Chapter 30

:Zach/Tanner

Pacing back and forth in the room I growled loudly. How could Tanner turn a blind eye to her? She wasn’t the same, Sophia never learned how to move like that never knew how to protect herself. She never had to protect herself because I was there in the background keeping her safe and keeping the bad guys away from her.

Growling I slammed my fist down on the desk making the wood creak in protest. I hated how she kissed him in front of me. not even thinking about how it made me feel. I wanted someone to kill me or even better I wanted Tanner dead. I wanted his blood on my hands I wanted to see it glisten black under the moon lit sky.

Clenching and unclenching my hands as I paced quicker.

‘Tanner come on’ listening closely to the voice that was whining I knew it wasn’t Sophia’s. ‘Tanner look at me’

‘No Charlotte your lucky to even be here still. For what you did to Jordan’ Tanner warned.

‘That human girl is lucky to still be alive I want her dead! Life for a life Tanner. She took my baby from me, she attacked me that was the person!’ this Charlotte screamed. ‘She took life from me! I want her dead’

‘she wasn’t the same Charlotte it wasn’t Sophia’s fault. And I’m warning you if something happens to Sophia I will not hesitate to kill you don’t dare step out of line your walking on the edge now Charlotte no one will stop me because no one wants you here’ Tanner warned as I went to my door and stepped out. Not bothering too look at them I walked briskly donw the hall.

I needed to talk to Sophia, something was different about her she-she hits people now and obviously isn’t a virgin anymore. growling at the thought of Tanner taking away her virginity I wanted to turn around and beat the fuck out of him.

That was my job, she’s my mate I was suppose to be her first.

“well if you hadn’t of ran off to the first female in the first place she’d of been our first as well Zachary.” Tallon reminded me.

“she was ten years old damn it leave me alone”

“do you ever wonder why you were paired with a young woman? Maybe it was because fate knew you’d be a dog, your worst then a hooker they at least get paid for having sex no you slept with every female you could you could never keep your hands to yourself” he hissed to me. “Sophia went to someone who wasn’t like you, Tanner hasn’t been with a woman for many years”

“how is it that you even know this?”

“I have my ways Zachary, but Sophia didn’t want someone like you as a mate. You cheated on her after she was taken. You didn’t help it when you chose to sleep with that girl  one last time before looking for our mate. You left her in a restaurant while you fucked that slut in the car that you made her sit in while you took her home” he hissed. “if you had listened to me in the first place none of this would of happened. Sophia would have been our mate by now we’d of found a way to have children, she’d carry our mark and Tanner never would of came for her but you didn’t listen to me and now look what you have done! You have denied me the one person who was meant to make me whole again.”

“leave me alone” Sophia didn’t know about Bonnie she didn’t know about the things we’ve done’ I whispered to myself. She had to forgive me I’m her mate. The past is the past.

“gladly you have no idea what its like to want to leave you” he snapped back like a child.

‘Lex come on can we just drop it?’ Sophia’s voice carried to me as I paused in my tracks.

‘no now tell me! Please no one will know’ Lex pleaded.

‘well-all right’ Sophia finally caved in. ‘I got rug burn’ I could hear the embarrassment in her voice. ‘but in the end it was worth it…I didn’t know I could do certain things’

‘O I knew it! I knew it’ Lex clapped her hands. ‘so is he like great in bed or ok?’

‘I’d say amazing in bed but…I’ve only been with Tanner. And frankly I don’t want to make love with anyone but Tanner’ Sophia answered soberly making me flinch.

‘hold the phone! Did you just say making love? OMG that’s so fucking cute!’ Lex laughed I could hear them come closer and I took a couple steps back still listening closely. ‘so you guys are gonna be with each other forever right? I mean you two are getting pretty serious and shit’ Lex asked.

‘You make it sound bad that we make love. Tanner says sex is just between to people who have nothing better to do and Making love it between the person you love or hold dear to you. And we love each other and he wants to be with me till I die’ Sophia gave a miserable sigh. ‘it scares me that I wont be by his side for ever I mean I am human after all’

‘I could bite you’ Lex offered softly. ‘I could change you and then you’d be like me and you’d live forever and you’d be able to be with Tanner’

‘ya but then I’d out live him’ Sophia grumbled. ‘I cant win damn it anyways you got me off track’ she snapped. ‘remember how I told you Zach was telling Tanner to back down?’ Lex grunted in reply. ‘I did something I wouldn’t usually do, I attacked Zach to get him off Tanner it was like someone was telling me what to do and how to do it. I have to admit it was quiet a rush because I stood up to a werewolf but it was scary…and not to mention when I threatened you’

‘eh maybe instincts are kicking in Sofa’ Lex was coming closer. ‘but wait here I have to check something’ turning I went to leave only to be shoved against the wall.

