Chapter 14

:Zachary/ Tanner

The scent of a hybrid was heavy in the air as I inhaled deeply catching Sophia’s scent mingling with the hybrid I shot to my feet as I found myself out of the house walking down the pathway facing the male who was cradling my mate in his arms. Holding myself stiffly trying to control my temper as I looked her over she looked ill and her breathing was to slow for normal even for her to be asleep. ‘what did you do to her?’ I demanded in a shaky voice as fear clutched me. my soul was on the line as I watched my little mate closely.

Watching the male flinch he looked at me with hateful eyes as he held her tighter to his chest her head lolling to the side resting on his shoulder. ‘what did I do to her? What did I do to her?!’ his voice was outraged and pitched as she growled at me flashing his large growing incisors as he glared at me. ‘you did this to her you put her through hell sense she’s been at my home’ so this was the Tanner? The one that kissed my mate rage filled me I wanted his death I wanted his warm blood on my hands as I watched him. ‘She knows about Bonnie, each time you take a woman you were affecting Sophia making her feel lower then low’ he answered with a shaky breath as my heart ached as Tallon howled out in pain as he felt sorrow of knowing I hurt his mate with my actions. ‘its because of you that she’s like this’ he pressed a kiss on her chapped pale lips

Pain filled my stomach as I watched my hands clenched as I gave a strangled whimper of pain on the inside I had to be strong for Sophia I would get her back in my arms. She would forgive she had to forgive me we were mates. I loved her! ‘don’t touch my mate’ I hissed out pronouncing each word using my Alpha to put a threatening vibe in my voice.

Yet he showed no fear as he boldly smiled at me as he pressed another kiss to her lips. My vision blurred my muscles strained to hold up my weight as I threatened to crumble to my feet as I watched her. She began to shake her head lifted slightly as she looked into his eyes her body still shaking as my hands trembled.

I longed to reach out and touch her to close the gap between us and to kiss her. She was my mate and he was touching what was mine! Yet I couldn’t find the words to object as everything began to get blotted out.

‘Tanner?’ her voice came out hoarse and soft as if she hadn’t been talking in a while as my heart broke in two as she wrapped her arms around Tanners neck a little sob filled the air making Tallon whimper and whine in pain as he curled into a ball in e. ‘I seen it Tanner, I seen it’ she whimpered out. How I longed to comfort her my legs held me there making me stand there watching listening to her as she cried to him and held him tight. ‘he was with her’ she whimpered out in a shaky voice that broke my heart as I opened my mouth to object no words came out ‘I cant stand it, I cant make it stop make it stop.’  She begged him.

Finding my voice I whispered her name. ‘Sophia’ her body went stiff in his arms a shuddered ran down her spine she didn’t turn to me she didn’t look at me as she glanced at me finally after a while with wide eyes.

‘tanner what am I doing here?’

Watching him give a little sigh he kissed her forehead my heart ached as she leaned into his touch as he went to speak. ‘I had to bring you here because you’ve been asleep for a very long time, I wanted you back Sophia’ he gave a deep sigh while nuzzling her neck. Pain twisted my heart stealing my breath away as I found my strength to surge forward putting my weight into the punch as he quickly moved aside with Sophia. Turning he faced me.

‘Put her down right now’ I demanded through clenched teeth.

It enraged me to see him simply shrug at me. ‘Do you really think I’d let her stay with a mate like you? I mean you are a cheater who cant keep his dick in his pants’

‘and you’re a disrespectful hybrid that cant keep his hands off another wolf’s mate’ I shot back as I stood at my full height my hands clenched at my sides as  I looked at the back of Sophia’s head. She wouldn’t look at me and it pained me to know she was so close yet so face away from me.

‘ I haven’t done anything that she hasn’t asked for Sophia wasn’t pressured to do anything against her will’ he answered with a  simple shrug another sharp pain to my chest the urge to clutch my chest strong as I fight it off the pain is almost blinding.

