Chapter 18

:Zachary/Sophia

I knew I scared her, the way I talked about killing Tanner to get her back. But I wasn’t thinking straight by the time I could get her back she could be more emotionally attached to him. And I could hurt her by killing him but I wasn’t about to let him get in my way of happiness that was my baby, that was my Sophia not his to claim not his to touch not his to sleep with.

She is my mate and if he did dare sleep with her I would kill him just for touching my mate. Growling I clenched my hands with a deep hiss of air that slipped out from between my clenched teeth. Opening the window in my room I let the cool morning  breeze sweep into my room. Today she started school, and today would be the day I brought her back home. I wouldn’t stand for any more of my mates actions any more. I would lock her up in our room I would lock the windows if I had to. Just to keep her here I would bed her and mark her making it impossible for her to leave me.

‘you haven’t tried looking for her’ turning I face Darcy.

‘she’s my mate to worry about not yours’  I answered coolly as I looked away from him. ‘you should be leaving by now’

‘your right I shouldn’t have to worry about her, but sense you aren’t I will. SoSo doesn’t need someone like you in her life your not even trying to get her back’

Turning to face him again I gave a growl.  ‘I’ve been waiting for seven years to have my mate by my side,  I will have her brought back to me’ I answered coolly as I took a deep breath.

My senses were reeling and Tallon was telling me to go to a school. Somehow he knew something no felt something as I found myself walking past him.

“are you sure about this?” I demanded with a deep growl as I clenched and unclenched my hands as I paced in my back yard.

“of course I’m sure I can sense her close, she’s here I know she is” Tallon answered in a deep demanding voice.

He was ordering me to go to all the neighboring schools to search for Sophia saying she was close. “She cant be here we looked all over the area” I answered stiffly. “I highly doubt the man is stupid enough to enroll her in a school close to her old pack”

“that’s what you think she’s wearing a scent blocker, Zachary for a Alpha you don’t bother to listen to me you should have listend to me we are one you ignorant bastard I know when my mate is near and SHE is near us I can feel her!” he boomed out in outrage for me even questioning his knowledge.

Flinching I blocked him off as I stopped pacing. I couldn’t smell Tanner and I couldn’t catch any trace of Sophia’s scent. But there was another scent one that tickled my nose and made Tallon give a growl of approval.

“go now to the east bank of the stream” he ordered to me in a strong voice.

Doing as he asked I walked through the woods to the bank a small stream that had a little log bridge that allowed the children to walk to and from. Sighing I sniffed the air. That scent that ticked my nose was gone. “why did you bring me here nothing is here!” I demanded roughly as I looked around noting two set’s of footprints in the mud along the side of the stream. Walking closer I found a little girl sobbing quietly holding her knee as a boy knelt beside her trying to comfort her in an adult like manor as he washed the blood away as she sniffled. Looking in awe I felt my jaw drop it was easy to see that those two were mates, that they had the affection and tenderness that any adult wolfs would have towards one another. Yet here before me were to mere children taking care of each other.

Looking up at him with loving eyes the girl stood and threw herself at the boy knocking him back as he caught her holding her tight he rubbed her back.

‘One day we’ll be like your mom and dad, and my mom and dad’ the boy whispered to her as he glanced up at me a growl slid between his pink lips making me almost laugh as I stepped away his arms tightened around the girl till she was plastered to his body. Glancing at me with big brown eyes she gave a whimper.

“These children aren’t from our pack Zachary” Tallon whispered as he watched through me a understanding in his voice that made me curious. “their not from any pack they were born in a family of werewolfs that never found their wolf’s at a young age most like them don’t ever change into their wolfs similar to a hybrid but they cant even change half way” he explained making me feel sorry for them. “but they can hear them their wolfs talking to them like I talk to you, its sad really the fact that they don’t have their wolf form most are kicked out of packs and now live in a small community far from here I wonder what these children are doing here on our land.”

