I walked down the stairs, hearing a knock on the door and I reached the landing. I opened it and looked between Stefan and Damon who stood there. "You're both here.. who's dying?" I asked sarcastically and Stefan folded his arms over his chest in some response.
"We went to see Katherine." He stated and I smirked and opened the door wide enough for them.
"Well, come on in." I replied and walked down the hall to the kitchen where Elena was putting coffee into a mug.
"Who was it?" Elena asked before Stefan and Damon came into the kitchen behind me. "What now?" She asked, letting out a sigh as she looked between the two.
~~~
"Katherine made a deal with us. If we get her out, we get the moonstone and she disappears from Mystic Falls forever." Stefan stated as Damon grabbed an orange from the island counter and started tossing it in his hands.
"You don't believe her, do you?" Elena asked the brothers in annoyance.
"No, of course not. We just want the moonstone." Damon pointed out as he tossed the orange between his hands.
"According to Rose's friend Slater, there's a way to destroy the spell that Klaus wants to break." Stefan added as he leant on the island counter.
"No spell, no doppelgänger sacrifice. Ergo, you live." Damon added in amusement towards Elena and I looked at her and sighed.
"How do we destroy it?" I asked raising an eyebrow at the two.
"By releasing it from the moonstone." Stefan replied and I furrowed my eyebrows.
"How do you guys know this is going to work?" Elena asked in defeat at them.
"Because we have a craft witch on our side." Damon replied snidely and I rose an eyebrow.
"You've discussed it with Bonnie.." I countered and watched them both nod in agreement.
"She agreed to do anything she could to help us." Stefan stated and looked at Elena who sighed.
"It's Katherine who has the moonstone. She's not going to give it to you." Elena pointed out, shaking her head in return.
"We're going to get it from her." Stefan replied resting his elbows on the counter and I furrowed my eyebrows.
"What Stefan means to say, is that we will pry it from her cold, dead hand if we have to." Damon stated looking at me and I slowly nodded.
"Bonnie just needs to find a way to release the seal, long enough for us to get the moonstone and get out in time for her to return it." Stefan added nodding at us.
"Wow. I mean, it sounds like you guys already have it all planned out." Elena stated emotionlessly, nodding at them as she leant against the counter.
"Yep. We're awesome." Damon stated in amusement, making me roll my eyes at his sudden burst of optimism.
"Except for one thing." Elena stated and we all furrowed our eyebrows at her. "I don't want you to do it." She countered, her eyes lingering on me, uncertain of my reaction.
"Elena, like you said, this isn't about just you anymore." I stated in protest, making her shake her head.
"What about Klaus?" She asked, furrowing her eyebrows and I crossed my arms over my chest in defeat.
"We'll find him, but after we get the moonstone." Stefan reassured her in
"Before or after he kills everyone that I care aboutâincluding you two." Elena stated gesturing at them and they furrowed their eyebrows at her.
"Elena, if we can de-spell the moonstone, we can save your life." Stefan argued and she sighed, walking away from us.
"That's what everyone keeps saying." She stated emotionlessly and the brothers looked at me confused.
"Do What you have to do." I stated emotionlessly and they looked at me confused. "Look, if and when all of this does go downâElena won't be any part of it." I added and Damon furrowed his eyebrows at me.
"Marianaâ" Damon started before I cut him off.
"Katherine literally cloned herself a daughter, Damon. I am a freaking clone. I have her blood, as well as Elena's. That means I might as well be the perfect one for Klaus to get his grubby little paws on." I stated angrily and they both stared at me quietly. "Elena will have no part in this anymore.. She can't." I whispered shaking my head at Stefan and Damon before I walked away from them also.
~~~
I walked into the Salvatore house and down the hall raising an eyebrow at the empty living room. "It's not nice to leave a girl naked so early in the morning." A voice stated from beside me and I turned to see rose coming down the hall as she tied her robe. I arched an eyebrow at her and she stopped walking as soon as she saw me. "Whoa. Sorry, I thought you were..." Rose stated as she led off and I slowly nodded towards her. "There's no one else here." She added and I slowly nodded, folding my arms over my chest.