‘I don’t want to be here I want to leave’ Sophia whispered in a low voice my heart dropped Tallon howled out in agony. ‘I want to leave I don’t want to be here’ she repeated as she glanced at him. ‘can we go now?’ she asked my heart hurt. Why didn’t she want to be with me? I was her mate I was right here we were meant to be together!

The change happened to quick for me to stop my body trembled and shifted bones cracked as a howl filled my lungs when I landed on four paws. Shaking I moved forward growling as he turned away the man behind him following as he left a smoke filled the air making it hard to see as I forced myself forward trying to move but my body it felt so heavy. As I urged forward till everything went black.

Moaning out in pain I blinked at the harsh light that burned my eyes. ‘Zachary?’ looking up into Darcy’s face I gave a growl.

My Sophia was taken again from me, I should of sounded an alarm I could have had my pack take him down and I could have had her in my arms. Yet why didn’t she fight to stay with me. whimpering out in pain and sorrow I rolled over onto my stomach and buried my face into my pillow.

‘we found you in the forest out cold, what happened?’

Glancing at him I bit my lip. ‘the hybrid brought Sophia back only to take her away from me again’  whimpered out in pain. Nodding he rubbed his face.

‘I had three men go on a search to trace a scent but we lost their tracks after a while like they just disappeared’ he answered with a deep frustrated sigh. ‘there have been ten more killings its getting closer Zachary and we haven’t even began to train everyone that needs to be trained.’

‘so I’ve been told what am I to do about this? Tell Drake about this I don’t have time for that I have to get Sophia back were she belongs’ I answered stiffly as I felt myself sinking into the darkness as I looked at the two intertwined Tallon my wolf quickly slid into the black void of no were hiding from what I seen as I glanced down at my hand reaching out my fingers slipped through the glass cup as I went to look away only to find my gaze jerked back to Sophia as she arched up into Tanners body. Hurt filled me my heart ached as I was forced to watch whimpering out I gave a little whine as my legs gave out falling to the ground on my knees I hung my head thankful that I could look away as I began to pant for breath as I coughed. Looking back up I met Sophia’s gaze.

It was as if she saw me only to quickly look away as Tanner tipped her chin up to his lips. I didn’t want this image’s in my mind.

“what you are seeing is what caused her to go into shock she seen you and your lover now see her with her lover” a voice echoed through my mind making me moan out in pain at the sharpness of the voice.

There was a burning pain in my chest that stole my breath away as I watched helplessly.

My eyes couldn’t move I couldn’t move away, I couldn’t do anything it felt as if someone was holding my eyes open as I watched my mate get down to her bare skin her rosy nipples hard and standing proud as the man touched her cupping her perky breasts.

Whimpering in pain I bit down hard on my bottom lip as I watched them my heart crushing with each kiss and each crease they exchanged as she gave little gasps. She was mine my mate she was suppose to save herself for me.

Groaning I glanced around the room rubbing my aching head my wolf Tallon refused to talk to me as I got up. Standing my legs felt wobbly as I made my way out of the room and down the hall passing three people who gazed at me curiously as I looked around the kitchen.

‘so your awake’ looking at Darcy as he served a cup of coffee. ‘you’ve been in lala land for three days’ he announced as he sat down at the table adding creamer and coffee he took a deep sigh. ‘I’ve been running daily patrols around the land and night watches as well to help keep your people safe’ he added.

Grunting I took a seat in front of him. ‘three days?’

Nodding he took a deep sigh. ‘when they were helping you walk around you went limp and hit the floor the back of your head hit the floor pretty hard and you’ve been out of it muttering and fussing. We just took the restraints off of you not three hours ago’ he answered with a groan as he glanced over at one of his men. Looking thoughtful  his men nodded and left the room. ‘and we have yet to find a trace of Sophia but you shouldn’t care sense Yuki and Penelope are here waiting for you’ he hissed out dryly.

Rubbing my face I sat straight. ‘and what the fuck is that suppose to mean Darcy? We aren’t tossing pasts around at each other its well known that you’ve slept with every unmated female in the kingdom.’

