Chapter 8

:Zachary/Tanner

Panic consumed me as I paced my room. The small fur ball of a dog that Darcy got Sophia laid on her bag whimpering and whining as she looked at the door.

She was safe she was alive. For now that was. What if that Tanner guy killed her? What if he hurt her? What if he molested her and raped her.

Groaning I sat on the bed I didn’t think my time with my mate would be so short. After seven years of waiting I finally had her. But now she was gone. With a hybrid that claimed to be good. My innocent mate was to naive to see the danger she was in. My wolf howled out in pain in my  head his empty howls echoing through my thoughts as I felt my heart twisted.

Vivid images filled my mind as I looked through her eyes. She was looking up at him, her hurt emotions filling my body making my heart ach as I watched her I could hear her words in my head. ‘I don’t want to hear this’ she whispered to the guy. ‘Tanner I don’t want to hear this’ she repeated again.

‘I have to let you know you cant just be clueless to his past’ he answered Tanner. His eyes locked on Sophia as he touched her cheek. It was as if I was suddenly standing in the room beside them watching it in horror  as she leaned into his touch her eyes slowly closing as I felt her body get warmed by his touch. She liked it, the  way her lips parted as she let out a little content sigh. Trying to look away I found myself unable to move.

“this is what you drove my mate to, this is what you caused my mate to do.” Tallon growled in pain as he gave a whimper. “she yearns for love and affection and now she’s getting it from that man, when it should be me in his place making her sigh, when it should be me holding her in my arms.” His voice began to weaken in my head. “If you had let me of had her when I wanted this wouldn’t of happen”

“She doesn’t love him” I answered softly.

“as you didn’t grow to love Bonnie over time? Do not lie to me Zachary, you loved that thing even though you belonged to another” he warned with a deep growl.

“I love Sophia”

“so much that you let Drake get away with hurting her. Physically hurt her, go to Nel” he demanded making me shiver.

Knocking on her door I sighed when she opened it looking up at me she raised an eyebrow. ‘Zachary, shouldn’t you be out looking for your mate?’

‘You know something’ I answered bluntly as the little fur ball growled and barked at her. Glancing down she jumped back with a growl. ‘It’s a fur ball’

‘what is it?’

‘Sophia’s dog, Darcy gave her the mutt now were is my mate? My wolf knows you know something Nel’ I demanded.

‘I don’t know what you mean’ she answered quickly to quickly.

‘you know something damn it. Where is my mate?! And who the fuck is Tanner?’

Flinching she stepped away.

‘I’m not asking anymore I’m demanding that you tell me who he is’ I growled out in my Alpha tone making her whimper.

‘He’s a Hybrid that saves the omegas in packs and other hybrids in need’ she whispered out in fear.

‘how would you know this?’

Looking up she shakes her head no.

‘Nel tell me now.’ I grit my teeth as the mutt growled again.

‘I came across one of his men at the store I could smell the hybrid on him and…and I asked him a question. He had to tell me because I’m I mean I was the Alpha female. He had just taken a Omega from a abusive pack.’ She whispered softly. 'Drake hit her once, next time I didn’t know what he would do I couldn’t take it any more. I had to do something for her! You didn’t love her! You left her alone for seven years with us to keep your secret. I did it for her safety’ she screamed at me with tears in her eyes. ‘you didn’t love her, you had Bonnie in your bed every night till the day you found her in the hospital and you lied to her. You lied about not being with anyone in months. Bonnie’s scent was all over you the day you went to the hospital to confront Drake’ she growled out. ‘she didn’t deserve that not after waiting for seven years for you. Tanner did her a favor by taking her away from you’ growling I slammed my fist into the wall making a large hole.

‘You bitch! You had my mate stolen because you thought you where doing good? Do you know what Hybrids are like?’ I hissed out in rage.

Whining the mutt whimpered in fear.

‘my mate’

‘That you cheated on, the night you found her in the rain you had just been with Bonnie because you weren’t able to hold you wolf back. You lied to Sophia. She’s a sweet innocent girl and you a heartless bastard. You could have been with her if you weren’t so pig headed. The pack would of protected her. She was ready for you when she turned 15. Instead she was alone for seven years with Drake telling her things that made her cry every night.’ She whispered in a hoarse voice.

Blinking I looked away. ‘How can I get her back?’

