Chapter 27

:Tanner/Blade/Zachary

Waking up I knew today would be different I couldn’t explain why but as I got dressed I rolled my shoulders and glanced at the calendar that I had started to mark the days of her abduction.  Five weeks. We had came close to tracking the man that had her, that bastard, but we had lost him each time we came close to capturing him. It was frustrating.

‘Your going to ware yourself out Tanner’ glancing up as I walked out of my room I rolled my eyes. ‘eat something’ Lex ordered firmly. Flinching I nodded as she handed me a sandwich. Her hands were on her hips as she glared at me as if she was going to make sure I ate. Groaning I opened it up and took a bit. Chewing she hardened her glare till I had the whole sandwich gone. My stomach accepted it gratefully being the only thing I had eaten for two days.

‘thanks’

‘and Tanner’ she grinned up at me her eyes bright.

‘ya?’

‘Sophia’s in the building east wing looking like a bad ass hunter.’ She muttered slyly. ‘and rumor has it she’s demanding to see you’ my heart picked up and I was breezing past her in a rush. ‘good luck’

I didn’t know if I should trust her, she could be playing a job but I didn’t care if Sophia was here then nothing else mattered. Running I found her quickly her back was too me. my breath caught in my throat as I walked up to her and wrapped my arms around her burying my face in her neck. ‘Sophia’

A chuckle filled the air as she turned in my arms I she hid her eyes from me as she kept her face in my chest. Suddenly a sharp pain filled my chest as I looked down finding her hand tight around a handle of a knife that was buried in my stomach. Blinking as she looked up to me I looked into those cold grey eyes she looked so different as she pulled her knife out of me my blood seeping down her fingers. Glancing down at the wound I covered it with my hand. ‘fool’ her voice cut through my heart and hurt as much as the wound she had dealt to me.

‘I don’t understand Sophia why?’

‘I’m not Sophia’ she answered simply. ‘My name is Cecilia’ She was Sophia her looks her voice, but not her attitude not Sophia…she looked like her but wasn’t her it was like someone had control of my Sophia. I watched her cold glare waver slightly. Glancing down at her hand I watched in shock as the blade slipped out from between her fingers clattering on the ground. Raising her hand to her eyes I watched as her face twisted into a tormented gaze as it jerked back up to me. ‘tanner’ the word slipped out coming in a wavering whimper  till I couldn’t hear her heart no more she gave a scream as she covered her face with her hands stumbling away from me bumping into Bentley the hunter that must have came with her.

Glancing up at him I watched the innocent hurt look leave her eyes. ‘it was too soon to attack’ he whispered to her as he wrapped an arm around her. I couldn’t believe my eyes. What had just happened. ‘come Cecilia lets go back home’

‘I have to finish my job Father will be mad’ she bit out as she went to lung at me.

Tightening an arm around her I gave a growl making him smirk at me. ‘you came against your fathers orders’ he gave her neck a kiss revealing a purple mark his mark on her skin. Growling I lunged at them planning on moving Sophia side only to have him push her behind him. Blinking in shock when he jabbed up with his fist I felt the air rush out of my lungs he chuckled against my ear. ‘you don’t have to worry she’s in good hands in my bed every night’ everything went black but his words echoed through my mind. My Sophia…I had lost her…I failed…

Groaning I looked up at the white ceiling of the infirmary.

‘you don’t have to worry she’s in good hands in my bed every night’ his words…they haunted me clenching my heart bringing tears to my eyes as the door of the room opened.

‘you know brother I never thought I’d see you almost dead.’ Dustin took a seat next to me.

‘wh-what happened?’ I cleared my voice as I tried to sit up. Placing a hand o my chest he stopped me.

‘don’t move you’ll reopen your stitches you’ve already done that five times.’ He warned me. ‘we lost trace of them in the hall were we found you’

‘what happened? Did Bentley and Sophia get away?’ I demanded as I glanced down at the blanket that covered me. pushing it away I groaned a the sight of the white bandages that were covering my chest and stomach.

‘Sophia was gone by the time I got there, and you were’ he gave a sharp curse as he ducked his head. ‘and you were pinned to the wall with your fuckin knife in your shoulder brother, he was about to-’

‘don’t-don’t say anything’ I shake my head not wanting to hear about it. ‘I don’t want to know’

‘the one in your stomach is the worst one.’ He whispered. ‘who did it’

Looking up at him I felt my heart quench. ‘Cecilia’ I muttered.

‘who?’

‘the person who’s controlling Sophia’s body. She told me her name was Cecilia.’ I whispered in a broken voice.

‘you disobeyed my direct order Cecilia’ I hissed out to my ignorant daughter who was glaring up at me.

‘I did what I thought I had to do!’ she snapped back.

