Chapter 16

: Zachary/Sophia

The bloody note that was in my hand earned a growl. How could Blake of all people fail me?! Crumpling the note I rubbed my face as a stab to my chest stole my breath away as I sucked in a shaky breath.

Everything went numb as I felt myself slipping out of my body and into what I now call hell as I took in the sight of Sophia under his body. Anger filled me as I watched her lovingly touch his cheek as she looked up at him with compassionate  eyes.   Agony consumed me as she kissed him her lips pressing against his. Trying to look away was useless as I watched with a miserable groan that they couldn’t hear. Watching her kiss him and trail her hands down his back I flinched when she gave his ass a squeeze this was all wrong this wasn’t suppose to be happening that was my mate that was my Sophia not his. She was mine she IS mine! He will pay for touching her.

Growling I watched in pain as my breath was stolen away as I watched her take his shirt off pushing it up his back reveling the toned skin of his back as she dragged her nails along the skin leaving four red marks as she kissed his neck. My heart felt as if someone was gripping it in their hands. Hers to be exact as she kissed him licking his neck with the tip of her tongue as I started to cough my breath coming in short little pants as I watched with watery eyes.

My little mate was there worshiping his body as if he was her mate as if he was the only man in her life as she arched her neck up allowing him access as he suckled on her neck my stomach lurched as I watched I wanted to look away I didn’t want to see her I didn’t want to see this but I knew karma was kicking me in the ass.

She had witnessed me and Bonnie, Yuki and Penelope but now she was making me witness her and that man. I hated how his hands trailed over her lush breasts my skin was on fire and it wasn’t in a good way my heart ached as I felt as if I was being cooked from the inside out.

Why did I have to witness this? Was it not enough to know my mate was in the bed of another man? Looking away with tears in my eyes I let out a sigh of relief.

‘Tanner!’ I felt that accursed draw of this hell forcing me to look back as his lips latched onto her rosy nipple moaning out in pain I squeezed my eyes shut as Tallon howled out in protest as he begged to be left alone to have this all go away.

Blinking I looked away with shaking hands as I looked up at Blake. Clearing my throat I looked around curiously. Had I been returned to my body? ‘you failed me Blake’ coughing I looked at his chest.

‘the hybrid was stronger than I had first thought he would be’ he answered in a shaking voice. Covering my face I gave a groan.

‘so you weren’t able to get Sophia?’

‘no he had her wear a scent blocker so I couldn’t trace her anywhere I found a trace but it disappeared’     he answered as he cleared his throat.

‘how much will it cost me to have you try  again’

Scoffing he looked away. ‘if I couldn’t get him a first time I cant get him a second time I’m not the man for this job get another for the job’ he answered as he turned on his heels and went to leave.

‘very well have the pack doctor stitch you up’ I ordered with a groan as I leaned back in my chair pushing back I rolled my shoulders as I stood up. Walking out of the study I went to my cold empty bed. Falling into it face first I curled up into it with a whimper of loss. Why hadn’t Sophia come back yet? Why was she doing things with that man? Was her mate not good enough?

Kissing Tanner was almost something that sent fire through my veins sparking need as I dug my nails into his back making him whimper against my lips as our tongues battled for dominance. As always I submitted under him letting him take control as his hips bucked into me pushing his bulge against my woman hood making me want him as he cupped my breasts in his hands as I squeezed his butt in my hands making him growl in pleasure . Pulling away from me he stumbled away from the bed shaking his head with a deep groan.

‘Sophia we cant’ he continued to stress the fact that we could never to anything more then kiss when he didn’t have protection. ‘please don’t tempt me’ he whimpered as I sat up. I felt so in power to know that I tempted him that I made him want me. Licking my lips I looked away. ‘because if you don’t stop I will’

‘please Tanner?’ looking into his eyes he gave a deep groan.

‘I cant do that’ he whispered in a soft voice. ‘don’t ask me that’

‘Tanner…’ I whined as I watched him move farther away.

‘I cant Sophia, not now we cant but soon’ walking back to me he put a knee on the bed cupping my face in his hands he kissed the tip of my nose. ‘I know you want me right now but we have to wait ok?’ nodding I gave a frustrated little sigh as I wrapped my arms around his neck falling back I pulled him with me his weight settling on me as I cocked my legs apart for him to get comfortable as I wrapped them around his waist.  Groaning he glanced between us with burning eyes. ‘you make it hard for me to say no’ he muttered as he buried his face into my neck.

His hot breath tickled my sensitive skin making me shiver as he rolled us over pulling me with him as I pushed myself up to look into his eyes.

‘you want me, you want me so bad I can smell it in the air’ his voice was husky making my skin get goose bumps because it was so deep and sexy as he licked my neck sending shivers through me. ‘I want to taste you Sophia, I want to feel you squirm under me as I pleasure you’

Biting my lip I gave a little moan as he rolled back over on me pinning me there as his hips circled above mine dipping adding pressure as he brushed against me driving me crazy each time he brushed against me. ‘o’ I grunted in shock as he slowly dipped down his lips trailing over my skin sending my heart racing as he went lower glancing at me I watched him in shock as he pulled my underwear down to my knees shoving them off he slid lower his hot breath brushing over my stomach to between my legs that caused me to gasp.