"Well, I came to see you.. so you should probably get dressed." I pointed out, tilting my head at her.
~~~
"It's a bad idea." Rose stated as she paced in front of me from where we both stood in the library.
"No, it's not. From what Stefan told me, your friend slater obviously has more information about Klaus. And you and Damon just gave up before you got it." I pointed out as I leant against the fireplace.
"Because somebody blew up a coffee shop with us in it." Rose countered in annoyance and I shrugged in uninterest.
"There's more to learn. We just have to find a way to learn it." I countered shaking my head at her.
"Why are you coming to me with this?" Rose asked furrowing her eyebrows and I sighed.
"Because I could kill you without blinking. Doesn't matter how old you are." I replied narrowing my eyes at her and she rolled hers. "And because you kidnapped my sister. You can see that I know how to keep a grudge." I added, tilting my head at her.
"Or maybe it's because Stefan and Damon don't know that you're here.. And their moonstone idea gives you a chance to sneak away." Rose replied and I rolled my eyes.
"Let's face it. It's never that easy, okay? There's always a punchline so I might as well get to the end of it." I replied emotionlessly and rose eyed me suspiciously.
"What exactly do you hope to achieve by this?" Rose asked furrowing her eyebrows at me and I arched mine at her.
"Alright, I'll bite." I stated sighing at her and she looked at me confused. "If you help me with this, I'll help you walk in the sun." I added narrowing my eyes and she gave me a small smile.
~~~
Rose and I walked up the stairs towards Slater's loft and I rose an eyebrow at it. The door was very chic.. Not something I expected from a vampire. "Slater!" Rose yelled as she pounded on the door. "Slater, It's Rose. Open up!" She added loudly, making me raise an eyebrow. "He's not home. Sorry." She stated with a shrug and I rolled my eyes.
"We didn't come all the way out here for nothing." I protested and watched as Rose narrowed her eyes at me before turning back toward the door and easily pushing them open.
"After you." Rose stated sarcastically a she gestured me inside and I slowly walked in. I looked around curiously, taking it all on as I noticed it was big and mostly empty. "Slater?" Rose asked loudly as she walked into the loft, as of she knew where he would be. I slowly looked at all of the pictures on the walls before I heard Rose gasp from the room across me. "I don't think he's going to much of a help." She pointed out and I walked toward her in confusion before I saw the desiccated vampire laying on the floor in front of us with a stake through his heart. I sighed in defeat while Rose started moving the body. I walked over to six computers that were set up near some windows. I rose an eyebrow at the large desk in front of me and started shuffling through papers that sat there before Rose came in from behind me.
"Looks like whoever blew up the coffee shop, came here and killed him for his information." I stated as I looked over the papers in my hand.
"Yeah. Probably to stop him from helping people like us. The guy was a vampire almanac. Knowing too much information just bit him in the ass." Rose stated quietly before she walked over to the windows beside us and pulled back the curtains back to let light come in.
"What are youâ" I started as I looked at her in concern but she sighed.
"Tempered glass. U.V. rays can't penetrate." Rose informed before she stared out the window and I watched her silently. "I used to just come here and watch the day." She added quietly, deep in thought. I looked down back at the paperwork again before I picked up a picture frame from the desk and eyed Slater and a women together.
"I'm sorry about Slater." I stated, looking back at Rose who slowly met my gaze as I put the picture back down.
"Any luck?" She asked and I sighed, grabbing the computer keyboard in front of me and trying to unlock the computer but I couldn't.
"It's password protected, I can't get in." I answered in defeat as I looked over all six computer screens.
"Then this is pointless. Let's just go." Rose replied before a loud cluttering sound came from behind us and we both turned toward it on high alert. "Stay here." Rose warned and I slowly nodded as she walked slowly over to a pair of closet doors and opened them before looking around curiously. "Alice?" Rose asked, looking someone in confusion.
"Rose.." A woman's voice whispered shakily before she woman ran into Rose's arms, holding her tightly as she cried. "He's dead." The woman sobbed, and I recognized her as the woman from the picture I just looked at.