Growling I let my hand fly out catching her across the face sending her stumbling  a step or two away from me.  ‘go to your fucking room damn it I don’t want to see your face. Your such a disobedient child Cecilia when will you ever learn to listen to me’ I demanded roughly.

Turning on her heels she stormed away without yelling back at me.

Controlling my breathing I clenched and unclenched my hands. ‘fuck she ruined it’

‘I tried to stop her’ Bentley grumbled as he walked in shaking his head. ‘she wouldn’t listen so I went with her to make sure she wouldn’t crack’

‘and how did she do?’

‘the girl took over first sight of blood from Tanner’ he muttered with a roll of his shoulders. ‘but I got to her in time to reverse the effects and she quickly went back to the same’

I nodded. ‘when this day is over I want her training ok?’ he nodded. ‘good make sure she’s training hard we only have a while longer to wait’

‘very well now I have to go calm her down she’s probably in the training room killing the newest vermin we captured.’ He whined as he left the room quickly.

Sliding my hand through my hair as Lex walked in. ‘hey’ she muttered with a frown as Evan followed. Being cooped up in here for almost a week made me happy to see her and Evan.

‘hey whats up’  I grunted back.

Plopping down she clenched her hands. ‘I failed’ her voice was weak. ‘I couldn’t stop her’ she whispered.

‘what are you-?’

‘I tried to stop them I tried but she attacked Evan-an an I couldn’t stop Bentley and her at the same time’ she hung her head. ‘I’m sorry’

‘look we couldn’t do anything about what happened.’  I muttered as I looked away. ‘it was my fault I got hurt in the first place. I let my guard down and-and I paid for that mistake’

Looking up she glanced at Evan and swayed to him.

‘you two are together right?’ they glanced up at me fear clear in her eyes. ‘I wont say anything just curious’

Glancing between each other Evan nodded slowly. ‘we haven’t told anyone because her family has someone in mind for her to marry, but they haven’t came out with it because they want her to experience life first if the one they have in mind knew about us he’d request a duel for the right to be with her’ he muttered softly. ‘and Lex is afraid that I’d lose’

‘not lose but get hurt’ she muttered with a frown. ‘I don’t want you to get hurt’  she stood up and stuck her hands in her pockets. ‘I’m going for a walk’ she left quietly closing the door behind her.

‘I didn’t mean to upset her’

Looking at me Evan sighed. ‘between you and me I’ll tell you the truth’ he rubbed his face looking worn out and tired. ‘We’re soul mates’ he gave a little chuckle. ‘I know we don’t look and act like it but its because my older brother is the one her parents want to set her up with. When she found out about their plan to get her married she requested to have time to live her life and experience things. we know her parents would accept me as her mate but my brother on the other hand wouldn’t accept the idea of loosing her to me. He likes her and wants her’

‘so you keep it a secret so that no one knows and you two can stay the way you are right?’ he nodded. ‘but what happens when her time runs out and your brother finds out?’

‘then we will fight for her and I will have no other choice but to win because she’s the only thing in this world that gives my life meaning’ he groaned softly.

‘do what you have to do to keep her by your side.’ I smiled at him. ‘besides you have something your brother doesn’t. You have her love and that should help drive you to keep her. When you have someone to protect your strength grows exponentially.’

Nodding he sighed. ‘and Tanner, Melody and Jordan can make her better’ nodding he stood up and patted my shoulder. ‘now I have to go find that crazy lady before she kills something’

Sighing I finally got out of bed. My body took longer to heal because of the silver powder Bentley had laced his blade with. Rolling my shoulders I gave a hiss as I bumped into Charlotte who. ‘help’ falling into my arms I felt something hot and wet seeping into my hand. Rolling her onto her back I looked down at her in shock. The long slice across her stomach was deep enough to were her intestines were coming out.

‘shit’ I glanced around unsure. Who had done this.

Reaching up with a shaky hand she gave a whimper. ‘the baby-the baby’ she whimpered to me as I picked her up.

‘the baby will be ok’ I muttered as I knocked on Doc’s office door.

Opening the door he glanced at me. ‘what happened?’

‘I don’t know but can we help her?’ by now she was slipping in and out I was confident that she was unable to hear me. ‘can we Doc?’

Gulping he nodded slowly. ‘we should be able to follow me’ he led me away down the hall to the OR while he was sending out the message to his helpers to come quickly. ‘put her on the bed and walk out we can prep her and get her ready right now I’ll give you a update’

Nodding I walked away trailing down the hall I had been in when Charlotte had found me I followed the trail of blood to what I had expected. Sophia perched on a stump outside smirking up at me as she picked at her nails. ‘so you caught on’ she chuckled. ‘you’re a smart vermin’ she hopped off the stump. It’s been about a month and a handful of days. My heart swelled with joy for being able to soak in her look she looked good. But I missed the tenderness her eyes once held.

