I shuffled through the cabinet confused as I asked which one of those he needs.
"Beta blocker....the pink and white one." He said panting as if he ran a thousands miles.
I quickly grabbed the pack and popped a pill on his palm. He brought it up to his mouth with a shaking hand and swallowed it.
"Lay down." I said and gently pushed him on the bed which he obeyed and tucked him with his covers.
He grabbed my wrist and looked at me with his teary eyes.
My heart broke in a thousand pieces.
"What is it? Does it hurt? Should I get water for you?" I sat down on the edge of the bed and brought my hand on his chest. I felt his heart beat like crazy beneath my fingers.
"It's my fault." He said, his voice cracking and lips trembling. "It's my fault she died. It's my fault."
"I don't know what you're talking about but I'm pretty sure it's not your fault." I reached out and wiped his tear with both of my hands cupping his face tears was blurring my vision.
"Please don't cry."
Not in a million years have I thought I'd see Amir cry. Him being vulnerable. I guess everyone has their moment. Everyone needs someone they can lean on even if they act tough and strong.
Somehow even the strongest person has a breaking point. And I'll be his pillar whenever he needs me.
Amir repeated 'it's my fault' over and over til he fell asleep again.
I could not say anything else but 'no, it's not' because I did not know what he was talking about. I wish to help him. I wish to take away all his pain. Is that weird? I'm getting sentimental these days but what I'm feeling. Is that love?

Amir's POV
"Mom please let me drive once." My 13 years old's voice pleaded.
"No Amu, baby I can't let you drive. You're too young." My mom said with her eyes were in the road.
"You're so rude. I won't eat if you don't let me." I huffed and crossed my arms at my chest.
"Yeah yeah" she said parked the car.
I wanted to keep being angry but I really wanted to drive.
"Please, only in parking lot. I swear this is the only time." I grabbed her hand and held it tight. "Please please please."
My mom looked at me and sighed in defeat.
"All right."
"Yay!!" I got out from the passenger side and ran to the driver seat.
"But only in 2 mins." She shouted after me and switched seats with me.
"Your dad will go crazy if he knew I'm doing this." She muttered under breath.
I started the engine and it roared with life.
And before I knew it we were upside down. My mom covering me with her body as my sight was filled with blood.
"Mom?" I tried to shake her but I couldn't move my hands. "Mom, please wake up." I whispered struggling to breath right.
The darkness was ready to take me and the last thing I was saw was my mom's beautiful white scarf became red with blood before I gave in to the darkness.
I opened my eyes ready to jump up but I felt a warm hand on my cheek. I looked at the owner of the hand and I saw my beautiful angel sleeping. She sat at the edge of my bed with her head resting on my chest.
Layla.
What is she doing here? Did I wake her up like the last time?
It's always the same dream. Always. The last time I saw my mother. She died because of me. If only I did not ask her to let me drive. She would be alive now.
As a result of that accident I got atrial fibrillation which forces me to take a lot of medications such as beta blockers.
I also got a pacemaker on inside the skin of my chest that makes my heart beat normally and helps me breath.
I guess it's the punishment that I deserved. Only Lucas, his family and my father knows about this accident and my illness. I don't know how I should tell Layla if I will ever.
I slowly sat up trying not to wake her up and moved to the side to make room for her.
I reached for her legs and brought it up on the bed. As if on cue she curled and pressed herself on my body.
How cute.
I wrapped my hands around her shoulder and buried my face in her hair. At least now I can hug her without her permission, she will not find out after all so might as well take advantage of it.
She smells good. That strawberry scent is enough to drive me crazy.
With Layla in both my arms and thought I fell asleep hoping I'd meet her there. God I'm getting whipped.
I woke up again but this time the sun shone through the windows into the room and Layla was sleeping beside me.
Well not exactly....
Her legs was draped over my stomach and her arms was spread apart with her mouth slightly open. Her cuteness made me chuckle.
Dont ask me how we ended up like this.
I slide my hand under her thighs and slowly slipped from under her.
I went to the bathroom and took a quick shower before I brushed my teeth. By the time I went back to my room I saw Layla half sleeping as she was sitting up.
I shook my head at her "Good morning sunshine." I said and she hummed in response. But after a second her eyes flew open and got up from the bed.
"Amir? How are you? You're feeling okay?" She babbled and searched my body and flushed which made me frown.
"I don't remember being sick."
Did something happen last night?
"But-" she began but halted her words before she changed the subject.
"Never mind, what time is it?" She scratched the back of her neck looking uncomfortable.
Why-
I almost slapped myself.
I was standing in front of her with nothing but a towel hanging low on my waist.
Shit I forgot putting on clothes but seeing her face this red I don't mind being like this.
I smirked "6:30" and she glared at me and quickly left the room.