‘What I mean is that you still sleep around while you have a woman who is beautiful and loving just in your reach. You are not unmated you have a mate yet you act like you don’t have one. You have hurt her time and time again each time you sleep with either one of those sluts. And’ he stood up and slammed his cup down the coffee sloshed around. ‘I only sleep with the woman that are willing and know they don’t have a mate I have no mate to worry about when you have one its such a rare gift to have a mate and your throwing it away’ he answered coldly as he left the room slamming the door. The room was silent just the ticking of the clock till the door opened once more. ‘and I hope you know what your doing with kill her, or if she’s lucky it will just take every sense away from her’ his voice chilled my blood as the door slammed shut.

Take away all her sense? Flinching at the thought I pushed them away as I rolled my shoulders. Sophia would be mine even if I had to risk all my pack to have her back.

Glancing over at Sophia I gave a little sigh as she shifted around in the bed as she glanced at me with a blush rolling her shoulders she bit her lip with a thoughtful look. ‘thank you for bringing me back here’ she whispered after a long period of comfortable silent’s between us. I found it easy to just watch her closely as I sat in my chair near the window. I liked how her lips curled slightly as she smiled at me her eyes brightened as she crawled out of bed clad in my long t-shirt and boxers that were slipping down slightly as she tightened the t-shirt to fit her slim waist twisting the back material she tied it up letting my eyes trail down her hips showing the lace frills of her underwear.

Walking to me she settled herself against my chest her head tipped back against my shoulder as she rubbed her hand over mine as I slid it around her waist. ‘something other then that is bothering you’ I whispered to her as I kissed the side of her neck.

‘its nothing’

Kissing the same spot again I gave a deep little sigh as I nibbled softly making her shiver at my touch. ‘don’t lie to me Sophia you don’t have to lie to me. You can tell me what’s bothering you’ licking up her neck I tilted her head more to the side. Her skin was soft as I undid the shirt from the back. Pulling it off of her I tossed it aside my eyes soaking in the lush curves of her breasts, the cream colored bra almost matched her skin tone as I leaned down and buried my face into her neck as I guided her legs around my waist till I was cradled by them. Sitting at my desk with a coffee in hand I gave a little startled gasp when everything suddenly went black my hands trembled as my fingers went num fire shot up my arm as the sound of a cup falling echoed through my mind as the world went quiet. Jerking back the chair I was sitting on flipped back laying there sprawled out on the ground whimpering I curled inward falling to my side as I curled into a ball the hands they stopped the pain echoing through me. It became unbearable to move as I struggled to breath as if I were drowning gasping for air as the breath from my lungs was being pushed out of me.

Crying out in pain as hands touched me I swatted them away only to have the pain increased as the world around me began to clear up dots were everywhere as I looked up at Darcy, Yuki was huddled in a corner crying? His lips were moving but I couldn’t hear the words he was speaking to me as I looked around the room.

‘Sophia’ jerking my eyes to him the one word standing out to me through the quiet of the world. His lips moved against and nothing. ‘Sophia’ he said her name again the only thing I could hear as he reached for me.

Growling out in pain his hand tightened on my arm pain filled me as I gave a gasp.

‘Sophia’ he said it again along with something else but I could only hear my mates name my little mate. I needed her here with me I needed to be with her right now… ‘Zachary stand’ looking up at him I blinked. ‘Zachary look at me.’

Standing slowly my legs wobbled. He was speaking again and now I no longer heard his voice I couldn’t hear him anymore as I looked at me through watery eyes as he forced me to walk each step like glass was on the ground hitting every nerve in my body making me curl and hunch over slightly. Whimpering softly  I clutching his arm as he led me to my room opening the door my knees gave way. Grabbing me from around the waist he helped me to the bed.