‘who are you children’ the boy held onto his mate watching me as he moved them back a step the girl watching me with fearful eyes. ‘Answer me.’

‘we didn’t know this land was claimed’ the girl whispered.

‘Don’t speak to him Clair’ the boy ordered as he shifted pushing her behind his body as he watched me. ‘We’ll be leaving Alpha, we didn’t mean to come so far’

‘Were are your parents’ I demanded feeling the need to have these children safe with the killings of mates they could be a target because of the fact that they were so helpless in their state. ‘you shouldn’t be wondering around these parts’

‘with the killings? Yes we know’ he answered smoothly. The tone he cared was to adult like for his age as he glanced around.

“leave them be the boy is to headstrong to accept any help from you,” Tallon sighed in my head as he paced around in me he wanted out he wanted to feel the air ruffle through his fur and to feel the grass between his paws.

Groaning I listened to him and turned on my heels leaving the two children there. It boggled me to know that boy had such an adult like aura to him. As it he were my age or a little younger.

Sophia was in school now from what I though it was 1:23 and I was sprawled out in bed. Productive right? No not really but in truth without Sophia by my side I had no drive to move to do anything really even thought Tallon was still as strong as before I still didn’t want to do anything without my mate by my side it was starting to affect me slightly. I could barley sleep and when I did it was about her, and that accursed thing constantly placed me in his body forcing me to hear their talk forcing me to watch them touch.

It sickened me to the point I couldn’t move I didn’t want to move it was like a cramped muscle to much pain to move I just wanted to lie there and die.

Simply die to end the pain, she  had gotten her wish. She was inflicting pain upon me just as she had said she wanted. I was paying for the things I did with my many mistresses, by having to watch her with one having to hear how she wanted to spend the rest of her life with them. She had barley been there for two weeks they didn’t know each other good enough to have such strong feelings.

Rolling over in bed I pulled her blanket to my chest. As pathetic as it sounds I had her pillows and blankets brought to my house, our house so I didn’t have to cram myself in her tiny bed.

‘Zachary’ grunting I glanced at Drake.

‘Yes?’

‘I sent two of our pack members to Windbree high school.’ He began slowly. ‘we found Sophia’ sitting straight up I cleared my throat.

‘And?’

‘we couldn’t do anything because she was surrounded by humans Alpha’ he answered in a shaky voice.

Growling I clenched my hands. ‘have someone snatch her when she gets alone’

‘we tried that, they waited till lunch but she was never alone she was with some boy’ growling at the mention of a boy I gave a deep sigh. She was with Tanner from what she told me so that boy meant nothing. But it was still upsetting Tallon he didn’t want her near any male till she bore his mark and was scented by him. He wanted everyone to know that she was his mate that she belongs to us and no one else.

‘very well I will do it’ I answered as I got out of bed.

Glancing down the hall I paused by a class door and knocked on it. Waiting a teacher opened it. ‘How may I help you?’

‘I need to speak with Sophia for schedule changes and paperwork’ nodding the teacher closed the door on my face as she began to speak. The door opened and I couldn’t help but gasp at her beauty my eyes taking in her curves that her tight clothes shown. Her face was shocked and frightened as she went to step back gripping her arm I tugged her to me wrapping my arms around her. ‘Sophia’

‘Let me go’ she whimpered out as I pulled her down the hall with me her struggle was barley noticeable as anyone walked by each time she’d stop acting like it was nothing that I was pulling her in tow of me. ‘Zach let me go’ she demanded in a more firmer voice.

‘if you want Tanner to live you’ll come with me quietly’ I growled out in sudden jealousy as I took in her scent that was polluted with his scent, he had scent marked her laying his claim in a less animalistic way.

