Groaning I went to move. But I found it hard to move as I felt something on me shift with me, with a groan that made me jump. My eyes snapped open as I looked at Sophia’s sleeping face. Glancing down at us I realized our bodies had found each other during the night. Her body nestled right on top of mine with her arms curled to her chest as she gave a yawn. Rolling off she kept her back to my side.

Letting out my breath I smiled. It was nice to wake up to someone by my side. Rolling onto my side I slid my arm around her pulling her to my chest. She didn’t protest. But maybe it was because she was brain dead at the moment giving a cute little snore she squirmed till I could barely hold myself still.

I wanted to let her go right away because I didn’t want to scare her with my problem. But I knew if I let her go and moved away she’d wake up and freak out.

Groaning I stayed perfectly still as she turned to face me still sleeping.

‘Tanner you smell good’ she muttered with closed eyes her words slurred. ‘I’m going to be late for school’

Raising an eyebrow I waited for her eyes to open. But they never did instead she groaned and pressed her face into my chest.

‘Zachary?’ she groaned suddenly with a whimper. Feeling a sting from that I rolled away from her and got out of bed. Going to the bathroom I locked the door  having the need to relieve myself. Flushing the toilet I pulled the rest of my clothes off and hopped in the shower.

I knew her mate would always be on her mind in one way or another but I couldn’t explain why it hurt to hear her whimper his name out. Sighing I ran my hands through my hair with a deep growl.

‘Tanner I have to pee’ hearing her voice I shut the water off and stepped out. Wrapping a towel around my waist I unlocked the door and stepped out letting her in I slid in past her. ‘thanks’ closing the door I dried off and dropped the towel. Pulling out a fresh set of clothes I slid into them. Adjusting the string to the sweats I rolled my shoulders as I pushed the sleeves to my up to my elbows. She walked to the bed and fell right on it making the mattress creak under her sudden weight

‘Sophia?’ moaning she peeked up at me. ‘Are you ok?’

‘I don’t feel good’ she muttered as she curled up onto her side. ‘whys it so cold in here’ frowning I walked to her and sat next to her. Touching her forehead I found it cold to the touch.

‘comere’ pulling her onto my lap she curled up into a tight ball her body shaking slightly as she clung close.

‘your so warm’ she muttered as she cuddled closer.

‘not really’ shaking her head I pulled the blankets up around her as I cradled her. Groaning she gave a shudder when I went to lay her down. ‘I’m going to go get our doctor to come look at you ok?’ whimpering her lips quivered. ‘I’ll be right back.’

Walking back into the room with Ben behind me I opened the door and showed him in. Finding Sophia over the vent with all the blankets and pillows around her. ‘Sophia?’ looking up at me she grunted. ‘I don’t know whats wrong with her she was ok last night. But just a while ago she was shaking and complaining  that she wasn’t feeling good’

Nodding he squatted down in front of her with a thermometer in hand. Opening her mouth he slipped it under her tongue. Keeping her mouth shut she waited as I pulled it out. ‘well her temp is normal, has this ever happened before?’ shaking her head she glanced at me. nodding he stood up. ‘It could be time for you period my wife gets like that when she’s about to start’

Blushing she shakes her head. ‘that cant be I had mine already’ she answered as she kept her gaze away from me.

Nodding he sighed. ‘probably just a 24 hour flu nothing much’ walking past me I followed. Closing the door he sighed. ‘its not the flu.’ Raising an eyebrow he sighed. ‘it means her mate is with a female, it never bothered her before because she hadn’t laid eyes on him hadn’t made any some connection to him of any sort. But now that she knows about him, now she knows that she has a mate knows that she has him she’s feeling the effects of his actions now. Sense she’s not a werewolf she doesn’t feel the pain of  it happening, but it still effects her we’ve never heard of a werewolf finding a mate in a human before its never been seen. She’s I mean their a first time for our people. Hell your kind still make us curious’ he whispered.

Clenching my hands I nodded. ‘she’s not even gone for three days and he’s back to his habits’ shaking my head I walked back into the room. Walking to her I pulled her blankets back. Sitting next to her I pulled her onto my lap.

‘Tanner?’  grunting in reply I rubbed her back feeling sorry for her. ‘How long will it be till I can go back home?’ she talked of home, of a pack that made her feel unwelcome not long ago she was going to be homeless or so Nel had told me. She wanted her mate but yet she was still upset with him, I wanted to tell her of him but I didn’t want to hurt her.

