I was warm and comfortable. Even though I was lying in what had to be the weirdest position ever. My front legs felt way to bendable as they were curled around the small heater in front of me and my back legs felt like they were going straight down to where my tail normally sits.
I sat there pondering the weird feeling and wondering why the space beneath my head was so soft. It was like I was using one of the human pillows.
The moment I thought of humans my mind suddenly decided to remember everything that had happened last night all at once. The shifting, Grace and Detsy being my mates and being marked.
My eyes shot open to find my arms wrapped around Detsy's sleeping frame. Another set of arms around my middle told me that Grace was just as snuggled into me as I was with Detsy.
I looked over at the clock and groaned, which stirred both of my mates into wakefulness. It was already 10 am in the morning and we'd missed breakfast.
"Good morning you two." Grace greeted us both with a yawn and a stretch while Detsy's eyes were still half closed. The poor girl gave up her attempt to wake up and slumped back down into bed comfortably.
"Come on sleepy head, it's time to get up and the three of us have stuff we need to do for the lunar festival." Grace told Detsy as she got up and went into the bathroom.
The sound of a shower running finally convinced Detsy to get up and follow her mate into the running water, but not before she dragged me along with her.
As we entered the bathroom Detsy looked at me with more wakefulness then she'd displayed since last night before her eyes moved down to look at the mark I'd received from both of them last night.
Her eyes widened as she observed the mate mark. "Oh my god Eva, you need to look at your mark."
Her voice was serious and worried me enough to turn around to the mirror and inspect my neck without asking any more questions.
There on my neck was the traditional crescent moon mark that signified I was claimed by my mate. However my mark also had white, silver and chocolate colored wolves playing together on and around the moon.
"It's beautiful." Grace whispered as she stepped out of the shower and over to me to examine her handiwork. "The best part about it is that it means you're ours." Grace had a giant grin on her face.
"If she doesn't stop rubbing that in them I'm going to take over and mark her right here and now." Aurora grumbled in the back of my brain.
"Relax Aurora." I replied to my wolf. "We have the rest of our lives to mark out mates. There's no rush."
"That didn't stop then from marking you immediately." Aurora shot back.
"True, although I did give them permission to. There is no harm in waiting until they're ready as well." I tried to argue, however Aurora decided that she was going to start ignoring me and didn't reply to anything I said after that point.
"Is Aurora giving you trouble?" Detsy asked while still examining the three wolves playing around the moon on my neck.
"Yes she is." I admitted to them. "She's not talking to me now because she desperately wants to mark both of you and I told her to be patient."
Grace laughed out loud at me. "You do realize that telling your wolf to be patient when it comes to their mates and marking them is like telling a hungry dragon not to eat the paddock full of sheep. Short of killing the beast nothing will stop it."
"So what am I mean to do about it then?" I asked as Grace was still giggling at my expense.
"You just have to mark us." Detsy said as she grabbed my hand and lead me under the warm water flowing out of the shower head.
I'd never had a shower before, but I can safely say that the warm water running over my hairless human skin is the best thing I've ever experienced. Add into that my two mates enjoying it with me and I'm experiencing pure bliss.
After showing me how to wash my female body properly Detsy leaned up against the shower wall and moved her wet hair away from the crescent moon mark on her neck and shoulder.
"What are you waiting for?" Detsy said while looking at me directly in my eyes. "Mark me."
This caused Aurora to howl happily and prance around in my head. I don't think my wolf could get any more excited at this point.
Grace positioned herself just to the side of Detsy as I snuggled my face into her neck and breathed in her sweet scent.
Just like my mates did last night, I pulled my head back and felt my canine teeth grow out before plunging them directly into the mark on Detsy's neck.
Detsy actually moaned in pleasure before Grace pushed her lips onto Detsy's in a passionate display.
I tasted the metallic flavor of Detsy's blood and before long I pulled my teeth out of her shoulder and used my tongue to help put pressure on the wound.
By the time I pulled back the wound was completely gone and the three colored wolves were playing around the moon together on her skin as well.
After Detsy had recovered it was Grace's turn. So I repeated the process again for the last time and soon all three of us were sporting the unique mate mark that told the world that we belong to each other.
"Mine." Aurora and I declare both in my head and out loud to my two mates as they slump against the shower wall.