Stopping in her tracks her eyes grew wide and tears built up in them making me almost regret my words till her head dropped her arm went slack as she stopped pulling. Starting to walk again she stayed in pace not saying a word about what I had said. I knew it hurt her to think about his death sense those two had gotten so close but he would be the last thing on her mind by the time we were mated and she wore my mark. ‘I hate you’ those three words tore at my heart making Tallon whimper and whine as she looked at me with triumphant eyes. She knew she was hurting me and she was proud about it?

It shocked me to know how much she had changed in the time she was taken. This Tanner person had changed my sweet Sophia.

‘home’

‘prison’ she answered coldly as she stomped to the chair pausing she kept standing.  And I knew why she had stopped herself from touching anything.

‘I had everything replaced.’ I whispered in a dead voice. Having her home didn’t bring the swell of emotions I had hopped she was treating me like a stranger when in fact I had every right to be punishing her for what she did.

Growling I reached out to her pulling her into my arms as I buried my face in her neck making her yelp and squirm as picked her up. Walking to my room I tossed her on our bed watching her bounce. Pushing her hair back she glared up at me. ‘what are you doing?’ pulling my shirt off I tossed it to the ground as I kicked my shoes off. Crawling into bed I slid over her pinning her there when she tried to get off.

Whimpering as I pressed my lower body against hers her body froze up locking up fear was in her eyes as I gave her a kiss. Her lips unresponsive for a second as she slowly responded. She couldn’t help it even if she didn’t want to our bond as a mate would triumph what she was fighting to stop.

‘no stop’ she uttered against my lips as she squirmed under me making me growl as I pulled her top off sliding my fingers between her breasts I unclipped her bra ignoring her pleas and whines as I undressed her slowly keeping her trapped under me as I kissed her arching her back with my hand to make her meet my touch.

He wouldn’t stop his lips trailed over my skin bringing out a need in me that I now understood as I fought to keep control of myself I tried imagining myself somewhere else only to gasp out and jerk up into his touch when he slid a wet finger between the folds of my woman hood his finger move sparking a wave of heat through my blood as I curled my fingers in the sheets as I gave a little whimper.

‘no-stop’ I whimpered out in a shaky voice as he dipped his head down running his tongue up my stomach I shifted under him as he moved his finger in me slowly sliding the tip of another finger in me making me freeze with a little whine. It hurt as I sucked in a startled little gasp. ‘Zachary-you-your hurting me’ tears threatened to fall as he slid the second finger out to only move the other one in more rapid move making me whimper and clench up as I tried not to let it effect me.

Tanners face filled my mind filling me with guilt. I was his. I was Tanners girlfriend. Pushing Zach off was easier then I would have thought then again he was to busy trying to get me ready for him. Moving away from him I scrambled out of bed and towards the bathroom door. ‘Sophia’ freezing I looked back at him as I shrank against the door. ‘get back here’

‘no’

‘Sophia baby come back here’ he whispered in a husky voice that almost made me groan.

‘DON’T call me that. I belong to Tanner’ his eyes widened in shock that disappeared and turned into rage as he stalked towards me.

‘you belong to NO one BUT me Sophia and you will remember that’ locking a steel arm around me I gave a yelp followed by a scream as I pounded on his chest with my fists as he tossed me on the bed. ‘Sophia my dear I planned on waiting to get you accustomed to having me with you once again but you crossed the line.’ Whimpering I watched as he put a knee on the bed making it dip under his weight making me whimper again as I went to roll away. gripping my arm he settled his weight on me holding me under him making me nervous as his hips pressed into mine.

‘stop-don’t’ pushing against his chest tears trickled down my face as he leaned in his lips brushing against mine making me freeze up as he pressed against me rubbing his hips into mine making me tremble.  I couldn’t do this. I was with Tanner this is wrong.

Yet why couldn’t I move away from him why couldn’t I push him away and stop myself from moaning out.