‘What are you doing here Cecilia’ I kept my poker face on. I was not going to let my guard down in front of her again.

‘your wounds are healed’ she began to circle me and I couldn’t help but notice she had no weapons on her and she was dressed in normal pants and a shirt. ‘you’re a quick healer, Bentleys silver powder should have killed you’ she frowned. ‘how did you survive?’

Chuckling I rolled my shoulders. ‘I’m older then you think Cecilia I’m not a fragile as a werewolf is’ I answered sarcastically her nose scrunched up.

‘I forget you beasts have long lives’

‘young people can afford that’  I sighed softly. ‘but what are you doing here’

She walked towards me. ‘you got me in a lot of trouble with father I hope you know’ she grunted out with her brows knitted together. ‘I hope your happy about that beast’

‘you know we’re not that much different before your people attacked my people we weren’t even bothering you so why did you attack?’ I demanded stiffly. ‘what are your plans?’

Chuckling she rolled her eyes. ‘your kind think we hunters are so stupid we know all about the humans your trying to breed with. We cant allow more of you to come into this world we cant let the werewolf’s find their mates’ she said it with such passion it was startling.

‘your a hypocrite’ I grumbled out as I took a step away from her. ‘hybrid’s cant bare children’

Blinking she sighed. ‘you don’t understand’ shaking her head she reached out towards me and I craved that touch but I stepped away swatting her hand away. ‘when you look at me you see someone else don’t you? That Sophia right?’ she snorted. ‘I’m not a hybrid so I cant be her’

‘she wasn’t a hybrid’ I answered stiffly my hands clenched at my sides.

‘then what was she?’

‘she was human’ I watched as she gasped.

‘humans don’t know about you’

‘she was raised by a pack’ I added seconds later. I could talk to her and control myself I just needed to hear her voice, to look into her cold grey eyes.

‘that’s disgusting!’

Rolling my eyes I sighed. ‘what are you still doing here?’ lunging at her I grabbed her arms and pulled them behind her back as she struggled.

‘get your hands off of me you monster!’ her voice shrieked as she kicked and thrashed in my hold. Grunting in pain when she hit the back of her head against my chin I grit my teeth and tightened my hold. Slowly walking towards the house I shoved her against the house facing the wall I let my hand slid down her side checking to see if she had anything hidden cupping her breasts she gave a little growl. ‘get off of me stop! Don’t touch me!’ she shrieked her words ringing in my ears as Dustin came out.

‘wow’ he muttered as he covered his ears.

‘give me your shirt damn it’ I ordered. Doing as he asked he took his shirt of and ripped a good long strip. Tying her wrists together I huffed. ‘I need your belt too’

‘wait no, no belt get your fucking hands off of me you monster! Filthy beast your going to die! What my Boyfriend did to you is nothing! Your going to pay for this’ she hissed.

Snarling in her ear she shrank away from me with a whimper. ‘if you keep your mouth shut I wont kill you’ looking at me with wide eyes I sank down to tie the belt around her legs as I threw her over my shoulder. ‘call Jordan and Melody tell them they ran out of time its now or never’

Glancing over at her as she laid on the bed her hands tied above her head as she sent daggers at me with her eyes. I knew I had caught her off guard I knew I scared her. But I got her back, not the same but I got her back. Walking to her I took the piece of cloth out of her mouth and pushed her short bangs out of her face. She had cut them , what a shame.

‘you know Cecilia glaring at me isn’t going to do anything’ smirking I was alarmed when her hand slid around my throat.

‘you know Tanner I was waiting for you to let your guard down around me’ she growled as she slid her other hand out pushing her back I pinned her down.

‘how’d you get your hands free?’

Smirking she rolled her eyes. ‘hunters are trained from the day they were born Tanner, I was taught how to get free from simple things like that’

‘guess I should of seen that coming’ kneeing me in the groan I gave a little hiss as I tightened my hold on her wrists. Glaring up at me I watched a smirk curl her lips as she changed her attempts pushing her hips off to mine I looked at her with wide eyes. I couldn’t make myself move, I wanted to jump away from her and lock this door to keep her in but I couldn’t make myself move. I couldn’t do it something in me held me maybe because it had been so long sense I’d been able to this close to my Sophia…now Sophia Cecilia.

It was like she could see the conflict in my eyes because she ran the tip of her tongue over the top of her lip her eyes smoky making my heart race when she pushed her hips up once more. Shoving me off I stumbled back as she went for the door. Jiggling it she sent me a glare. ‘locked from the outside?’