‘this is your home now Sophia’

‘Zachary will-will go back to being a cheater’ she whispered softly. ‘I know he will, I have to go back’  she pleaded softly with a frown the tone of her voice dipping and quivering.

Shaking my head I sighed. ‘don’t you like being with me?’ nodding she bit her lip. ‘then stay, because even if you were with him someone like him would always go back to his past he would do it even if you were with him Sophia’

Blinking she looked down.

‘I’m sorry’ shrugging she just laid her forehead on my chest the shaking stopped. Tipping her chin up I gave her a kiss, smiling when she responded slowly her sweet lips brushing over my lips with hers, her fingers clutching my shirt in tight fists. Pulling back from the kiss she looked up at me with curious eyes.

‘why, why do you kiss me like that?’ she asked suddenly. ‘why do you kiss me like you care?’ she demanded with a waver in her voice.

‘I don’t understand.’  Shaking my head I gulped.

‘its like, its like you like me like a mate does but that doesn’t make any sense’ she muttered with a frown. ‘and I don’t know why I act the way I do around you…its like I’m drawn to you’

‘I told you I want you, you’re an attractive girl Sophia’ I answered to her confidently.

‘you find me attractive?’ she muttered to herself. ‘but I’m human’

‘so am I, well half that is’ I answered with a chuckle.

‘but even then’ she answered with a blush. Shrugging I pulled her back to me to kiss her. ‘Tanner’

‘let me hold you Sophia, let me care for you’

Blinking she bit her lip. ‘what?’

‘Let me hold you without having to answer why I do what I do. I just do it because it feels right its been five years sense I’ve held a woman like I hold you and I’ve forgotten what its like.’ I answered as I pushed her bangs away. ‘lets move to the bed my butt went num’ nodding she slid off with the blankets wrapped around her shoulders.

Blushing as I got up I followed her to the bed. Piling up the pillows I sat down with her tucked next to my side. ‘its not that cold anymore with you here’ she muttered softly. Smiling I wrapped my arm around her waist.

‘that’s good’

‘it was really cold, and-and I couldn’t see anything’ she confessed with a shudder. ‘it was so dark’

‘what do you mean you couldn’t see anything?’

‘it was-it was like the lights were turned off and I couldn’t see. But I heard the air coming from the vent and I knew it was by the window that’s why I went there.’ She whispered softly.

Tracing a doodle on her stomach I nodded. ‘I don’t know what to say about that Ben said you weren’t running a fever, maybe it is just a bug that you caught. It will probably go away soon’

Looking at me she wiggled around. ‘its strange…that up till now I’d never been alone with a guy’ she blushed. ‘the alpha use to keep a close eye on me when I was home. The females of the pack hated me, they never said it but I knew...I could almost feel it.’ She sighed. ‘I don’t know what to do with how I feel or how to understand what you do to me, or what he did to me’ she paused and glanced up at me. ‘I get all warm inside and-and I want something but I don’t know what I want’ she confessed as she put her hands on my chest. Flipping her hair out of the way I watched her as she leaned close to me her eyes on my lips. ‘I like how you make me feel but it scares me…’

Leaning down her lips touched mine making me shiver in anticipation as I held myself still letting her brush her lips against mine once, twice, a third time. Pausing she pulled back and bit her bottom lip.

‘am-am I doing this right?’

Blinking I nodded slowly. ‘ya’ my voice coming out scratchy dying off quickly. ‘your doing it right, but I thought you wanted to wait till you at least knew me better’ I added after I cleared my throat.

Blushing she kissed me again pressing her lips more firmer to mine till her hands cupped my face.

Blushing she scrambled off of me minutes later panting she fell off the bed with wide eyes. ‘I-I don’t know what came over me’ she stammered out with wide eyes as she bolted for the bathroom slamming the door I felt my heart slow down as I glanced down at my bare chest. I hadn’t noticed she had taken it off while we were kissing. Hell I hadn’t noticed I was so hard till she started to grind against me as she gave out those kitten like sounds of pleasure. I knew she wanted something but I never took control I let her explore the world of intimacy with me, I let her control the pace and control what we did.

