Who told you that?''
I shrugged
''Unless you're too chicken, - and that's the real reason''
I laughed
I know he was baiting me
''But I need you, you're my good luck'' he said mock-pleadingly, - his hand resting on my knee
I smirked
He probably used that line on a lot of girls
''Do people actually believe the trash that comes out of your mouth''?
He pretended to look wounded
''There is no one else, just you'' he answered breezily, - like this had come a million times out of his mouth
I turned to him, he was ridiculous
Finn leant over so fast, his lips pecked mine
There wasn't a moment for me to push him away, because it happened so fast
I huffed out an annoyed breath in protest
He chuckled.
We were the last in the seven row line up of two cars in the narrow street.
The race was about to begin, I buckled myself in
No way was I about to go like this
while I was at it I reached over for Finn's safety belt, and buckled it for him too, his eyes met mine, amused
The music died down around us, there was a moment of utter silence, before voices filled the eerie silence; Chanting, laughing, betting, - the works.
The other thirteen cars began revving, as if it were a competition; the loudest car was the supposed winner.
There was no girl in front with an impossibly short dress, waving a red piece of flag, like they did in the movies.
Instead, there was just a horn that went off, signalling the race had begun
Tires squealed, cars roared with life, and people cheered
We drove so fast, the force of speed knocked me back against my seat
Finn shifted gears
Whizzing so fast I saw nothing outside, all I felt was my heart hammering and the feeling of the air being knocked out of my chest