‘Tanner’

Watching his eyes darken with hate he quickly rolled off of me.  ‘I am not your Tanner’ he hissed out through clenched teeth as he moved to the bathroom door.  With narrow eyes he opened the door and walked in. ‘By the end of tonight you will not be his anymore’

Slamming the door behind him I glanced around finding my shirt I put my clothes back on with shaky hands as I slipped out of bed. Not bothering to get my bra I tiptoed through the house till I was at the front door. Testing it I flinched when I realized he had locked it and took the key. Eyeing the rather large window I weighted my chances.

Picking up a pillow I wrapped the case around my hand as I threw a chair at it the window shattering clearing a place I hopped out in time to hear him calling my name as I hopped in the car reaching for the keys I looked up at him as I started the car up.

His broad chest was on display a part of me wanted to sit there watching him. He looked shocked that I went this far as I backed out of the driveway.  It wasn’t till then that he realized that he was just standing there hopping out he runs towards me as I hit the gas making the tires squeal.

Shaking I felt my heart race as the tires hit a water puddle the speed of the car didn’t help as I let off the gas trying to gain  control of the car. Why did I have to take this back road? I had almost forgotten that these parts were muddy as I went with the turned of the car to the left to the right then a 180 into a tree that was across the ditch lurching forward I gave a gasp as the seatbelt stopped me the air bag went off as I bounced back into my seat.

My hands were shaking as I looked around in a daze. Taking in where I was I gave a shaky laugh as I glanced in the glove compartment thank god he had a phone.

Unbuckling I opened the door pushing it open I glanced down and hoped out. ‘shit’ my chest hurt right along the area were the belt was as I dialed in Tanners number.

‘This is Tanner leave a name and number I’ll get back at ya’ his answering machine picked up.

Whimpering I licked my dry lips. ‘Tanner is Sophia, I need help’

I hoped to god he would call me back I wanted Tanner I didn’t want to be here anymore as I glanced around unsure my shoes were ankle deep in mud. The phone rang and I instantly picked up. ‘Sophia’ Tanners voice made my panic wash away with a calm pleasing aura around me as I took a deep breath. ‘whats going on whos number is this?’

‘I’m in a ditch, I crashed a car’ I admitted with a shaky laugh. ‘He found me Tanner, there where pack members at the school for some reason I tried to hid but they saw me I guess…I got away though’

‘and crashed his car? How were... are you your ok right?’

‘I um ya I’m ok  think I got a bruise but it doesn’t hurt that much. I’m on Malcolm just past the tree house’ I answered in a shaky voice. ‘please hurry’

‘I’m on my way’ hanging up I glanced around as I heard something coming.

‘Sophia?’ looking at Jordan my ghost I gave a little relieved sigh.

‘what are you doing here?’

Walking to me he handed me his coat. It was strange that he was so real, yet he was a ghost or a spirit maybe. ‘I had a bad feeling so I came here now I know why’ he answered smoothly as he checked my over brushing my hair away to look at the already showing bruise across my chest. ‘you smell of another male’

‘Zachary’s scent I assume’ I answered in a grumble.

‘so he found you?’ nodding he gave a deep sigh. ‘What a shame you made a lot of friends’

‘I know’ I gave a little pout.

‘Maybe Tanner will have Dustin enroll to keep you safe.’

Looking up at him I shrugged. ‘I think I’ll ask to be home schooled I don’t want to be taken back.’

Hopping up from Jordans lap as Tanner pulled up parking he hopped out and had me in his arms holding me to his chest. ‘your ok,’ he gave a little groan. ‘you had me worried, how did you crash?’

‘mud I went this way and that then boom ditch, Jordan came’

Giving me a kiss he sniffed me. ‘his scent is all over you’

‘he tried to, to do this with me.’ I muttered with a frown. ‘but I got away, he got mad at me’

Giving me another kiss he looked into my eyes. As if he were trying to see the truth, ‘I’m glad you got away I may have had to go get you again’

Resting my head on his chest I gave a little groan. ‘I want to go home.’