Both Detsy and Grace slumped a bit against the shower wall as a wave of exhaustion that occurs after being marked hit them.
"Are you two alright?" I asked as I positioned myself to help them stay upright.
"We'll be fine." Grace replied through half closed eyelids. "Just give us a few minutes to recover then we can all get something to eat."
My stomach agreed with Grace by rumbling loudly. We all had a chuckle at the antics.
A few minutes later my mates were recovered enough to be able to walk out of the shower without assistance and dry themselves off. A process I was unfamiliar with as I'd never watched them shower before for obvious reasons.
Detsy and Grace walked me through the best ways to use a towel and much to my amazement, by the time I was finished with it I was completely dry. Well except my hair which was still damp. I can see why humans like getting wet so much if they can be dry again in a few minutes.
After that Detsy helped me to get dressed. Which was fine except the first thing she bought out were undergarments that she called underwear. She had to chase me around the room to get me to wear the weird clothes and only caught me as I tripped over my own feet and fell on my face. Damn this not being able to walk properly yet.
After I was dressed and far less comfortable than I was yesterday thanks to the presence of the underwear the three of us headed to the elevator so we could raid the kitchen for food. Even though breakfast had well and truly finished and lunch was another hour and a half off.
"Ok then." Grace said while stopping us in the foyer and making sure that we were out of hearing range of the kitchens. "You're going to help us with operation swipe Eva."
"I am?" I asked confused. "Just what is operation swipe Grace?"
"It's very simple." Grace said while grinning. "You and I will distract the kitchen staff while Detsy sneaks in and swipes us some food."
"I love this game." Detsy declared while jumping up and down on the spot.
"Won't that annoy the chefs?" I ask the two adults that were acting like children in front of me.
"Yes, so that's why we won't get caught." Grace informed me as she grabbed me by my arm and dragged me along as she made a beeline for the kitchen.
"Olivia, how are you this fine day?" Grace greeted the chef in a loud and over the top manner. At least she succeeded in getting all the chefs attention, even if it made me embarrassed to be seen with her.
"I'm good thanks." Olivia said slowly and carefully, trying to figure out what Grace was doing. "Who's your friend? I haven't seen her around before."
"Ah Olivia, please meet my mate Eva." Grace said with a massive smile on her face. While Grace held the attention of all the chefs I could see Detsy clearly enter the kitchen and swipe an entire tray of freshly baked cupcakes and what appeared to be a stack of chicken in gravy before swiftly exiting the room without being caught.
"Wait, as in Eva the wolf?" Olivia asked surprised.
"The only and only." I replied to the kind woman who fed us. "Apparently I'm a werewolf and just didn't know it. It was a bit of a shock when I started to shift I'll admit."
"I bet it was." Olivia replied. The poor woman looked a bit stunned so Grace took the opportunity to exit the kitchen.
"The Alpha has just asked us to come to his study." Grace lied smoothly to the room full of chefs. "I'll see you all at lunch."
Grace grabbed my hand and led me back out the main doors and into the foyer where Detsy was seated and protecting her stolen treasures.
"That was awesome you two." Detsy greeted us while dividing us the goodies three ways and we all got to filling out stomachs. Needless to say it didn't take long for all evidence of our transgression to be consumed.
"I feel much better." Grace said as she leaned back and patted her belly.
Grace let out a rather loud and unladylike burp before raising her eyebrows at us. "What?" She questioned. "It wasn't me." This earned her a smack on the arm from Detsy.
"Maybe we could go somewhere a little more private." I told my mates. "Everyone is giving me weird looks as they go by."
"Of course they are." Detsy said. "Not only are you a stunningly attractive werewolf who's now in her human form, but you're also mated to us which means that when Grace's parents recognize it in a couple of days you will have the title of princess as well."
"I actually have no idea what that truly means for me." I admitted quietly to both of them.
"You've got your entire life to figure it out. Detsy and I will be here for you every step of the way." Grace told me supportively. Admittedly, it did help settle my nerves.
"Eva, if you're awake can you please come to my office." Alpha Leyton's voice sounded in my head through mind link.
"I'm on my way." I replied to him immediately.
"The Alpha want to speak to me." I informed Grace and Detsy as I got up. What I wasn't expecting was for both of them to get up with me.
"What are you doing?" I asked them in confusion. The Alpha had only asked to see me after all.
