Chapter 22

:Tanner/Sophia/Zachary

Sophia had just passed out, we had gotten back home three hours ago, but I knew she was pretty upset about Brents twisted joke. Huffing I slid out of our room and down the hall to trail it was 4 in the morning and everyone was asleep beside me it seemed as I flipped the lights on in the training room.

Sophia kept amazing me, each time I thought I would loose her to the bond between her and Zachary she’d prove me wrong.

Just maybe we could be together for as long as she wanted. But after all she was human and she isn’t built like a wolf or a half bred. For us we mate for life and I want to have Sophia as my mate but the only thing that made me so hesitant to fully marking her was the fact that she’s a human and they aren’t like us. They can have many loves, it was unlikely for them to have a mate for life.

I could just be a phase…I could just be one of the many males that she will love.

Pushing that thought away I started doing push ups till my arms burned and I was covered in sweat my breathing labored as the doors opened.

Not paying any attention to it I shifted to lay on my back to do crunches.

‘Tanner we have school in a couple of hours’ looking up at Dustin as he rubbed his eyes I gave a smirk. ‘don’t be so cocky you’ll be grouchy and none of us need to see your dark side anytime soon. So go back to bed.’

He ordered making me give a sharp laugh. But I couldn’t stop I had things on my mind that I  didn’t want to think about that I didn’t want to confront at the moment.

‘Sophia wont leave you’ he whispered to me making me stop. Sitting up I brushed the sweat from my forehead to raise an eyebrow at him. ‘she likes you a lot, loves you. She wouldn’t leave you she may not be a wolf but she was raised by them.’ He turned and left me there slightly alarmed.

‘but we don’t know that she’s human’ I whispered in a raw voice that broke at the end as I hung my head. ‘we don’t know if she’ll stay with us for long now she may want to but things could change when she realizes she’d never be able to have her own family’ I whispered as I held my face in my hands my knees close to my chest. I felt helpless with all this pent up emotions

I wanted to give into her and to take her, I wanted to share that bliss with her but I was afraid to. What if she chose to go back to her mate in the end? What if she chose to pack a bag an leave me here alone?

The morning light shined in the room as I slid into my boot cut dark blue jeans followed by a Nightmare Before Christmas shirt. Walking out the house I wondered around the yard looking up into the sky I loved the colors of the sun yellow and orange lit the sky in swirls

A howl pierced the air making me shiver in fear as I looked around. Trotting up to me a wolf with pants in his teeth dropping them he shifted revealing Ben. Keeping my eyes up he put the pants on and stretched. ‘a bit early to be walking around alone?’

Shrugging I gave a weak smile. ‘I’m just waiting for Tanner to wake up he’s well  I don’t think he got any sleep last night.’

Nodding he smiled. ‘o I see’

‘ya I think I’m going to let him sleep some more, I’ll just call Lex to give me a ride to school’ heading back to the house I went to our room. Opening the door slowly I found him still tangled in the sheets snoring softly.

From his intoxicating smell I knew he had been working out all night long. He had gotten back just before my alarm went off to tell me it was time to get up.

Reaching for his cell phone I found Lex’s number and hit call.

‘Whats up?’ she asked in a cheery voice.

‘I need a ride and Tanner is passed out’ I answered with a soft sigh. ‘can you come get me?’

‘sure can do I’ll be there in 20’ she answered. ‘see you soon’

Hanging up I tossed the phone down and sat in the chair next to the window. Rubbing the back of my neck I gave a sigh as I watched him sleep. He looked peaceful yet troubled as I watched him closely.

‘Sophia Lex is here’ looking at the door as Dustin poked his head in I nodded as I hopped up.

‘if he gets up tell him I didn’t want to wake him’ I muttered as I slid past him and down the hall finding Lex strutting towards me.

‘well don’t you look hot’ she smirked as we headed back out of the house.

‘Thanks I guess.’

Walking down the hall next to Lex was ok but I wished it was Tanner who was by my side so I could cling to his arm. I felt unsafe without him even though I was surrounded by humans and two vampires for friends. But nothing could beat having Tanner my boyfriend around. Boyfriend. The word still felt strange on my mind yet felt right all the same.