~~~~
I poured tea that I had just made into three cups as Rose came into the kitchen and I rose an eyebrow. "She found him a few minutes before we did." Rose pointed out as she sat on the stool beside me at the island counter.
"How is she?" I asked, gesturing back at Alice who seemed a little shaken up still.
"Overreacting. Big time." Rose replied and I furrowed my eyebrows as I put the pot of tea down on the counter.
"Her boyfriend just died. Is there such thing as overreacting?" I asked in annoyance and Rose rolled her eyes at me.
"Those tears are for her. She didn't care about Slater. She was only dating him long enough to see if he'd turn her." Rose countered and I scoffed in disbelief as she nodded. I sighed and picked up a cup of tea before I walked towards Alice who was sitting in the living room.
"Thank you." Alice stated once I gave her the tea and sat in the chair next to her. "You look really familiar. Did you know Slater?" She asked looking me over and I rose an eyebrow at her.. she was kinda creepy. Light skin, green eyes, dark hair. Way too much dark lipstick as well as eyeliner.. Really stressing the whole 'vampire' look.
"Uh, not personally. No." I answered slowly nodding and she nodded back, sipping her tea. "I just knew that he kept detailed records of all of his vampire contacts, and I was hoping that he could point me towards Klaus." I stated and she scoffed, looking back at me.
"Doubtful. Klaus doesn't want to be pointed at." Alice replied and I furrowed my eyebrows.
"Do you know skaters computer password?" I asked and she looked taken aback and hurt once I asked her that.
"Are you seriously asking me that right now? I just saw my boyfriend with a stake through his heart." She replied emotionlessly but mostly in annoyance and I sighed.
"I understand that. Do you know his password?" I asked, tilting my head at her like the bitch that I am.
"Who do you think you are?" Alice asked shaking her head in disbelief as she sipped her tea again. I looked over towards rose who still sat on the stool, obviously amused by the scene.
"What if I could convince Rose to turn you? Will you show us his files then?" I asked Alice and she rose an eyebrow at me with a small smile while Rose no longer had the look of amusement on her face. But the look of disbelief.
~~~
"Someone's been here. The hard drives been completely wiped out." Alice stated as she went through Slater's computer while Rose and I stood behind her.
"Yeah, probably whoever killed him." Rose replied as I paced back and forth slowly.
"Lucky for you, Slater was paranoid. Everything's backed up on a remote server." Alice pointed out as she typed into the keyboard quickly and I rose an eyebrow.
"You know that she's not going anywhere nearby blood, right?" Rose whispered towards me and I smirked a bit.
"Yeah. But she doesn't." I countered as I walked away from her and closer to Alice while Rose gave me a small smile. I looked down at one of the computer screens as Alice popped open Slater's emails and nodded.
"Kristian Stewart. God, was he obvious." Alice sighed in annoyance at the emails.
"These are all links to vampires?" I asked as I stared in awe at them all.
"Slater was obsessed. Almost as much as me." Alice replied as she stared at the screen in front of her, scrolling through the emails.
"What about that one? Cody Webber?" Rose asked from behind Alice's chair. "We exchanged dozens of emails about Elijah." She added, leaning toward the screen.
"I could call him." Alice suggested as she looked over her shoulder at Rose and I grabbed my phone before giving it to her.
"Tell him that we're trying to send a message to Klaus. The doppelgänger is alive.. and she's ready to surrender." I stated emotionlessly, making Rose widen her eyes at me
"What!" Rose asked in shock but I didn't look at her.
"Oh, my god. I knew I recognized you." Alice stated in amazement as she looked up at me with a smile on her face but I rolled my eyes.
"Get him the message, please." I replied in annoyance before I walked in the direction and of the kitchen as I felt my nerves come over me.
"What are you doing?" Rose asked as she came in behind me and I shrugged.
"I'm getting Klaus' attention." I stated emotionlessly and she slowly shook her head at me.
"If Klaus knows that you're alive, he'll find you and he'll kill you." Rose stated in warning and I turned towards her and folded my arms over my chest as she looked me over. "Which is exactly what you wanted all along.." She whispered and slowly shook her head in disbelief.