"Coming with you." Grace replied. "The good thing about being a princess is that we outrank an Alpha and can do things like go to meetings we're not invited to. I know I'll be damned if you think I'm going to let you out of my sight Eva."
I smile at my mates as my heart warmed to them even more than it already had.
So with that stupid smile on my face I headed to the second floor and Alpha Leyton's study.
The first thing I realized upon reaching the doors is that it is much easier to knock using a human hand. Actually it's almost effortless.
"Come in." I heard from inside and open the door.
Alpha Leyton was at his desk and Luna May sat right beside him. Thomas was sitting across from the Alpha in one of the seats used for meetings.
"Welcome you three." Alpha Leyton said without missing a beat as he looks up and realized that Grace and Detsy have followed me. All three of us take a seat next to Thomas.
"How can I be of service?" I asked as Detsy chuckled and I shot her a look stating that I didn't appreciate the laugh.
"Sorry." Detsy said softly to me. "You just sound so formal, it's really funny."
Alpha Leyton sighed. "I'm glad that the three of you are happy you found each other. But the topic of conversation today is a serious one, so please try not to interrupt if you can help it." Alpha Leyton said in a deadly serious tone that made Detsy shut up immediately.
"Do you remember a Luna Kate?" Alpha Leyton asked me.
"Yes I do, she was the Luna of the Shallow Rivers pack until Alpha Pierce was defeated by Alpha Tim in a battle for the Alpha title." I replied.
"Well she's known as Luna Kate again and is currently the closest thing the females of your old pack that were left behind have to an Alpha." Alpha Leyton looked at me briefly before continuing. "Basically all the females present in the Shallow Rivers pack lands are pregnant with no one around to supply them with food or even water as the pregnancy's continue to develop."
"It really does seem like it's the intention of this Alpha Tim to have them give birth, take the pups then leave the females behind to die." By this point the anger in Alpha Leyton's face was clearly evident. If he could locate Alpha Tim I had no doubt that he would go and rip his throat out.
"We've given the females an offer to come and live on our pack's land where we can provide for them and offer them safety. However the problem lies in the fact that Luna Kate doesn't trust anyone after what happened to her and her pack, so she turned down our offer and makes sure that we can't get close to her pack mates." Alpha Leyton turned to me. "I was hoping that you could go to them as someone they know and trust to convince them to take shelter in our pack Eva. I can't stand the thought of so many females and pups being treated like that. We can care for them here and we won't force them to stay."
"Just to be clear, you want me to convince my old pack to come here to the Roaring Hills pack?" I asked the Alpha.
Alpha Leyton nodded. "That's correct. I'd preferably also like them to be here and sheltered before the Lunar festival starts. Which shouldn't be a problem as it's only a two day walk from the pack den to our pack house."
"Ok, you can count on me sir." I said to Alpha Leyton before turning to my mates.
"I'm sorry but you have to stay for the Lunar festival preparation and to greet your parents. I have to go though, it's my old pack and I don't want them to die of starvation or anything else if I can help it." My voice was full of raw emotion as I looked at Detsy and Grace.
"It's ok Eva." Detsy replied. "We completely understand. We would both feel the same way if it was the pack that we'd grown up in that was in trouble. Just promise me that you'll be back here as soon as possible."
"I promise." I said to Detsy and Grace as I stood up from the chair and gave them both a massive hug.
Once I'd finished Alpha Leyton address me. "I, Alpha Leyton, hereby give you Eva, full authority to invite the wolves that you find onto the pack lands and invite them to the pack house."
I shuddered a little bit. That was a massive show of trust and a huge responsibility. However it also showed how much Alpha Leyton had come to trust me in the time I've been here.
"You'll be traveling with Thomas and his mate Daniel." Alpha Leyton said. "Would you have any problems with setting out immediately?"
"None at all." I replied eager to see my old pack mates again.
"Good." Thomas spoke for the first time since we'd entered the study. "Daniel is already outside and ready to go. If you're ready then we can go down and start out for the Shallow Rivers pack lands right now."
"Lead the way." I told Thomas as I interlock my fingers with Detsy and Grace. I followed him to the ground level like that, ready to face a six hour run in wolf form.
"Thank god for all my training since I got here." I thought to myself. "Otherwise six hours of straight running might have just killed me."