‘I don’t know Tanner didn’t say where the place was it’s a safe heaven to those in need. It’s a secret he only comes to those who need it’ she answered softly. ‘If she’s lucky she can go into the real world and start a life with friends and have a family’

‘She’s mine, my mate my Sophia! She’s meant to be with me’

‘would you have her never to hold her own flesh and blood from her own body?’ she asked roughly. ‘Sophia wants children’

‘Werewolfs and humans can-can have children’

Looking away she shakes her head. ‘Only when a vampire puts a curse on the couple. That’s when they have a child of both worlds like Tanner.’ Shaking her head she sighed. ‘And the necklace that Darcy gave her is one that blocks curses like that. Sophia would never have children with you Zachary do her a favor and let her go’

‘I cant let her go when I just got her’ I whispered with tears in my eyes. ‘she’s my mate I love her’

‘If you loved her you’d let her go. Just let her go’

‘I wont let that hybrid have her she’s my mate I love my mate’ I growled out as the mutt whined again.

Shaking her head she sighed. ‘you still don’t understand…’

‘I understand that you’re the reason Sophia isn’t by my side at the moment’ I answered roughly as I turned on my heels and left. Clenching my hands I gave a deep hiss as I looked over at Brice and Taylor. They didn’t see me, well I assumed they didn’t by the way they were embraced their arms locked around each other as Brice the shortest rested his head on Taylors chest. Looking away I was consumed with envy they had each other. And I-I had no one. No mate by my side.

Sighing I ran my hand through my hair.

‘Tanner?’ grunting I rolled over in bed as the blankets were jerked away from me making me shiver. ‘Tanner get up’ groaning I opened my eyes and looked up at Sophia. ‘Someones at the door Tanner’ she answered as she shoved me out of bed hitting the floor I pulled her along with me making her land on  me. ‘Tanner’ she whined with a pout as I gave her a kiss.

Blushing she squirmed to sit up. Sighing she scowled down at me. ‘Don’t look so mad’ sitting up I went to give her a kiss.

‘Tanner stop theres a lady at the door who looks really mad to see me in here’ she muttered as she stood up. Fixing her shirt I gave a groan as I stood up. Walking to the door I opened it as Jane stormed in yelling at me.

‘You have a woman in your room! In your shirt! What about your vows? What about the church?!’ she screamed at me.

‘My vows mean nothing now. Leave’ growling she went to swing at me making Sophia give a yelp as she jerked me back.

‘DON’T hit him’ she whined as she locked her arms around my waist as she glared at Jane.

Growling Jane glared at me.

‘You cant hit him’ Sophia muttered softly as she sent Jane a glare that could kill.

‘human’ Jane grunted out with a scoff. ‘I could eat you for breakfast’

‘My m-’

‘Over my dead body you will’ I answered coldly sending her a glare. Glancing between us she smirked.

‘so you finally realized a male cant stay single and untouched for ever’ turning on her heels she left quietly.

‘What did she mean by vows?’ glancing at Sophia I shrugged.

‘nothing she’s just talking shit, I’ll be right back’ moving away from her I locked myself in the bathroom with a deep groan. Rubbing my face I glanced at the door. Sophia, Sophia, Sophia you little trouble maker. I thought with a sigh. She was tying me up into knots without even noticing what she was doing to me. flushing the toilet to make her think otherwise I unlocked the door. Walking out of the bathroom I found her halfway under the bed.  ‘Ummm…what are you doing?’ grunting her feet wiggled. ‘Sophia?’

Hearing  a meow she came out with a fur ball. ‘A kitty’ she answered as she offered the lump of fur to me. Its bright blue eyes looking everywhere but me. ‘Is he yours?’

‘I don’t like cats’

Frowning she held the cat close. ‘But he’s so cute! I think he’s a little blind though-he ran into the wall twice’ she frowned. ‘can I keep him?’

But I don’t like cats. I thought with a sigh. ‘I don’t know he ay already belong to someone Sophia’ frowning she stuck her bottom lip out with a pout.

‘o’

Nodding she sighed.

‘then take him’ handing the thing to me it gave a hiss as I clawed at my hand. Jerking my hand back it fell to the ground with a thump. Whining the cat began to meow and wonder around aimlessly as it walked into the chair. ‘o dear’ she groaned as she walked to the cat. Picking It up she held it to her chest. ‘poor little guy’

Groaning I licked my bloody fingers. ‘not poor little thing it attacked my hands.’

‘your alive’ glancing at my hand she kissed the fingers. ‘I’m hungry can we get something to eat?’ nodding she went to bring the cat.

‘put that thing down? Get some pants on by the way’ blushing she nodded as she sat the cat on the bed.