Gulping I pushed myself off the bed as I walked to the bathroom. Knocking on the door she grunted softly from behind. ‘Sophia open the door dear’

‘I’m-I’m in the shower’ she answered in a shaky voice.

‘the water isn’t running open the door Sophia’

Hearing the door unlock she opened it slowly her lips puffy from our kiss her hair ruffled. ‘I didn’t-I didn’t mean to act like I did’ she muttered softly. Pulling her to me I gave her a kiss on the forehead.

‘I think you did and I don’t mind. I didn’t stop you did I?’ I asked her with a cocky smile. ‘don’t be shy’

Nodding slowly she blushed. ‘well-’

‘it doesn’t matter’ I answered simply. ‘Because I know your not sorry and to tell the truth I’m not sorry for how I responded. I like you I already told you that, I don’t mind that you totally just jumped me but I didn’t push you off. If you feel guilty for it put the blame on me because I know better I could of pushed you back but I didn’t’  I answered with a soft smile.

Blinking she nodded slowly.

Groaning Sophia shifted around in bed sitting up she glanced at me with a small smile as she pushed my shirt down to her knees. Rolling my shoulders I sat up along with her with a yawn. ‘how long have we been sleeping?’ yes that’s right I’ve had her in my bed half naked multiple times and not once did I try to get some. But it was nice to just have this kind of companionship with her, to wake up with her next to me tucked against my side. I liked to watch her while she sleep, how her cute puffy lips parted when she slept I thought it was cute how sometimes she’d let out a snore.

Shrugging I glanced at the clock. ‘Two hours?’ after her little episode she had passed out in my arms. Just letting me hold her. I knew I could easily get her to go along with anything I wanted, but for some reason  I didn’t have the urge to just have sex with her. I never was the romantic type but with Sophia something about the air around her made me want to just talk and cuddle.

I knew she felt the same way after seven years of no contact with anyone I understood her need to be close and some what clingy to someone who just happened to be me. I had taken the space of her mate Zachary, she hadn’t mentioned him yet or asked to leave. Which was nice so that I didn’t have to repeat the same things I said before.

‘hungry?’ nodding she crawled out of bed finding her pants she slid into them as I got out. Reaching for a shirt I pushed it on and stretched. ‘they should be done making dinner right about now’ nodding I took her hand and led her out of the room and down the hall passing two of my men who watched her curiously. Chuckling when she tucked herself into my side as we walked into the dinning room finding the table full with only a few seats.

‘Look whos alive, missed an interesting match my man’ shrugging at Nile he glanced over Sophia. ‘the human?’ nodding I took a seat as she sat next to me.

‘Sophia this is Nile, his mate Jill over there.’ I muttered to her as she watched. ‘those two fight like cats and dogs all the time, now they don’t know if their mates or not but we think they are’

‘how can you not know?’ she muttered curiously. ‘I mean isn’t there a spark or something?’

Nodding I shrugged. ‘that’s the thing they tried with someone else and there were sparks. Their mates in a more human way, they don’t have to mate for life like a wolf would they can break it off and move on to another, humans have that luxury I guess. Maybe that’s why you don’t feel so guilty for being with me’ blushing as I kissed her on the cheek I grabbed her plate and put food on it.

‘I guess your right. But wouldn’t what I do effect Zachary?’

Shrugging she glanced down at the food. Picking at it with her fingers she peeled the skin off the chicken. ‘I don’t really know maybe, but even so it will go away sooner or later.’ Chewing slowly she mulled it over in her head her brows knitted together as she thought.

‘and what am I? Nothing?’ looking at my human brother I shot him a grin.

‘and that is my brother Dustin he’s a year younger then me, annoying as hell though’  I answered sarcastically with a smirk as he threw a apple at me. Catching it I took a bit before I shot it back at him. Attempting to catch it he swatted it away. ‘Dustin this is Sophia our little human girl’

Waving at him she didn’t pay much attention to him as she tore through the chicken chewing at the meat. Making me smile she blushed when she dropped the cleaned  off bone licking her fingers off she bit her lip with embarrassment.

‘its all you can eat a never ending flow well not really we go through a lot of food here’ Dustin grinned at her as he added another chicken thigh on her plate.

‘not never ending Dustin there's only 20 pounds of chicken’ Ben grumbled dryly

Nodding she ate the macaroni and cheese and the chicken before she pushed her plate away. ‘full?’ glancing at me she nodded. Finishing up my plate I stood up. ‘want to go walk around then?’ nodding again I took her hand and wave at my brother who was winking at me as we walked away.