"I would pick me over Elena any dayâgladly. I was made for this specific reason, Rose. Katherine made me, not knowing that Elena was even going to come along, okay? I'm just playing my part." I informed as Alice came up behind Rose.
"Cody is on his way, and he really wants to meet you." Alice stated and I nodded in agreement while Rose scoffed in protest but didn't say anything else.
~~~
I walked around the loft as time passed by while I drank a glass of water because apparently old pal Slater, didn't know what alcohol was. I walked over by the computers where Alice stood by the windows, messing with the curtains before she rose an eyebrow at me. I watched her brows furrow in realization before I quickly turned around and scoffed. "What are you doing here?" Damon asked as he narrowed his eyes down at me.
"What are you doing here?" I countered in annoyance before I heard footsteps come from behind me and I looked at them to see Rose. "You called him?" I asked her in disbelief.
"I'm sorry, Mariana." She answered with a sigh and I folded my arms over my chest.
"You said that you understood." I stated angrily, clearly mad at myself for being stupid enough to believe her.
"She lied." Damon pointed out from behind me and I turned back to him.
"Damon Salvatore." Alice stated in shock as she walked over to us, making him scoff.
"Get rid of her." Damon stated in disgust as he looked at Rose who grabbed Alice and led her away from us.
"No.. way." Alice finished in thought as she went with Rose while I sighed deeply at Damon who looked down at me again.
"Come on. We're leaving." He stated, gesturing me to follow him to the door but I scoffed.
"No." I answered emotionlessly and watched him raise an eyebrow.
"I said we're leaving." Damon pressed in annoyance down at me, making me shrug.
"I'm not going with you." I countered, standing my ground which only made him clench his jaw.
"You do not get to make decisions anymore." Damon stated in anger and I furrowed my eyebrows.
"I'm a big girl, Damon. And this is my decision." I argued in defiance and he craned his neck down on me.
"Who's going to save your life while you're out making decisions?" Damon asked as he narrowed his eyes while I rolled mine.
"I can protect myself, Damon. I don't want toânor have I asked, to be saved, okay? Not if it means that Klaus is going to kill Elena, along with every single person I love." I pointed out and watched as he became silent, obviously thinking it over.
"Get your ass out the door before I throw you over my shoulder and carry you out myself." He countered emotionlessly and I scoffed. Damon grabbed my arm harshly but I pulled it away from him.
"No." I stated in anger as he grabbed it tightly again. "No, Damon." I warned, shaking my head at him but he didn't let go. I balled up a fist and threw it at him but he caught it in his hand easily. I saw him clench his jaw before he slowly leant toward me, staring between my eyes and my lips.
"Don't ever do that again." Damon warned quietly and I felt my breath hitch in my throat. We stared at each other in silence before he lett me go and walked away from me.
~~~
"Time to go." Damon stated as he opened the French doors of the bedroom once he came out. "Alice is sleeping and definitely won't remember much of anything from this horribly stupid day." He added as he narrowed his eyes down at me while I stood beside Rose. We went to walk out the front doors just as they were kicked in, revealing three men that strolled into the apartment. One stood in front of the door, guarding it while the other two stood in front of us.
"We're here to meet the doppelgänger." Said the man that stood before us, looking over me expectantly.
"Thank you for coming." I nodded as I walked forwards but Damon grabbed my right arm and pulled me behind him.
"I will break your arm." Damon stated emotionlessly in warning, making me playfully as I felt his
"I like it when you play rough." I said in amusement and watched him roll his eyes at me.
"There nothing here for you." Damon stated toward the three men before the one guarding the door groaned. We all moved our gazes on him to see him fall to the floor as Elijah stood behind him. I gasped and widened my eyes at him as he vamped in front of the two vampires who turned fully toward him. Rose vamped out of the loft as quickly as possible while Elijah looked past both vampires and at me. "I killed you. You were dead." Damon stated sarcastically, earning a look from Elijah.
"For centuries now." He answered emotionlessly before looking back at the vampires. "Who are you?" He asked in curiousness.