‘Lex’ I greeted through clenched teeth.

‘dick face’ she smiled at me flashing her fangs ‘ease dropping are we? That’s not nice’ she tsked me. ‘I don’t know what your up to but stay away from Sophia’ she dug her nails into my skin before she withdrew them and took a step back. ‘Sophia look who was trying to scare us!’ she called out making Sophia come to check. Glancing at me Sophia quickly looked away.

Hurt filled me as I remembered dinner time. She and Tanner had flirted the whole damn time all but fucked in front of us all. Showing no shame in their actions. ‘Zach’ she bit out through her lips that were in a straight line her eyes narrowed studying me. ‘come on Lex,  Evan and Tanner are waiting for us. I don’t know about you but I know he’s gonna teach me a lesson if I’m not there in time’

‘not that you’d mind some more rug burn maybe I’ll buy you some knee pads’ Lex teased sarcastically.

Shoving me , Lex and her  both passed by me.

‘come on we both know you two have been shagging like fucking rabbits. I’m surprised you haven’t popped out a mini Sophia or mini Tanner’

‘we’re carful something I think you should take into consideration we don’t need any mini Lex’s running around’ Sophia whispered in a hushed tone

‘hey I am a dying bred! There isn’t any cool people like me around maybe I should have two or there mini me’s’ Lex teased right back.

‘No, no we don’t need more Lex’s I can barley handle your crazy butt.’ Sophia grumbled. ‘Anyways what movie did you say we were gonna see? Tanner said you picked it’

‘he’s still alive Tanner’ Jordan growled out to me as he paced back in forth in my study.

‘how is it even possible didn’t you smash his face in?’ I grumbled with a groan my head hurt. How was Blade still alive. ‘Once your dead your dead’

‘that’s what I thought! Fuck!’ Jordan wheeled around and slammed his fist into the wall. ‘This shit shouldn’t be happening why did he take Sophia?’

‘ Cecilia was the spirit of his daughter someone he let live.’ I muttered as I ran my hand through my hair. ‘why would a werewolf be a hunter?’

‘why would our own kind turn against us?!’ he threw his hands up before he paused. ‘fuck maybe they had spirits in them too stopping them from thinking for themselves.’ He glanced at me with wild eyes. ‘Tanner I stand by your side even when you don’t make sense will you do the same for me brother?’

Grinning I nodded. ‘hell ya Jordan what do  you take me for? I’ve always had your back’

Nodding he cracked his knuckles. ‘may want to tell Sophia you have a business trip I’ll get Nikko we’re going to try and break a spell on one of their men if it doesn’t work then their just doing it on their own but.’ He hold up a finger. ‘if it’s a spell we may have a upper hand on the bastard and we can end this once and for all’

‘very well’

‘you cant go!’ Sophia whined as she locked her arms around my waist. ‘I wont let you! We’ve never been separated this long’ she whispered into my chest.

‘its only three days, Darcy is here and Lex and Evan’  I combed my fingers through her hair.

‘that’s not the point babe I don’t want you to go’ she pouted. ‘what if something happens when your gone?’

‘then I want you to go to the room I showed you and to hid with Lex and Evan with you’ I answered softly. ‘but that wont happen you hear me? nothing will happen its just three days’

‘I’m gonna miss you’ looking up at me I placed a kiss on her lips.

‘so am I, I wish I didn’t have to go away but I do. I’ll come back to you’ nodding she gave a little sigh as she pulled away from me to sit on the bed. ‘I’ll bring you a present on my way back ok?’ her eyes lit up.