Kissing the inside of my thigh I started to breath heavy as he ran the tip of his tongue up towards my woman hood as he parted my legs more. His eyes burned into mine making me tremble under his gaze.

Glancing over at Tanner from the window I wrapped the blanket around my bare shoulders his soft snores didn’t bother me as I watched him touching my lips with my finger tips I smiled as I remembered how he had kissed me how he had held me. I treasured each second when his hands trailed over my skin sending shivers through me making me gasp out his name.

Groaning he reached around for me grasping for empty space as I pushed away from the window to sit next to him taking his grasping hand he looked up at me with sleepy eyes. Laying down next to him looking into his eyes as he watched me watch him. Chuckling I kissed him on the tip of the nose.  ‘hey sleepyhead’

Grumbling he nuzzled closer reaching for me pulling me to him with a soft yawn. ‘couldn’t sleep?’

Nodding I kissed his cheek avoiding his lips as he watched me.

‘nightmares?’ shaking my head no I cuddled closer.

‘I just have things on my mind that’s all’ I answered softly with a small frown. Grunting he kissed my neck with a deep hum that rumbled through his chest.

‘about what things sweetheart?’ kissing my neck I gave a little sigh as I kept my head at an angle to give him better access.

‘Why was Darcy here? And who was that man the one who was with you when you told me to run?’ I remember Darcy mentioning Zachary would make another move, did that mean Zachary sent him to us?

He took a deep breath as he looked into my eyes. ‘Zachary hired him to kill me and to take you back, I would assume that he didn’t want it to trace back to him so he’d look the same in your eyes.’ He gave me a little kiss. ‘Darcy stopped him in time and ordered him not to take the job again’ he held me tight o his chest. ‘I had our ghost protect you to keep you hidden so he couldnt find you’

‘Zacharys not coming to find me himself?’ I don’t know why but it hurt a little to know he was having others doing his job something he should be doing himself…

Shaking his head I frowned.

‘I thought he wasn’t trying to look for me though, he’s been with Yuki’ I grumbled as he rolled onto me pinning me under him with a grunt I  looked at him with wide eyes. ‘what are you?’

Chuckling he shrugged. ‘all this talk of Zachary is rather a put out, talk about something else’ he ordered as he rested his body down onto me his head resting on my chest as I became accustom to his weight on me. It didn’t bother me at all to feel him on me I actually liked how our bodies fitted together almost seemed to be made to fit like this. ‘I like the natural scent of your skin’ he muttered softly as he gave me a gentle kiss. Rolling off of me he tugged me along pulling me onto his chest my head resting over his heart as I listened to the soft beat of it.

Today Zachary had sent that man to kill him…he was trying to kill Tanner to get me back. In truth it wasn’t a swell of love and pride to know my mate was trying to get me back it only brought a sickening feeling to know he was willing to kill to have me back. He hadn’t once thought about how I would act if Tanner had been hurt or even worst possibly killed.

Tanner made me feel things that my mate should have, true I had felt something when I was with Zachary but didn’t all virgins feel that way when they were with a male for the first time? Sure I felt jealous of Bonnie that she was with him but was it really because he was my mate? I mean no human and no werewolf could be mates it just wasn’t possible! Licking my lips I cuddled closer to Tanner. Something wasn’t adding up and I just couldn’t place it. Zachary didn’t want me I knew he didn’t he wanted every girl but me…he had been with woman for seven years and not once did he think about me when he slept with the woman.

Even now he didn’t think about his actions I could only hope that one day I could inflict such pain on him as he has done to me. This bond as Ben had said was breaking and it could cost me my life but it also couldn’t. And I hope it wouldn’t because-as silly as it sounds I would like to spend my life with Tanner the half breed that will no doubt live well past me…which saddened me to know I will be so short lived…while he would move on.

‘What are you thinking about Sophia?’ his voice rumbled under my ear as I propped myself up to look into his eyes. I simply shrugged as I looked at him my eyes trailing over his face taking in his features. ‘it cant be nothing because you got that far off look in your eyes’ I shrugged again making him growl at me. ‘you know you don’t have to hid things from me right?’  I nodded again.

‘I was thinking about the bond between me and Zachary’ I admitted. ‘it would have broken if you hadn’t of taken me back to my pack’s land’

‘I would have lost you Sophia you had been asleep for days… you were dying slowly because you weren’t getting the nutrients that you need’ he answered stiffly. ‘I couldn’t risk your death it was the only thing I could think of that would of worked.’