I shrugged as she lunged at me throwing a punch I let it happen I wasn’t going to fight her I couldn’t bring myself to harm her even if someone was controlling her it was Sophia’s body. Cornering me I  held her off briefly only to fail when her nail caught my left cheek going all the way down in a scorching heat of pain as blood trickled down my face.

Coughing I felt her fist slam into my old wound that was still held by stitches. Groaning I felt it begin to reopen as blood began to soak my shirt.

‘why wont you fight back’ she slapped my chest with her hand as she glared up at me. Leaning against the wall I wiped my mouth with the back of my hand. ‘why wont you fight damn it’

‘Tanner are you ok?’ I could hear Lex banging on the door making Cecilia glance back. ‘Tanner?!’

‘Don’t open that door till Jordan gets here!’

‘let me come in’ Zachary demanded.

‘you’d be just as weak as me Zach.’ I shot back to him as she looked back at me. Cupping my balls in her hand she gave a squeeze my breath came out as a hiss.

‘tell them to open the door’

‘no’ I grit my teeth as I gripped her wrist. ‘hurt me all you want but I’m not letting you get away this time I lost you once not again.’ I whispered to her as I heard the door open. Glancing over at Zachary he gulped.

‘shit man you look like you’ve been through hell’

Nodding I gave a soft chuckle as I pulled her onto my lap with her arms behind her back holding her to my chest. ‘what can I say, this chick can fight I wonder once everything is done if Sophia will remember any of it’ I muttered as I heard the door lock.

Crossing his arms over his chest he leaned against the door. ‘doll face your staying in here till out witch gets here so be good please because unlike Tanner I will fight back.’ Growling at him he sighed. ‘Tanner if you don’t fight back she will kill you we both know that, and then were would Sophia be? Left with me and we both know she’d be miserable’

Blinking I looked away from him. ‘I cant hurt her Zach don’t ask me to because I wont’

‘I wont fight back’ she announced after a second or two. ‘just let me go’ letting her go she shot up from my lap and cornered herself and eyed us as I laid back on the bed.

‘you know Zach, I said not to come in here’

‘I know I wasn’t going to but Lex threw my ass in here’ he grumbled as he rolled his shoulders.

Tanner gave a grunt of pain as Cecilia shove him up against the wall his wounds were opened as his lip was slip wide open. His blood filled the room.

Growling I lunged at her jerking her back and tossed her off of him. Catching herself she rose to her full height. Smirking at me she held the small pocketknife I had in my pack pocket in her hand waving it at me.

Gritting my teeth I let her make the first move attempting to attack me again. It’d been a hour of her attacking Tanner an he would let me help him partly because he knew I would fight back and use my muscles to get her to settle down but now with him half awake I knew I could handle this my way.

Growling  at her she lunged at me knocking me back pinning me down with one knee putting her weight on my groan rolling her over I knocked the blade away from her and slid my hand around her throat. ‘don’t make me kill you Cecilia, your in the body of someone Tanner wants to keep alive but I wont let her body be used  against us’ I whispered to her, my heart was racing Tallon hated the fact that I was threatening our mate.

Groaning out in pain I rolled onto my back my own blood pooled around me as I forced myself up. Glancing over at Tanner as he began to stir he looked at me with wide eyes. Play dead, play dead you idiot she’ll kill you. I  thought to him but he couldn’t see what I was so clearly thinking.

‘Cecilia’ turning her attention back to him I watched the blade slip out of her fingers.

‘Tanner’ her voice was broken and raw with emotions as he slowly got up.

‘Damn it look at what you’ve done you promised not to fight’ he shakes his head as he stood up . he would barley hold on  I knew he wouldn’t be able to stand much longer till the door open. She didn’t seem to notice her eyes stayed on Tanner.

The look quickly went away from her eyes as she went to lung at him. Grabbing her he held her to his chest as she struggled. ‘Hurry Jordan’ he grunted in pain as he held tight I went to move but I couldn’t find any strength left in me to move.

‘Just a little longer brother’ Jordan grunted out with Melody and Nikko by his side they both looked deep in thought as Melody placed a necklace around Sophia’s neck they kept muttering till her body began to shake violently and the room went dead silent as both Tanner and her fell to the ground in a heap.

I watched as Melody went to pull her away from Tanner his body moved while he was still unconscious his arms tightened around her.

‘he wont let me move her. We have to check his wounds’ Melody frowned.

‘I got them’ Jordan slid his arms around them both and carried them out of the room as Melody turned her attention to me.

‘Look at you bleeding all over the place.’ She tsked at me, Nikko walked towards me and squatted down his hand over my body as his lips moved I couldn’t hear his words as I slowly slid into darkness but I felt my body begin to tremble and tingle all over.

***so three chapters in one day...sort of to make up for the face that i didnt post on friday...so here you go hope you like it***