‘the only present I want is you coming back unharmed’ she whispered softly. ‘if you come back hurt I’m going to be upset’ she warned me with narrow eyes. ‘so you better just be going on a business trip. Anyways why cant I get to go Nikko and Jordan get to tag along’ she pouted like a child. ‘its not fair’

Chuckling I packed a small bag with a shrug. ‘Sophia look at me’ she glanced at me and scowled. ‘Nikko is a powerful witch that has to ensure we cant get traced back here, Jordan is protecting me so I cant get hurt. You cant come because I still don’t trust the people I’m doing business with ok? trust me you wouldn’t like these people’

Tears welded up in her eyes. Fear tickled my nose, shit maybe I shouldn’t of said that now she’s scared.. ‘You mean its dangerous were your going?!’ I shake my head no. ‘don’t lie to me Tanner’

‘Yes’ I admitted after a minute.

She gave a whimper. ‘Tanner you said this was business’

‘Nothings going to happen to him’ glancing at the door she glared at Zach. ‘I’ll be protecting him’

‘Ya we all see how you treat him’ she sneered with a sudden venom walking to me she held me tight I couldn’t help but hug her back she was worried for me and it touched me to know she was so upset. ‘holding him by the throat against a mirror is not what I would call reassuring. Cant Dustin go with you?’ she looked up at me with a frown.

Shaking my head I gave her a kiss. ‘no he’s staying here to keep an eye on every one three days only two nights’

‘you mean I have that big bed all to myself?’ she stuck out her bottom lip. ‘its going to be lonely without you in it with me to keep me warm’ kissing the top of her head I slung the bag over my shoulder as I pulled away from her.

‘make dew have Lex come watch a movie with you I’ll be back in no time really’

‘Evan can go with you!’ grabbed my jacket and handed it to me. ‘and what am I going to say to the people at school?’ I shrugged sending her a wink as I took the jacket.

‘I’ve already got the bad boy rep don’t bother saying anything the teachers wont miss me’ kissing her I slipped past Zach. ‘come on we’re late Jordan and Nikko are going to be pissed. So I left her in our room outing and whining about me leaving.

‘this better be good Jordan Sophia’s already mad at me for leaving’ I grumbled to him as we spilled into the mini van. Yes a mini van partly because it worked well blended in and had a slid door easy to push it open and to grab someone. We had our eyes set on Julia a young hunter who was sighted near our lands again. My guess was that Blade had sent her to recapture Sophia but after the day we got her back I’ve tightened security trip lines and sensors are all over the grounds making sure that no body can get in without signaling me first.

‘She was really pissed I’m guessing’ Jordan sighed as he glanced back at me. ‘I told you to tell her it was just business’

‘I know but I let it slip that it was dangerous now she’s worried about me’ I sighed deeply. ‘I cant lie to her Jordan I had to tell her the truth’

‘don’t speak of telling her the truth when you haven’t even told her that she was possessed by a Hunters spirit’ Zach snapped at me as he took the passenger seat. ‘Sophia has a right to know’

‘her knowing would tear her to pieces dumb ass. Sophia was devastated about it, even thought she thinks it was a dream she was devastated she wanted me to fight back. I cant hurt her damn it I cant tell her that it was all true’

‘its better that she knows though instead of wondering were all those moves are coming from’ he shot back.

‘DAMN IT ENOUGH!’ Jordan slammed his fist down on the steering wheel as he glared between us. ‘so help me god Zach if you don’t shut up about that I will pull over and throw your ass out. We didn’t ask you to come you volunteered to come’ he growled out.

Huffing Zach nodded slowly. ‘Fine, I’m just saying Sophia shouldn’t be left in the dark. She has a right to know what happened and that she was the one who hurt Tanner, me and Charlotte’

‘Sophia didn’t hurt us Cecilia did’ I whispered softly. ‘Sophia herself didn’t do anything to us Cecilia was in control of her body. The only reason Cecilia attacked Charlotte was because she wanted to bring me to her’ I looked at Jordan. ‘its my fault that Charlotte lost the baby’

‘it was no one’s fault but Charlottes she was ordered to stay in her room she went outside the blame is on her and her alone’ Jordan ground out through clenched teeth his hands tightened on the steering wheel.

‘He does have a point I order her to stay in her room away from the guests she obeyed a direct order. And I never to direct order but when I do I expect them to listen to me’

‘I thought you said this is nothing like a pack? Sounds like it to me everyone views you as a Alpha wolf’ Zach smirked at me with narrow eyes.