Falling into a soft bed you’d think it’d be heaven but no. It was as if I was taking a bath in liquid silver. My skin burned I felt like I was burning from the inside my hands trembled as he pulled the blanket to me each rustle of the sheets as I slowly moved felt as if I was being stabbed with a silver knife. The pain almost crippled me as I stopped moving looking up at Darcy he turned and left the room as the world went black for me.

Growling like an animal at Yuki as she tried to touch me she quickly moved away from me timidly. ‘what’s wrong Zach? Why are you growling at me’ she pleaded with a frown as she went to reach for me again snapping at her hand she stumbled back hitting the dresser in the process of trying to get away from me in a rush. Scowling at her I bared my incisors to her as a threat almost daring her to come at me once more. I would rip her apart if she tried to touch me again.

‘I need Sophia’ I bit out through another growl that rumbled through my clenched teeth my nails had grew as Tallon my wolf stirred in me bringing hope to me that he would finally talk to me again. ‘I need her’ I whispered as a frown creased my brows.

Snorting she put her hands on her lips and tossed her hair out of her face. ‘Sophia isn’t here Zachary you know that, that hybrid took her away and for good to.’ She gave a harsh laugh. ‘you don’t need her when you have all this’ she motioned to her body.

Chuckling I licked my lips. ‘you are a good fuck I will admit that but you will never have the position of a Alpha female no self respecting man would want a slut for a pack Luna.’ I answered soberly. ‘you were nothing to me but a good lay were I needed release, its always been Sophia that I imaged I was sleeping with never once was it you’

Growling her eyes went wide at my words. ‘FUCK YOU’

‘you have multiple times’ I answered with a smirk. ‘now leave that’s an order pack your bag’s your moving out of the pack house.’ I ordered after a while of thinking.

Whimpering she left quickly a sob following with the slam of the door rattling the mirror on the wall. Sighing I rolled my shoulders as I got out of bed. Going to the dresser I pulled out fresh clothes and changed my body ached from earlier.

My glancing at myself in the mirror as I buttoned the satin shirt I gave a sigh my neck was bare showing no mark and that saddened me I wanted my mates mark on me only I didn’t know how it would work out sense she was after al human. Hurt filled my chest as I rubbed over my heart as I finished brushing my hair I grabbed socks and shoed shoving them on quickly. Walking out of my room I passed Darcy barley paying him any heed as I walked down the pathway to my car. Getting in I reached for the keys under the seat and turned it on making the car roar to life.

Pulling away from the curb I headed towards the boundary of my land. What that thing didn’t think about when it showed me my Sophia was that I was looking around those grounds the trees looks similar to that of the ones just out of my land in the deep part of the forest were the hill meets the lake of Lady Moon a sacred ground to all werewolf’s.

Parking just along side the forest I turned the key and put them back under the seat walking out to the edge I looked into through the trees. Glancing down at my feet I started off into the brush easily covering the ground without stumbling or staggering the branches tugging at my jeans as I listened closely to what was around me.

‘What are you doing?’  turning to face the voice I found a small fox.

‘who are you?’

Growling the fox walked around me circling me as I followed its movements closely. ‘I am the guardian of this forest what is your purpose’

Facing it I gulped. ‘I am Zachary looking for my mate’ baring its teeth at me it let out a growl its tail flicking from side to side.

‘there has been no werewolfs on this land sense ten years ago’

Gulping I bit my lip. ‘shes not werewolf it’s a human. She’s a human’ I whispered out in a quivering voice.

‘no human comes to this land this land is a place that is free of your kind and humans alike’ it answered coolly making me flinch slightly

Nodding I sighed. ‘thank you’ watching it disappear I went back the way I cam leaving the forest behind as I grabbed the keys. Groaning I rested my head on the steering wheel my heart ached. I needed Sophia in my arms I need to feel her warmth and her breath against my face.

Whimpering I gave a little moan as I bucked causing her to gag a little flinching I glanced at her. ‘Sorry-sorry’ she didn’t stop what she was doing only began to suck harder pulling on me till her cheeks were hollow and the pull on me greatened feeling my release coming soon as I tried to hold it back.