‘your brother is, funny’

Grunting she wrapped her arms around my arm. ‘I guess you could say that it annoys me really’

‘I’d of loved to of had a brother I wished I’d of had a brother’ she sighed with a little frown tears wetting the corners of her eyes.

‘don’t think about it Sophia some memories are best left in the darkness never relived again’ I whispered to her with a frown as I brushed her hair out of her face. ‘something’s help being forgotten because the memories can be to painful to recall’ pausing at the door I pushed it open. ‘this room was made for the woman to go to for some free time to get away from men.’

‘its ok smells funny can we just go back to our room?’ she grunted softly as she looked up at me. Nodding to her she smiled.

‘on we go’ pulling her along with me with a smile I held her tight to my side.

‘why’s it so cold?’ glancing at her as she started to feel around blindly she gave a whimper when I intertwined my fingers with hers.

‘I’m here it’s not cold’ pulling her arm I pulled her against my chest as I looked into her eyes that seemed to be staring far off. Tipping her chin up to me I  pressed my lips to hers. ‘its warm in here, everything ok’ I whispered to her

Whimpering softly her arms locked around my neck as she pressed into me her body shaking as she moved her lips against mine. ‘but its so cold…I- I cant feel my fingers Tanner’ growling softly pulled away from her grabbing her hands I rubbed them between mine warming them between mine. ‘Why cant I see? Why cant I see?’ she demanded in a quivering voice as I kissed her.

‘shh its ok, its ok, I’m here’ pulling her closer I kissed her deeply feeling her shiver at my touch. Pulling away from her I smiled. ‘how about now?’

Blinking she met my gaze. ‘why did that happen to me?’

‘I don’t know why’ I answered to her with a frown. Rubbing her cheek with my thumb I looked into her eyes. ‘but I made it go away didn’t I?’ nodding she bit her lip. ‘and I’ll do it again and again and again as many time as I need to’

Looking down she gave a sigh. ‘but how did you manage to make it go away with just a kiss?’

‘I don’t know how I did it that’s like asking how a butterfly knows how to fly.’ I answered wisely ‘I once heard that just being close to ones mate heals the other, but I also heard that a hybrid like me has special powers. Only some though you never truly know what those powers are. Maybe I have that power to keep you safe when you need it.’ I whispered to her.

‘so you think that you can heal me?’ nodding he chewed on his bottom lip. I’d have to admit he looked really cute like that how his hair was ruffled slightly making me smile even more at him.

‘but then again its just a guess I mean I could just be that good’ he smirked at me as he slid his hand up my neck cocking my head to the side I gulped in anticipation as he leaned down and pressed his lips along my neck sending a chill through me as his warm lips trailed down my neck. I liked how it felt I liked how it made me all warm inside as he pulled me close to him. ‘I mean I do make you tremble under my touch’

Groaning under the pressure of his lips against my neck as he flicked his tongue over my skin hitting a sensitive spot I gave a little gasp of shock as my hands curled in his hair. ‘Wha-what are you doing to me?’ I whispered in a breathy voice.

‘would you like me to stop now sweetheart?’ pulling away he looked into my eyes.

Feeling my lips quiver I licked them as I leaned up pressing my lips to his he gave a grunt when I pushed him back landing on top of him he smiled against my lips.

‘your not scared about what we’re doing are you?’ he tested softly as he touched my lips with his thumb. Shaking my head he smiled at me, ‘I think I like how your not afraid of how I make you feel, your not shaking’ leaning he gave me a kiss.

‘Tanner’ nuzzling my neck he gave a grunt against my skin. ‘Tanner the phone…its ringing’

Growling against my neck he pulled away from me. ‘ok, ok I’ll get it’  rolling out of bed I watched as he tossed his shirt off. ‘I don’t see why I should’ answering it he grunted. ‘this better be good’

Pause. Waiting he glanced over at me.

‘Give me a second.’ Holding the phone away he looked at me. ‘I have to talk for a while ok?’ nodding he went to the bathroom. ‘I’ll be  out when I’m done’ nodding he locked the door behind him.

Chewing on my bottom lip I lifted my legs up and stretched out touch my toes as I forced myself to sit up slightly.