‘you stay right there I’ll change.’

Watching her sway to the music I felt my heart race as her hips move seductively it was hard to believe that she was a virgin with the way her body moved to the beat of the music. Glancing at me she motioned me to come to her. Shaking my head I smiled. ‘na’

Pouting I finally got up when she pulled me to her dancing with her I found it hard not to moan as she pressed her body into mine. Soaking in her warmth we stopped dancing when I leaned in to her pressing my lips against hers I tightened my  arms around her. Licking her lips I felt myself sink into temptation as I leaned into her. Pressing my lips to hers I felt her lips part with a little sigh slipping my tongue in I felt her respond slightly by timidly touching her tongue with mine. Groaning deeply I held her tightly as I swept her into a passionate kiss that had her clinging to me for support. Feeling her knees give way I held her tighter pressing her body against mine  holding her up to me.

Pulling back I brushed my lips against hers gently.

‘Joel’ groaning I rested my forehead to hers. ‘how old are you?’

Blinking I pulled away from her.  ‘ I’m 19 and your 17 right?’ nodding she smiled.

‘what happened to you family?’

Flinching I chewed the thoughts I had. ‘honestly do you want to know?’ nodding I bit my lip. ‘I hope it doesn’t change how you think of me now.’ Taking a deep breath I sighed. ‘I killed them’

Blinking she gave a soft whimper. ‘why?’

Puling away from her I showed her my wrists. ‘they did this to me Sophia. My mom had a one night stand with a male from the pack near by she didn’t know they were a werewolf, but when I was born she knew something was different because of my eyes’ letting them turn to black. ‘she seen my eyes and knew I wasn’t human. When I was five she dragged me into the bathroom and sliced my wrists, I couldn’t do anything because I didn’t know about my powers so I couldn’t do anything. She turned the water on and stuck my wrists into the water. Ben found me and somehow I don’t remember much but it was cold.’ I answered as she listened to me tell my story. ‘when I turned 13 I knew what power I had that’s when I made my move. I took her life for trying to take mine’

Glancing at her I found her chewing on her bottom lip. ‘so you never met your father?’ shrugging I sighed.

‘no I never met him.’

‘when-when did you start taking in people?’ she asked after a second.

‘Ben had been taking in people here and there when he picked me up we had seven people. I started to help when I turned 10 with my blood I was progressing faster then normal.’  Pulling her to the couch I settled her on my lap facing me.

Trailing her fingers over my shoulders I watched her as she thought of her next question. ‘do you know who’s killing the mates?’

‘I don’t know who they are, I keep my people safe and that’s all that matters. Full breed’s don’t care about us Sophia so I don’t see why we should care about them now if they attacked my people I would act fast. But no I don’t know who they are.’ I answered as she brushed her fingers over my lips.

‘so we’re both orphans’ she gave a sad smile. ‘we have something in common’  she gave a soft laugh as she leaned closer to me. ‘I was embarrassed’ she whispered suddenly.

‘about what?’

‘when I found out Zachary was my mate, I felt embarrassed because he knew so much an-and I didn’t know anything…I’m so inexperienced  and he’s so well I assumed he has a past.’ She sucked in a flustered little breath. ‘an now…I still feel useless because I cant do things that other girls do’ she whispered softly.

Cupping her face I pressed my lips to hers. ‘you don’t have to know anything, what other girls do with their bodies it doesn’t mean jack. You being untouched is something special now in days. I’m not the type of guy to look down on that. You should have pride in yourself that you still have your virginity. When you told me I didn’t believe you because most girls lie. But I know your not now’ taking a breath I smiled at her. ‘I haven’t touched a woman like I have with you for five years Sophia. I took a vow of celibacy because I didn’t want to risk bringing a child like me into a world filled with hate’

Blinking her eyes widened. She didn’t say anything just watched me as I watched her. I liked how she wasn’t so afraid anymore. I liked how she responded to my kisses with her own. Hell I thought it was sexy with the soft little noises she’d make when we’d kiss or how she gasped each time I’d pin her down.

‘its getting late I think you should get some sleep’ nodding I watched her get up and move to the bed.

‘your not going to sleep?’ she asked as she pulled the covers back.

‘paperwork sweetheart. I’ll join you later on in the night if you’d like’ nodding she smiled as I walked to her kissing her forehead I pulled the covers up to her chin. Dimming the lights I closed the curtains and turned my lamp on near my desk. Grabbing my pen I began to comb through my papers looking for the bills that needed to be paid soon.