‘I’m just a leader to them, Jordan once she is healed I will punish her I hope you know that I cant show favoritism the others will demanded it’ I whispered as I stretched out in the chair.

‘very well’

‘You know I could just cast another spell on her to bring her to us.’ Nikko offered.

I glanced at  him an nodded. ‘that’d be great I’m sort of put out. I miss Sophia I just want to get this over with.’

Growling as I gripped the girl to my chest she wasn’t moving anymore only whimpering as Nikko and Jordan whispered to themselves trying to break a spell that could or couldn’t be there. Suddenly her body went lip and I let her slid down my body and onto the floor in a heap.

‘deal with it’ I grumbled to Zach as I switched places with him and sat down. Stretching out I cracked my knuckles.

‘I was right’ Nikko grumbled as he picked the girl up and pushed her hair out of her face.

‘where am I?’ glancing back at Julia her voice faltered as she looked up at Nikko. The intensity of their gaze was alarming something only mates would do when they first met. ‘Hey’ a soft blush seeped into her cheeks as he suddenly held her tight to his chest.

‘well didn’t expect that’ Jordan backed away with the duck taped tucked behind his back. ‘Tanner what are we gonna do with her’

‘whatever  he wants to do with her’ I waved them off. My mind wondering to Sophia, I wonder what she’s doing right now? Probably sleeping or watching TV. Chuckling at the thought I rubbed my face. Maybe I should of shown her how to fix the TV if she hit the wrong button.  Groaning at the thought of her breaking it I felt a smirk slid over my lips. She was so damn cute.

‘whats got you smiling like a idiot?’ glancing at Zach I shrugged.

‘Sophia most likely’ Jordan mumbled softly.

I glanced at him a raised an eyebrow I still couldn’t get the smirk off of my face as I thought about how upset she’d get if it “broke” on her.

‘What do you mean Sophia’ Zach demanded through narrowed eyes.

‘What I mean is he’s most likely thinking about Sophia, they are in love you know’ Jordan muttered as he slid into the chair next to me. ‘I mean when me and Charlotte were still together I’d grin like a idiot just thinking about her. Wonder what he’s thinking’ he muttered curiously as I glanced at him.

‘Sophia doesn’t really know how to fully operate a the TV and she always hits the wrong button that turns off the dish. I was just thinking that I should have showed her one more time but then again she’d probably end up doing the same thing again’ I chuckled as he smiled back at him.

‘Mine’ Nikko growled out as I glanced towards Julia and him he had her pushed behind him as Zach walked towards them. ‘Back away.’

Julia whimpered out in fear, she was  half bred like me and Jordan. ‘Nikko’ she whimpered out in fear as she gripped his arm. ‘Nikko I’m scared.’

Nikko of course feeling the need to protect his mate was ready to attack Zach and I didn’t feel like explaining to Sophia why he didn’t come back alive.

‘Zach leave them alone she’s not a threat anymore just like Sophia’

He sent me a glare. ‘no threat? Sophia is still acting strange.’

‘she’s just got some memories is all nothing major its good that she’s getting a back bone and some spunk. Its sort of sexy’ I admitted thoughtfully.

Growling out at me he took a step towards me. ‘don’t speak about my mate like that’

‘a mate that rejected you Zachary Sophia chose Tanner not you so I don’t see why you keep trying.’ Jordan put in after a second of glancing at him. ‘Let her be happy, your only going to make her hate you in the end with the way you are acting. Sophia doesn’t like seeing Tanner hurt and you seen what she did to you for pushing him up against the mirror. Imagine what she could do next time its clear that a part of Cecilia’s soul is lingering in her body helping her almost coaching her to do things that she doesn’t know how to do. It may not end well with you if Sophia does something more rash’

‘Sophia wouldn’t hurt me, I’m her mate’ he answered stiffly.

‘she did hurt you she attacked you because you attacked Tanner. Sophia wont stand by and watch anymore she’s got a hidden power in her to help her with her self control and confidence now. Maybe it’s a blessing that a part of Cecilia’s soul lingers in her it may help her stay safe while Tanner is away on trips.’ Jordan muttered.

‘Sophia wont be here long’ Zach warned.

I kept my mouth shut not bothering to listen to him or Jordan their voices zeroing out as I continued to think of my Sophia. Jordan was right it was a good thing a part of Cecilia’s  soul lingers in her.