‘your thinking about him aren’t you?’ looking at Lex I blushed. ‘I can see it in your eyes’

‘o’ I blushed as I hid my face with my hands. ‘gosh’

‘look its ok, you two are in love. Sweethearts’ she muttered with a chuckle. ‘o look its captain dick head’ looking up I met Zachary’s eyes and by him Brent.

‘I don’t know what your talking about’ Brent muttered smoothly sending chills of fear through me. ‘did you like the present the teachers sent you’ gritting my teeth I couldn’t explain the anger I felt as I took a step forward my hand snapped forward coming into contact with his hand with enough force to make it sting.

‘Sophia whats going on?’ Zachary jerked me away from Brent.

Lex pulled me from Zachary. ‘your boy over there gave Sophia a box with a heart in it saying it was from the teachers. Nice way to pick your friends Zachary’ shaking with something I couldn’t explain Lex pulled me away from them leading me to her locker.

‘I need to talk to you’ looking over at Zach I felt my mouth run dry and my pulse quicken. ‘alone please’

Nodding slowly he took my hand in his and led me away.

‘I just wanted to say I didn’t know he did that, if I had known I would have stopped him’ he whispered softly. Looking away I took a deep breath. ‘and about the other night, I’m sorry I acted the way I did’

‘ok, can I go now?’ I muttered as I went to pull away. Blocking my way he lifted my chin up to look in my eyes.

‘Sophia, your shaking’ he whispered softly his eyes studying my face.

‘its cold I cant help it’ I lied but he bought it because he was unzipping his sweatshirt and sliding it around my shoulders.

‘wear that, and Sophia I will win you’ he whispered as he turned and walked away. shivering once more I thought about taking the sweatshirt off but it was warm so I kept it on and walked back to Lex’s locker were Evan and Linley had joined her.

‘so douche bag has a heart’ Lex grumbled dryly.

‘you don’t have to be so mean’ I muttered with a small frown.

‘Come on SoSo, you cant be serious that guy has put you through hell and yet you still don’t really want to hurt him do you?’ I looked away quickly. ‘guys like him don’t change Sophia they can be sweet and charming but when they got you they turn back to their real self. For him it’s a man whore he’d cheat on you ever chance he’d get’ she answered roughly as she left us standing there.

Feeling tears fill my eyes I glanced at Linley as she patted my back. ‘she’s just to out spoken some days. She thinks she’s doing you a favor.’ She whispered softly to me. ‘her hearts in the right place its just she doesn’t know how to express how she feels.’

Nodding slowly I slid my hands into the pockets of the sweat shirt and made my way to the cafeteria to get a warm pop tart.

Class was boring but that was what I could expect when Tanner hadn’t shown up at all. I had hopped he would wake up and come but I think he wore himself out a lot.

It was ten minutes to the end of school and I glanced at the doorway to find Dustin leaning waiting for me. getting out of my seat I sighed. ‘ya?’

‘we got a pass to leave early things have come up he wants you home’  he muttered as he pulled me out of the room. Nodding I let him lead me away as Zachary stepped out in front of us.

‘you getting her somewhere safe right?’ Zach demanded as he glanced between ys.

‘Yes Tanner called and requested me to take her back’ Dustin informed.

‘is it just me or do I smell dog?’ looking down the hall as a male walked towards us his black hair fell into his face his body was intimidating as I gave a whimper. ‘When I came here I didn’t expect to find you Zachary its been a while sense we’ve seen each other’ the man flipped his hair out of his face revealing a large scare running down from his temple to his chin. ‘we have a score to settle mutt’

‘Dustin get her out of here now’ Zachary demanded as he pushed us behind him.

‘O no I cant let a half bred get away with a human’ the man hissed as he took off running towards us.