"Who are you?" One of them asked in annoyance.
"I'm Elijah." He introduced and I watched as the vampires cowered in fear.
"We were going to bring her to you. For Klaus. She's the doppelgänger." One of the vampires stated in fear as Elijah looked back at me and I narrowed my eyes. "I don't know how she exists but she does. Klaus will want to see her." The vampire added with a nod while Elijah seemed disinterested.
"Does anyone else know that you're here?" Elijah asked, his eyes still peering into me.
"No." They both answered truthfully and Elijah finally looked back at them.
"Well, then you have been incredibly helpful." Elijah stated with a small smile before he quickly plunged his hands in both of their chests and ripped their hearts out. I gasped as the bodies fell to the ground and Elijah let their hearts drop from his hands. Damon slowly stepped forward protectively but Elijah vamped out of the loft, leaving us there. I furrowed my eyebrows and looked at Damon who gave me the same exact look.
~~~
"Thank you for bringing me home." I stated emotionlessly as Damon and I walked up the steps of my porch.
"Well, your ride left you. I didn't want to leave you stranded." Damon replied and I sighed at him as we both stood in front of the door.
"She was just scared. She didn't mean to run." I stated quietly and looked away from him.
"Yes, she did. She's been running for five hundred years." He stated in protest, obviously annoyed at her and I sighed.
"I can't believe Elijah's alive." I pointed out, changing the subject as I thought about it over in my head. "Why do you think he killed those two vampires and just let us go?" I asked, folding my arms over my chest.
"If I had a dollar for every time some evil vampire surprised me." Damon answered sarcastically and I slowly nodded in agreement. I stepped closer to the front door but Damon grabbed my arm and narrowed his eyes at me. "What you did today was incredibly stupid." He stated down at me and I rose an eyebrow.
"Actually, the only thing that was stupid was that I got caught." I pointed out in annoyance and pulled my arm from him. "You know, I don't get why you even care. You wrote me off, Damon. I'm tired of you making decisions for me, especially when they should involve me in the first place." I stated in anger, making him furrow his eyebrows. "But I guess you're happy now, right? You have Rose?" I asked quietly, letting my eyes wander between his blue eyes and his lips. Damon opened his mouth in protest before the front door opened, revealing Jeremy. I widened my eyes as I looked over him, cute on his face and gauze covering a wound on his neck.
"What is it?" Damon asked in annoyance while I furrowed my eyebrows at Jeremy who looked so torn up.
"We got the moonstone.. But Stefan's stuck in the tomb with Katherine." Jeremy whispered and I looked back at Damon who clenched his jaw at the news.
~~~
Damon and I walked down the steps and into the tomb to see Elena sitting on the tomb floor while torches were lit up around it. "Elena." I stayed in defeat toward her before she quickly got up and ran to me, engulfing me in a hug.
"He's trapped, Mari." Elena stated in defeat and I sighed deeply. I looked at the tomb entrance to see it opened completely while darkness poured out.
"Stefan?" I asked, moving over to it and looking inside but not seeing or hearing anything. "Stefanâ" I asked again and I moved closer but Damon quickly grabbed me and pushed me up against the wall.
"Don't you dare." He stated in an angry tone and I groaned from underneath him before he let me go.
"Stefan is in there, Damon!" Elena yelled from behind him in worry as she quickly ran toward the entrance but I grabbed her instead, pulling her into my hold. "How could you let this happen?" She asked in disappointment toward Damon while she squirmed in my arms.
"What are you talking about? I was too busy saving your sister from her crazy suicide mission!" Damon argued as he watched Elena fight my hold on her.
"Mariana, let me go!" Elena yelled in anger but I ignored her and moved us farther from the tomb entrance.
"You didn't even have to go after the moonstone in the first place." I stated in annoyance as I groaned, tightening my hold on Elena.
"It was the right call, Mariana." Damon argued in protest, which only angered Elena more.
"The right call? How is any of this the right call!?" Elena argued in protest while she squirmed in my arms. I pushed her back into a wall looked at her in warning while she fought against me.
