"We have a what?" I said breathing heavily as I was jogging, talking to Khaled with an earphone.

'A dinner with Amir's family.'

"When?" I came to a stop beside a bench where I left my water bottle. I took the bottle and chucked the water down.

'Friday.' He said.

"Tomorrow then." I sighed. "I wonder what kind of surprise they have for us. Last time our family got together I got married, It happened to be on Friday too."

'Yup, I only hope it's not my wedding this time.' He whined.

I laughed "I wonder who they'll pair you up. It certainly can't be worst than mine."

'Amir is decent guy, give him some time.' Khaled said but I his voice was being interrupted by paper noises.

"Yeah, what are you doing?" I started to walk out the park to home.

'I'm having a problem with an essay I've got. It has be done fast, tomorrow is it's due time.' Shit I don't remember when the group project with Lucas will be done. I've noted to ask him later to myself.

"Good luck with that and bye I need to go and take a shower."

'Allright bye.' He send me a kiss before he hang up.

Wow things are getting crazy.

It's been 3 days since I had a date with Amir. The day after decided my coach that I'll be the one representing our school for the track team like I wanted. After that I've committed myself to run 2 hours in the morning and 2 hour at the evening which was a good idea for I feel faster and better.

Only 4 days until the tournament and everyone in school is on fire. The tournament is huge after all.

I strolled through the park feeling exhausted. I can't wait to drop like a stick when I get home.

The park was empty or so I thought when I saw a figure playing basketball in a small basketball court.

Ando?

I made my way to him and entered the court.

"Hello." I said and he halted grabbing his ball.

"Hi!" He beamed "Amir's girl?"

"Layla."

"So Layla what are you doing here?" He asked his accent was thick with British accent. I haven't paid attention to his appearance the other day but he looks quite handsome. With his dark hair and eyes he can kill girls easy.

Under his uniform you can clearly see the hard work on his body. Not that I'm checking him out. No I wasn't.

"I was jogging. I see your training too. For the tournament?" I pointed at his baskeball that he had under his arm.

"Yeah, are you going to participate too?"

I nodded "Track."

He hummed in response as he played with the ball in his hands.

"Is it hard to learn basketball?" I asked out of curiosity. I mean you have to be tall to play basketball and that's something I wasn't blessed with.

"No, I mean you have to be determined to learn. I can't recall exactly when I learned basketball. I played for as long as I can remember." He glanced up at me and smiled. "Do you play?"

"Yeah, well I know my way around it."

"Want to have a match with me?"

I smirked "bring it on."

He began to dribbling while I spread my legs ready to snatch the ball. I followed his movement wanting to find an opening. But I saw none.

What the...

I know he's better than me but he must have a least a small opening. I ran and risked it all when he fake turned just to pass by my side.

I reacted late and he was already making his shot which went in smoothly. After a moment of chasing him and getting the ball stolen I called it quit.

I was panting hard and my legs were sore from my previous training. I couldn't run anymore.

"That's enough, I feel like my legs are about to break." I managed to say between my deep breaths.

Ando chuckled and gave me a grin. "You weren't bad. Actually better than I thought."

"Says the guy who crushed me badly." I laughed. He was really good maybe equal to Amir. He shorter and more leaner than Amir. Their personalities are polar opposites. Speaking of Amir....

"How do you know Amir?" I asked as I dropped on the ground resting my aching legs. Ando cruched down and sat on the ball balancing perfectly. He must have sat often on it.

"I was actually born in London before I moved to my hometown for a few years. And I used to admire Amir a lot in kindergarten." He smiled at the though before he continued. "I never got to befriend him as I was always the shy kid who would hide a tree to watch him. In kindergarten he would always play basketball which a ball twice his size but managed to dribbling it along with his quiet friend, I don't quite remember what his name was."

Wow so Amir basically grew up with basketball. The thought of a five years old Amir running with a huge ball planted a big smile on my face. Man I would love to see that.

"That's when I too began playing basketball and I'm looking forward to meet him in a match." Ando finished.

"Wow I didn't know there was history behind it."

Before he could reply his phone rang and picked it up.

He said something in a foreign language which I could guess was Japanese and turned to me as he hang up.

"Well it's been a pleasure Layla, I hope to see you around."

I jumped on my feet and smiled. "The pleasure was mine."

He grabbed his baskeball and his backpack before his waved at me and ran off.

I sighed and resumed my way home. I'm drained.

And hungry.

*******

I groaned when I heard a groan outside my door.

I turned myself and pulled my pillow on top of my head. Why am I getting a deja vu?

The groaning didn't stop and as I dragged myself from the bed I felt irritated, not to the groaning person but at my body.

Dammit, my body aches all over. It was a long time I trained seriously like this.

I found myself in front Amir's door but not before I stumbled a few times before I got there.

I knocked and waited.

No response.

I knocked and opened the door slowly and what I saw made me pause a moment wide awaked.

There lay a boy trashing and groaning on his bed. For a second he did not look like Amir but a boy having a nightmare.

My heart ached for him. The Amir that annoyed me and always found a way to make me forget things was having a hard time now.

I want to help him. I want to be with him. I want to take away his pain.

I made my way up to him and shook him.

"Amir?" I called out but he did not wake up "Amir!" I said this time more loud and stern.

Suddenly he jolted up and breathed hard, almost as if he couldn't breath at all.

"Medecin." He whispered.

"What?"

"Medecin... in...cabinet..." he managed to breath out.

It was then I could put two plus two.

Amir was on medication for what? I do not know.

I opened the cabinet and gasped when I saw it full with medications.

Whatever he had was serious.