‘Sophia!’ looking back I met Lex’s eyes as Melody stood beside her, her eyes were glazed and her lips moved. ‘Come on we don’t have all day Melody’s blocking us from him’

Wrapping an arm around my waist Dustin started to run towards them as I looked back finding Zachary and the man missing the hall empty only a little puddle of blood that made my own run cold.

Whimpering I curled into Evans side shaking violently as Lex drove, Dustin was behind us keeping us safe leading them in a different direction. ‘whats going on’ I finally demanded as we took a turn.

‘Hunter’s have found out that there have been werewolfs in our school. We’ve never had much trouble with them because Melody gave us theses’ she waved her wrist that held a leather beaded bracelet. But with you guys who came it brought attention to us’ she whispered.

‘here wear this’ Melody handed me a bracelet similar to Lex’s only mine had a crescent moon dangling from it.  ‘this will protect you’

Nodding I curled back into Evan clutching handfuls of his shirt. ‘why isn’t Linley here?’

‘Linley is human and the hunters wont target her its safer for her to be away from me’ Evan whispered softly.

Lex stayed at the door while Evan and Melody helped me into the house were Tanner was waiting. Wrapping his arms around me he held me tight. ‘I’m going to show you something’ he whispered as he led me with him to a room. Opening the door he glanced at me. ‘this is were you will be when shit hits the fan you hear me?’ I nodded with a whimper. Squatting down he kicked the carpet aside. Picking up something he removed a wooden door opening it he ushered me forward. ‘if someone trys to come in I want you to go in this room theres a enchantment to make you unnoticeable to all’

Glancing at him I clutched tighter. ‘you mean you-you wont be with me?’

Shaking his head he gives me a kiss his hands cupping my face as he explored my mouth his tongue teasing mine slipping in and out in and out till I suckled on it gently making him moan into my mouth. Pulling away he picked me up making me grunt as he lead me to a chair sitting down he held me on his lap. ‘I cant be with you because I will be trying to keep them from getting into here. You have to trust me’

‘no you have to be with me Tanner you cant leave me alone’ I begged as I clutched  closer burying my face in his neck with a whimper. ‘no you have to be with me’

‘I cant’ holding me away he gave me a kiss. ‘I still have to show you one more thing.’ Getting off of him I hung my head as he went into the area he wanted me to. Motioning me to follow I did. ‘Theres a string’ pulling it the door closed. ‘it puts the carpet back into place so they don’t know that theres a door here’ looking around I was quiet shocked to find a bed and a lamp a couple of blankets and pillows.

Taking his hand I led him to the bed. Blinking up at me when I shoved him back onto it I slid onto top as I pressed my lips to his.

‘Sophia this is important’ he muttered against my lips as I trailed little kisses down his neck.

‘Come here when it starts move the carpet and open the door’ I muttered against his skin. ‘come in here and make sure the string is pulled so they don’t know’ I continued as I licked at his neck as I pushed his shirt up to trail my fingers up his chest. ‘please Tanner’

Growling I was shocked when he rolled on top of me his leg slipping between mind nudging them apart as he brushed his hips against me making me arch up moaning.

‘Tanner’

Nuzzling my neck his teeth tested my neck nibbling softly as he ripped the shirt straight down. ‘we shouldn’t be doing this’ he kept muttering as his lips found the curve of my breast sending shocks of heat through me when he unclipped the back of my bra. Tossing it aside he settled back down onto me.  His hands were shaking as he reached into his back pocket. ‘are you sure’

Nodding I unbuckled his pants and left it for him to take them off as I started to push his shirt off. Giving me a tender kiss he slipped away from me standing he shrugged out of his pants and removed his shirt. He had nothing on but his briefs as I felt my legs tremble with anticipation as I unbuckled my pants and slid them off till I was completely naked resting on my elbows I faced him as he crawled back onto me his lips stealing my breath away as he reached between us as he did something. Tossing the empty packet aside I slid my legs around him slightly started when I felt him brush against my woman hood. Trailing kisses down my neck his hands skimmed along my side till one found itself between my legs.

His index finger swirled in me as I jerked my hips off the bed his other arm was around my waist holding me to him as he kissed my neck.