‘I want to go home’ those words hurt to hear them from her mouth as she  looked back up at him. I didn’t move I was watching her hearing her tell him watching him watch her with uncertain eyes. My scent was on her I had replaced his scent mark with my own. Which was now quickly gone. Their scents mingled enraging Tallon and I as I bit back growled of rage.

‘Home it is’

‘I made friends, but now-’ she frowned. ‘I tried Tanner I really did.’

‘I’m glad you made friends, don’t be sad you’ll see them again’ he answered as he kissed her. ‘we should be leaving now something isn’t right here.’

‘Tanner’ glancing at the boy from the stream I watched as the little girl Clair moved by his side as he walked closer. ‘Your Tanner right?’

‘depends’

‘We need your help’ the boy answered softly as he kept his arm around her waist. ‘please we heard of you, you help the ones in need’

‘Tanner hear them out’ Sophia whispered as she slid her fingers between his. ‘please?’

‘what is it?’ Tanner finally huffed out.

‘Our families, we need a place to stay my mate and I we need a place’ he whispered as the girl whimpered.

‘Toby cant we go back home?’ she whimpered as Tanner watched him.

‘We were attacked our house is burned we have nothing you have to help us’

‘very well come with me’ Tanner fell for the pleading eyes of Sophia as she tugged on his hand trying to get him to listen to her.

Tanner brought the kids with us and I was great full that he listened to me after dropping me back home I was left to take a shower and to wait for him to return with the others.

Sighing I glanced around the bathroom I was nose deep in bubble bath as I scrubbed at my skin trying to get rid of Zachary’s scent even I could smell him on me the pungent scent of a wolf’s claim tickled my nose. Tanners had smelled sweet and mouthwatering when he had marked me with his scent while Zachary’s didn’t appeal to me in the least bit.

‘Sophia’ glancing up at Tanner as he walked in I nodded to him with a smile till it faded away as I looked at Zachary as he shoved Tanner in a gun pointed to his back.

Whimpering I felt my lips quiver. ‘I told you, that you crossed the lines’ Zachary bit out through clenched teeth as he motioned me to move.

‘Don’t Sophia you stay where you are’ Tanner ordered with a growl making me stay put as I watched with fear clutching me.

‘Don’t hurt him please’

‘yes don’t hurt him’ glancing at Darcy who was by my side I looked between the three Tanner stood there tall his eyes pleading me to listen to him as Darcy wrapped an arm around me. ‘at least not in front of the child.’ Ushering me out of the room I looked back with a whine.  A pop went off making me jump

Jolting up in bed gasping for air  I rubbed my face as I looked around. ‘Tanner?’ coming out of the bathroom in sweats his chest dripping wet I gave a little sigh. ‘it was just a dream’ pulling my knees to my chest I hunched over resting my forehead on my knees.

‘whats wrong?’ sitting next to me he rubbed my back. Leaning against him I wrapped my arms around him.

‘nightmare’

‘he was with another woman?’ shaking my head I rubbed my face into his chest as I slid onto him wrapping myself around him.

‘no, Zachary had a gun and he was going to hurt you’ I answered in a quivering voice.

‘look at me’ peeking up at him he brushed my hair away as he looked into my eyes. ‘ one question’ I waited. ‘doesn’t the sweat bother you’ glancing him over I shrugged as I inhaled deeply.

‘I like how you smell.’ Gross? No not really he just had that about him he smelled good when he was sweaty I wanted to run my tongue down his stomach and up again.

Chuckling he laid back pulling me with him. ‘your strange’ he sighed as he ran his hands through my hair. ‘but I can deal with that’

‘Tanner?’

Grunting he shifted around. ‘ya?’

‘Would you really come and get me if he got me again?’ I muttered against his skin trailing my fingers over his chest as I waited for him to answer me.

‘I would, I couldn’t let you go there against your will not when he’s so wrong for you’ he whispered softly. ‘you’re my girlfriend now I cant stand by and let another man have you when you belong to me’