Pulling her into my arms I held her tight to my chest. ‘you don’t have to try because your doing a perfect job at what your doing,’ I whispered to her. ‘O Sophia’ nuzzling her neck I flopped back pulling her with me our naked bodies only separated by the sheet that covered my crotch. ‘my sweet Sophia’

‘Tanner why do you call me that?’ her voice was muffled by my chest.

‘because you are sweet, and your also going to be mine one day’ I answered smugly. ‘I know I cant offer you much but I hope you do consider us’  I added in a lower voice. Jordan had been right I had fallen in love with her I don’t know if it was because I hadn’t been with a woman for so long or maybe it was because she was always the type of woman I had dreamed of having for a wife.

‘O Tanner’ I flinched, maybe she would leave the heaven to live in the world of humans or maybe she would change her mind after a while and move back with her mate Zachary. I couldn’t let that happen. She needed to know what he had done. She need to know about his past and what she had to do with his past. I wanted her to know what she was getting into I wanted her safe. Hugging her tight I waited for her to finish. ‘I’m the one who has nothing to offer, I have little money, I know how to watch kids but I can cook really good for big groups of people. But I wasn’t taught much and I haven’t finished high school yet’ she began to list like a miserable person.

‘none of that matters you can learn things here I can have the girls here help you out show you the ropes of things but I’m not forcing you to doing anything. You don’t have to work to be able to stay here because I wont allow that.’

Pulling away from me she looked into my eyes and studied me closely.

‘this place is paid off all I have to pay is the electricity and heat, and the bills aren’t really that much. Not to mention this is a heaven to the people I bring here the people who work chose to work I don’t force anyone to’

Chewing on her lip she just nodded to me as she leaned in and kissed me. ‘thank you Tanner’ hugging her close I gave a little sigh.

‘you wont ever have to work unless you want to, and I can get anything you need. For now you’ll use the borrowed clothes but I’ll take you shopping soon.’ Nodding she rolled off. Rolling away I got out of bed pulling a sheet with me wrapping it around my waist I glanced back at her. ‘I have a file to go get ok?’ nodding she stood up shamelessly in front of me in her bares skin her hair falling over her shoulders as she walked to me. Wrapping her arms around my neck I slid my arm around her waist hugging her close.

‘you’ll get protection right?’ blushing I blinked as I looked down at her amazed at how blunt she had said it. So she really was serious about us making love.

‘when we go to get your clothes I’m afraid I cant right now’ a little frown touched her lips making me smirk as I gave her a quick kiss. ‘Soon Sophia your dreams will be complete’ I answered softly as I let her go. ‘I have to get dressed’

Letting me go she found my shirt I had tossed aside glancing around she found the daring piece of underwear. Bending over I watched as I took in the sight of her bare butt getting a nice view of her lush lips I wanted to go to her and take her. Looking away quickly I went to the dresser and pulled out fresh briefs and sweatpants. Shoving them on quickly I left the room quickly before I did something stupid.

‘you stink of sex’ glancing at Ben who walked along side me covering his nose. ‘so you and the girl eh?’

Rolling my eyes I tried to ignore him.

‘so you did the nasty’ he continued to taunt me.

‘it could never be the nasty with Sophia, but no we did not have sex we. Well we just explored’ I answered stiffly. ‘but what I and Sophia do, does not concern you Ben so keep your mouth shut because Sophia isn’t some slut.’ I answered after a moment.

‘jez calm down I was just asking don’t have to freak out on me’ he sobered up and touched my shoulder. ‘but its good to see you with a woman who suits you, she’s a keeper man don’t let him get her because she doesn’t deserve to be ruined with their past intertwining like the way it is they shouldn’t be together as mates should.’ He whispered to me in a steady voice that held a eerie tone to it.

‘All in good time will his deeds be brought to light for the people to see who he really are.’ I answered soberly as I shrugged his hand off. ‘I’ll be in the study if Sophia ask’s for me tell her I’ll be a while.’