Tanner’s scent and musk filled the room, even as a human I could smell his musk driving my need to the max as I tugged his hair whimpering out as he slid his finger out of me. ‘I love you’ those three words made my heart melt as he slid down my body cocking my legs apart as he looked up at me.

‘I love you too’ I whispered out in a husky voice as I squirmed under the feel of his tongue as he ran it up the slid his lips latching onto me as he suckled softly my legs began to shake and my heart raced as I dug my nails into his back making him growl into my core shaking me with need as I gave a little moan. My heels dug into the bed as I arched seeking his touch. ‘Tanner, I- I need you’ retreating quickly he slid up my body his hips nestled between mine. I could feel the tip slipping into me my walls opening to him. At first it hurt a sharp discomfort as I took him further moving deeper he halted his breathing was labored his lips attacking mine in a breathtaking kiss as he surged forward with a thrust gasping against his lips I squirmed a pinch of pain that was similar to the pain of a paper cut that slowly went away as I let out a whispery breath. Looking up at him I bit my lip as he buried his face in my neck.

Trailing my hands down his back I cupped his butt in my hands making him stir as he looked into my eyes. ‘has it stopped hurting?’

Nodding he gave a great full sigh as he gave me a kiss.

Rolling off of me panting I curled up into his side with a little smile playing on my lips. I had lost my virginity to the man I loved. Propping his head up with one arm the other wrapped around my waist he gave a little sigh. ‘it was worth the wait’

‘I love you Tanner’ peeking up at him he gave me a kiss.

‘I love you to Sophia, I promise I will protect you. There wont be anything to worry about’ hearing a knock on the plank he quickly tossed me his shirt and grabbed his pants as he shoved them on. ‘I’ll be back in a sec’ giving me a quick kiss he left opening the door and walking up the steps.

Laying on my back in a bed that smell of him I felt my heart slowly  beat back in a normal rhythm.

Sophia was with him I could feel Tallon holding most of the pain away from me as I fought Bentley. ‘That little female that half bred had’ he sneered. ‘she’s a good looking bitch’ he gave a harsh laugh as I growled at him jabbing up with a right hook he stumbled back coughing up blood. Spitting the mouthful of blood out he threw his head back and laughed. ‘I’m gonna make her my bitch’ he growled out. ‘I’m going to chain you up and force you to watch me fuck her, I’m going to make you watch me make her beg for more’ he flashed a grin as I lunged at him knocking him back I wrapped an arm around his neck maneuvering  my body under his as he squirmed his hands clawing at my arm as I tightened till his neck made a “pop” throwing his body aside I pulled myself to my full height my heart racing as I sniffed the air.

“Tallon I need you to send the pack members to Tanners, something isn’t right” I ordered to him.

He didn’t answer me but I knew he did as I had asked. Fixing my shirt I ran my hand through my hair as I walked slowly towards my car. Sophia was in danger.

‘so I was right?’ I muttered with a sharp curse as I glanced back at the hatch were my Sophia was. She was mine my scent was all over her in her around her. It brought joy to know I had been the one she had wanted.

‘ya, and Tanner?’ Dustin grunted as he rubbed his nose. ‘Be carful’

Nodding I went back down opening the hatch I found Sophia still in my shirt with her pants on.  Walking to her I pulled her into my arms. ‘I didn’t hurt you to bad did I ?’ shaking her head she gave me a soft kiss on the cheek.

‘no’

Rubbing her side I gave a little groan I didn’t want to leave her I wanted to stay with her like she had asked. I wanted to be able to protect her. ‘I have to go’ clutching my arm Sophia whimpered.

‘no you cant leave yet’

‘I have to’ kissing her she slid off my lap and stood up. ‘I will come back for you, right now you can still roam around, but when things get worst I want you to come here you hear me?’ nodding at me I pulled away and led her out of the hidden place.

Walking down the hall I stopped by our room and opened the door giving a her a final kiss I felt her hand grip my finger tips as my hand slid out of hers. I knew she was scared but she didn’t have anything to fear. I was here to protect her. I was here to keep her safe and I would do just that even if it meant me dying.