‘I wish you hadn’t of taken me back…you only made the bond get better it was almost broken…I  would have been free’ I whispered softly. ‘and Zachary wouldn’t of been trying to hurt you today’

He didn’t answer any more of my questions in fact he went silent and rolled away from me with a puff as he went to sleep his breaths coming out in even intakes. Sighing softly I rolled out of bed and grabbed a night gown wrapping a blanket around my shoulders I went to the door and opened it walking out I glanced down the hall and made my way down the hall.

I wanted fresh air I needed to think.  I knew Tanner was hiding things from me, but I didn’t know what. Was he lying to me when he said I could stay here for as long as I live? Was he lying when he said he wanted to have a “us” in the future? What was really stopping him from taking me intimately? Pushing the door open I looked up into the star sprinkled sky with a little sight the cool air biting my exposed legs as I walked a little further the pads of my feet chilled by the cement

‘Sophia’ the voice scared me making me whimper as I stumbled back as the shadow stepped out moving closer the movements so familiar to me as Zachary’s eyes locked onto me. ‘I knew I would find you’ his voice was hoarse as I staggered back father away with a little scream when he went to reach for me. Falling back I hit the ground my butt hurt as I looked up into his face. How had he found me?!

Jolting up I gave a little gasp as I felt hands touching me screaming out I blinked looking around I face Tanner as he stopped shaking me. ‘Sophia whats wrong?’

Giving a little sob I threw my arms around him hugging on tight fear clutched me. Had that all been a dream? ‘I-I-nightmare’ I whimpered out in a sob. ‘He-he found me…he found me’

‘who found you?’ holding me away from him he whispered to me telling me to breath to calm down. ‘start from the beginning sweet heart.’

‘I got out of bed after you stopped talking’ I whimpered softly. ‘an-an I got dressed… I wanted fresh air so-so I went outside to the front door…but-but’ I sucked in a shaky breath. ‘he was there he found me… he tried to touch me an…and I fell back…’

‘Zachary?’ I nodded. Wrapping his arms around me he held me tight smoothing his hand through my hair hushing me till I stopped shaking my breathing evened out as I closed my eyes. ‘it was just a dream we have trip lines all around the property that would alert security, if he got through that we’d be ready for him sweetie everything’s going to be ok’

Jolting up in my bed my hand reaching out as looked around wildly. Sophia was just in my reach I almost had her! Groaning I flopped back in bed drenched in sweat as I shifted around kicking off the down blanket and sheet tearing at the buckle of my pants I stripped down to my boxers. My breathing coming out in heavy pants as I looked up at the ceiling.

O Sophia why do you shy away from me as if I’m a monster? That man cant mean that much to you! I am your mate I am your’s you are meant to be by my side till the end of time.

Rolling over face first into a pillow my heart ached I wish I had something that smelled of her that carried her scent to comfort me. Sitting up I crawled out of bed pulling on pajama pants I walked out of my room and out of the house. Jogging to the packs house I walked in taking the stairs three at a time as I found myself down a hall glancing at the doors I paused at her door. Pushing the door open I found myself in a baby blue room that was filled with her scent my wolf settled down as I trudged to her bed. Falling down onto the small twin size that protested under my weight I curled up in it and inhaled deeply as I cradled the pillow in my arms.

Grunting out I gave a little smile as I felt Sophia’s weight shift on me pushing herself up I opened my eyes  too look up into her as she gave me a kiss. ‘Good morning stinky breath’ she teased lightly making me kiss her again as her nose scrunched up.

‘hey bed head’ reaching up I scuffled her hair making her gasp out.

‘TANNER!’ my heart dropped no this couldn’t be! I thought brokenly as I realized that accursed thing had put me in his body once more forcing me to live through this hell as she kissed him. ‘your breath is really bad.’ She commented seconds late.

‘and yours is like mint, you got up early this time?’ he asked her with a light chuckle as she rolled off of him. Whimpering I was curled up in him with Tallon howling out in pain.

Watching me- I mean him she pulled out of bed quickly. ‘ya I had to take a shower my hair felt gross’

‘didn’t have any more nightmares have you?’ he asked as he got  out of bed and walked to bathroom.

‘I haven’t had one sense that day you took me back to the pack’s land. Strange really, but I haven’t felt sick lately maybe the bonds broken like Ben said’ she muttered just loud enough for him to hear as he brushed his teeth.

‘you don’t show any signs of the bond being broken you yourself said it was only made slightly stronger. That dream you had last night the one where he found you that’s the first time right?’ he asked as he walked out after taking  a piss and washing his hands.

She nodded at him with a shiver. ‘ya up till then it had always shown me the things he did’ she whispered in a dead voice with tears in her eyes.

Walking to her he wrapped his arms around her making me whine out in protest she’s my mate!

‘I was thinking about showing you around the house introduce you to some people so you can make friends’ he announced. Pulling back she looked at him with a raised eyebrow.

‘just like you said you were going to start me in school?’

He gave a curse making me listen closely maybe he would say what school then I could just go to it and take her away. Without having to kill him…

‘shit I forgot about that, Sorry but I will do it soon I have three in mind but I have to let you chose so we’ll do that after breakfast your stomach is yelling at me.’
