I was sitting on the couch staring at the television. I wasn't really paying attention to the movie playing, but waiting for Jasper. The school had called his house and he was currently talking to them. The only explanation I could think up is him getting fired. Maybe he should have just stayed with Alice, because I certainly was making his life difficult.
Jasper came in with a small grin on his face. He held up the phone for me to see. "I was fired." He said with a single amused chuckle.
"Oh my god, I'm so sorry!"
"No don't worry about it, my boss had just gone through a divorce and her emotions were like torture. Not to mention how good her.. uh, blood smelled." He said, sounding slightly embarrassed.
"I'll keep an eye out for another job. I feel so bad." I sighed.
"Don't feel bad." He said seriously.
"It's to late for that." I grumbled. Suddenly my emotions were swept away and I became perfectly content.
"Just forget about it, I'll find another job. I may only have three dollars to my name, but I'll manage." He shrugged with a light chuckle.
"Three dollars?" I asked in disbelief.
"It was a joke." He sighed and rolled his eyes. "I withdrew a couple thousand dollars in Mississippi before I left. I'll be just fine." He assured me.
"Oh." I whispered. I felt my face burning. I should have known he was just joking, now I looked like an idiot.
"Hey, stop that. Don't berate yourself, you have no reason to." Jasper said seriously and more happy emotions were forced upon me.
"Would you stop with the mood thing?" I asked. Jasper chuckled and his influencing waves subsided. He sat down across from me and turned on some kind of war movie. He sat there in silence and just watched the television for a moment.
"Let's talk strategy." Jasper suggested suddenly.
"What?" I asked in confusion. What did he mean by strategy?
"How do we get everyone to come back to Forks?" Jasper queried.
"I have no idea. Do you have anything?"
"Actually, I do. The only one who we can really 'communicate' with is Alice, so we have to make her see that you need them to come back." Jasper said.
"But hasn't she already seen your plan? It won't work."
"That's what the war movie is for. She hates them, so she has probably already blocked out this vision. At least I hope so anyway."
"What if it didn't work?" I asked.
"Then we'll try something else. I won't leave you. I'll help you get them back." He assured me. I smiled and I could feel myself blushing.
"Thanks." I mumbled, my face burning hotter.
"Yep." He replied. "Anyway, I was thinking if she saw you doing something incredibly dangerous, then she would have no choice but to either come back herself or tell Carlisle. If she tells Carlisle, then bingo, everyone's back! He won't leave you on your own if he thinks you're in danger. If Alice comes here first then I will probably be murdered. It's a fifty-fifty shot."
"I have to do something dangerous? Like what?" I asked. Being a little reckless, and putting yourself in intense danger were two completely different things.
"I don't know yet, but I'm working on it." He said.
"How dangerous?" I asked
"It has to look life threatening, but I would never actually put you in danger. You'll be fine." He promised.
"What if we gave her little scares up until the big one?"
"Of course! If she's already tense then she will be more compelled to get help. We will do little things, and once she's worked up we hit hard. It's perfect!" He grinned.
"You're sure about this? You'd trick Alice like this, because of me?"
"Like I said, we haven't been on the same wavelength recently. We've both kinda neglected our relationship for a while now. I just need to make things right, I'm sure she'll understand." He said with a small frown.
"You're sure?" I asked quietly.
He shrugged his shoulders. "Not really, but don't concern yourself over it. I want to do this."
"Okay." I whispered. I hated causing problems, but if Jasper really wanted to do this, then who was I to stop him?
"How do we scare her?" He asked, looking lost in thought.
"You know her the best, what usually scares her?" I questioned.
"You really scared her this one time. It was right after you decided to go on a date with that Newton kid. She said your future kept disappearing. Any clue as to why?" He queried.
"No.. I went home after. I don't understand why my future would disappear." I said, and tried to think this through. Why would my future disappear.
"Did anything out if the ordinary happen?"
"Not really.. Billy and Jacob Black came over, but that's it." I stated. A large smile broke out across Jasper's face.
"He's a wolf! It makes sense! How did I not see it?" He said excitedly.
"See what?" I asked. What was he so excited about?"
"Vampires and wolves are natural born enemies! They must have some kind of shield that blocks out her gift. They have some sort of defense system. Whenever your futures intertwine Alice is blocked out! This is perfect!" He exclaimed.
"Why?" I asked, feeling stupid.
"We can hide our plans if Jacob is near. We don't have to worry about Alice. This makes things a lot easier."
"What should we do first then?"
"I think we take care of two things first. We get my motorcycle fixed, and I go talk to Jacob to see if we can put this family feud behind us." Jasper said with a small smile on his lips. "Should be easy enough."
"What about the whole mortal enemies thing?" I questioned. That seemed like it would be a little hard to overlook.
"Could be problematic, but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it. Let's go, the sooner the better." He said and began to walk out the door. I followed behind him. I couldn't believe we were actually doing this. Could we really get the Cullens to come back?
Sorry this chapter is so short, but I needed to get it out of the way. The next few chapters are going to be a little fluffy, but I hope that you enjoy them regardless.