Rolling my shoulders I went to the armory and to my closet. Opening it I dropped my pants and slid into the heavy leather pants along with a black shirt and a Kevlar vest. The holsters to my guns was quickly slid on and strapped in place , my belt tight and firm with the short sword in place. Resting my hand on the hilt I rolled my shoulders as I glanced at Dustin who was already dressed in his battle gear.

‘think we’re gonna make it? Ben say’s theres over 300 hunters’ he muttered with a yawn.

‘We can do this like the old days, trackers live for this shit’ I muttered with a grin patting his back I slipped out of the room ready my extra clips in the vest with the arm blade strapped to the front.

‘you haven’t said that word in years brother’

‘come with me’ Jordan instructed. Grunting I got up and put my shoes on as he led me down the hall. Others didn’t seem to notice him.

‘were are we going?’

‘I want you to remember this path ok? Because if they get in here this is were you will go’ he answered firmly as he showed me a brick wall.

‘it’s a wall’

Rolling his eyes he pointed to the 8th on the side’ see that brick right there?’nodding he reached up. Counting over 4 he pressed the brick making the wall shake and open slowly just enough to slip in. ‘come on’ taking my hand he lead me down the black hall.

‘I’m scared’ I whimpered out in fear.

‘no one knows of this besides Tanner, Dustin and I.’ he whispered. ‘theres nothing to be afraid of its just dark here’ taking my hand he put it to the wall. ‘feel the whole way there ok?’

‘ok’

Pausing he held my hand showing me were to feel. ‘that’s the door knob ok? open it like this’ he showed me how to open the door shoving it aside I looked around the forest. ‘you see the trees with the branches broken?’ I nodded again. ‘ok I want you to follow the branches.’ Showing me where to go I stayed close to his side till he stopped walking.

‘I don’t understand why are you showing me this…Tanner said to hid in the one room’

‘I know he said to hid there but I want you to  get out ok? you follow the way I told you’ he showed me a large tree. Kicking the bottom it rattled. Pulling the bark back he revealed the hollow center.. ‘they wont know your here and I or Tanner will come for you ok?’ I whimpered. ‘theres blankets and food and water’

Tears filled my eyes. ‘I’m scared.’

Kissing my forehead he rubbed my back. ‘you don’t have to be scared because we’ll keep you safe now lets get back ok?’ nodding I let him lead me back to the house.

Tucking myself in the chair I wrapped my arms around my legs as I held my breath. The sound of gun fire kept making me jump till in couldn’t take it anymore I wanted Tanner with me I wanted him by my side telling me everything would be alright. I wanted him to be here holding me in his arms and telling me how much he loved me.

‘Sophia’ almost falling out of my chair I looked at Zachary as he walked in breathing heavy. ‘your ok’ he muttered with a groan. Rubbing his face he took a step to me as another gun shot sent chills through me. whimpering tears trickled down my face as I buried my head in my knees.

‘make it stop, make it stop’ I pleaded as I felt him touch the top of my head.

Looking up he ran his fingers through my hair with a sad smile. ‘I’ll make it go away’ he whispered as he pulled away from me. ‘Tanner sent me to tell you its time for you to go into hiding’ he went to leave. Gripping his hand I held it between my shaking fingers.

‘you two will be ok right?’ glancing back he pulled me into a hug.

‘we’ll be alright go hid. This will be over soon’ he whispered to me. I knew I had hurt him but I couldn’t help it.

Nodding he pulled away and left. Glancing around I grabbed a sweatshirt and put my shoes back on. Throwing pajama’s in a bag with fresh undergarments I slung the bag over my shoulder and made my way down the hall as the walls seemed to shake as I found myself near the brick wall. 8th one to the side, 4 over. Hitting it I couldn’t help but whimper as I rested my hand out on the wall letting it trail till I found the door knob jiggling it I opened it and glanced around. Taking off down the path I gave a little scream of shock when something snagged around my neck fear clenched me.
