Chapter Five

"Do we have to?" Ren asked and Mizuki could hear the whining in his tone.

"Yes." Mizuki replied as he swung his leg over Niko and climbed on.

"Come on."

Ren groaned before slowly pushing himself behind Mizuki, almost falling in the process but Mizuki grabbed his hands and helped him get on.

Mizuki moved Ren's hands until they were resting on his stomach and then he let go and grabbed the reins.

"Ready?" He asked and then he felt Ren press closer, his thighs pressing against his and his front pressing against Mizuki's back.

"Mhmm." Ren hummed as he also tightened his hands around his stomach.

"Don't make me fall."

"I won't."

Niko started moving slowly at first but soon they were speeding off. As they moved Ren pressed his face against Mizuki's back as fear of falling took over his senses.

Mizuki tried to ignore the feeling of Ren pressed up against him and the feel of his breathing hitting his back.

Focus on riding.

They spent the whole day riding, stopping to eat and drink before continuing. They were lucky they didn't stumble upon anyone because that would have caused a lot of complications.

Mizuki didn't want to see a soldier from Yarisha in case they tried to take Ren back. He was lucky Ren was being so complying and not trying to run away and he didn't need him to see anyone or anything that would make him act up.

Soon, the sun went down as the stars came out and Mizuki slowed down as they neared a cave.

"Let's stop here for tonight." Mizuki said but when Ren didn't loosen his hands on his stomach he frowned.

"Ren?" He asked and suddenly Ren let go in a hurry making him slip and fall.

"Fuck." He groaned and Mizuki's eyes widened at both the cuss and the fact that he fell.

Mizuki got down from Niko and crouched next to Ren. "Are you okay?"

"Does it look like I'm okay?" Ren said, his voice raising.

"It's your fault for letting go so suddenly. What's wrong with you?" Mizuki scolded and Ren frowned.

"I..I didn't realize we arrived and then you scared me by saying my name." He mumbled as a blush coated his freckled cheeks and Mizuki had to scream at himself for wanting to smile.

"Come on, get up." Mizuki said, grabbing his writs and pulling him up.

"It's all your fault." Ren mumbled walking over to the cave.

"How is it my fault?" Mizuki called out as he tied up Niko.

"You said you won't make me fall!" Ren screamed back and Mizuki chuckled.

"I'm not the idiot who wasn't paying attention. Did you fall asleep or something?" He said walking inside the cave to see a pout on Ren's face as he scowled at the ground.

"I did not." He said, but Mizuki was starting to doubt it.

"Come here." Mizuki ordered and Ren walked over.

"Give me your hands." Ren raised his hands and rolled his eyes as Mizuki tied him up.

"You suck at tying it up." Ren said and Mizuki raised his eyebrows.

Someone's feeling talkative.

"Oh yeah?" Mizuki asked and then purposely tightened the ropes making Ren wince.

He immediately felt bad and loosened them up a bit making Ren snicker.

"You're the worst kidnapper ever." He added.

"Why are you talking so much?" Mizuki asked.

"I mean." He continued, ignoring Mizuki's question. "I could have ran away so many times. I could have even killed you with the arrow earlier. You're so stupid and you're lucky it's me you kidnapped and not some other royal because then you'd be dead."

Mizuki was starting to feel offended and he ignored Eren as he grabbed the blanket.

"You don't get the blanket tonight, you brat." He scowled and pushed him to the back of the cave.

"Wait what?" Ren said but Mizuki ignored him and walked to the front.

He didn't want to say it but deep down he knew that if he had kidnapped another royal he wouldn't have been as nice as he was with Ren.

He's kind but he's not a complete fool.

There was just something about Ren that prevented him from being harsh.

Mizuki took a deep breath and rested against the wall of the cave as he raised the blanket up to his chest.

It was cold tonight and he was glad that he grabbed the blanket with him from the other cave because as expected there's not another one in here.

As Mizuki almost dozed off he heard rustling from the back of the cave and he raised his head to see Ren shuffling closer to him.

"What are you doing?" Mizuki asked starling the short boy.

"M'cold."

"What?"

"I said I'm cold!" Ren said and Mizuki smirked.

"Then you shouldn't have been such a brat hm?"

"Sorry." Ren whispered.

"What was that?" Mizuki teased and Ren groaned.

"I'm sorry." He repeated a bit louder.

"Well that's great and all but I'm also cold and I'm not giving up the blanket."

"I'm colder." Ren said.

"No you're not."

"Yes I am."

"Just come here." Mizuki groaned and raised the blanket.

"What why?" Ren asked.

"Well we have no other choice but to share? I'm tired and your being annoying so shut up and come here."

"But.."

"Do you want it or not?" Mizuki asked and Ren reluctantly walked over and sat down next to him.

He grabbed the hem with his tied hands and pulled more then half on his body making Mizuki tug it back towards him.

"Stop." He chastised.

"You stop."

"Ren-hey you can't take the whole thing."

"I'm not, look there's some on you."

"Yeah only on my leg."

"You should be grateful."

"I swear to god if you don't stop I'm sending you back to the back"

"Fine." Ren relented and let Mizuki equally drape the blanket on them.

Mizuki sighed in relief when after 15 minutes Ren passed out.

He didn't think such a calm and quiet person can become so annoying.

And adorable.

No- only annoying.

Maybe the fall from the horse made him loose his mind.

Mizuki turned to look at Ren to see his head in a very uncomfortable position and it kept falling from one side to another.

I shouldn't.

But he looks uncomfortable.

But he's the enemy.

Oh fuck it.

Mizuki moved to face Ren and gently cradled his small face into his large hands and then moved him down until his head landed on his lap.

Mizuki took off the blanket from under him and decided to cover Ren's body with it.

And to think he was fighting for that same blanket not even 20 minutes ago.

Despite it being night time, the moon's light was directly going into the cave and shining upon Ren's face.

Mizuki couldn't help but raise his hand and run it through Ren's soft brown locks. Ren shifted and moved his head deeper into Mizuki making the older boy panic.

But after a couple of moments the boy settled back and his body moved with the deep breaths he was taking.

Mizuki was glad he was getting sleep because from what he saw that morning it didn't like he got any the previous night.

Mizuki rested his head again the wall, letting his eyes flutter closed with his hand still buried in Ren's hair as he let himself succumb to his tiredness.