"Mariana, let go of me! Mariana!" Elena yelled as she pushed me, trying to free herself but I fought back harder. She started hitting me and I groaned at her punches, which made Damon step toward me in concern but I quickly shook my head. I grabbed Elena's hands in mind quickly and put all of my force into her as I pressed her back against the wall, grounding her. "Let go of me.. Mariana, please." Elena pleaded as she looked at the tomb entrance in defeat and let her face fall. I let her breath heavily, releasing all of her anger before I rose an eyebrow.
"You done?" I asked quietly before I slowly let my hold on her go and she looked back at me, narrowing her eyes. She stepped toward the tomb again and I quickly blocked her and tilted my head knowingly. Elena groaned lightly in annoyance before she walked past me and up the steps of the tomb before disappearing. I sighed deeply and looked at the tomb entrance in annoyance. "Of all the idiot plans, Stefan." I stated and heard a sigh of amusement before Stefan came into view as he walked into the light and folded his arms over his chest.
"Yeah." Stefan answered, slowly looking over the doorway of the tomb and I exchanged a worried look with Damon.
"I'll find a way to get you out. Bonnie and I can try the spell again. Two witches is better than one." I suggested with a small smile but Stefan slowly shook his head.
"No, that's alright. I'llâI'll uh, handle it myself.. Bonnie has the moonstone. Work with her, try to figure out how to de-spell it." He stated with a nod, which made Damon scoff lightly.
"You martyr yourself into a tomb and I get partnered with a semi-competent witch." Damon countered sarcastically and I rolled my eyes before he rose an eyebrow at my response. "Make that two of them... wonderful." He added and I elbowed him in the ribs out of annoyance.
"Keep Elena away from here." Stefan stated as he meant against the tomb wall and I sighed deeply.
"Yeah, 'cause that'll be easy." I countered with a scoff and he slowly nodded before looking down. "But I will.. She won't set a foot in here. I promise." I added with a soft smile. Stefan and I exchanged one last glance before Damon and I left the tomb.
-Time Skip-
"Now that you've got this back, what are you going to do with it?" I asked Bonnie as I held the moonstone in my hand and looked back at her from where she sat on my bed.
"Right now the moonstone is what binds the sun and the moon curse. If I can figure out a way to remove the spell from the stone, the stone become useless." Bonnie pointed out with a sigh and I slowly nodded.
"And according to Katherine and ElenaâKlaus becomes vengeful." I stated as I shook my head and Bonnie sighed.
"Mariana, we're not going to let you get killed in some creepy sacrifice ritual." Bonnie declared as Elena came into the room also.
"Well, that would be easy to say if your blood wasn't the key." Elena pointed out in defeat while I sighed in agreement. I walked out of my room and went downstairs and into the kitchen to grab some water. When I was walking down the hall, Elena was coming down the stairs with her car keys in hand.
"Where are you going?" I asked curiously as I rose an eyebrow at her, making her shrug.
"Um.. to see Stefan." She answered before Bonnie appeared at the top of the stairs from behind her.
"You're lying." Bonnie informed in a matter of fact tone and Elena rolled her eyes.
"No, I'm not." She protested and I tilted my head in response.
"Tell your face that." I replied with a slight smirk as Bonnie came down the stairs after Elena.
"She took the moonshine." Jeremy pointed out as he came from the top of the stairs with Bonnie's empty purse in hand.
"How did youâ" Elena started before Bonnie cut her off.
"We tested you. You failed." Bonnie answered, making Elena sigh and looked at me for help but I shrugged.
"Klaus killed Katherine's entire family just because she crossed him. I can't let that happen." Elena warned as she looked between the three of us but I shrugged.
"We aren't going to let that happen.. But you wanting to go on a suicide mission won't do anything." I pointed out and watched her narrow her eyes at me.
"Says the one who actually tried to." Elena countered emotionlessly and I rolled my eyes.
"Yeah, so my little sister wouldn't have to." I stated in annoyance. Elena looked back at Bonnie for help instead but she shrugged and moved out of her way. Elena rose an eyebrow and walked to the door and opened it before she tried to walk out, but was stopped by a barrier.
"What did you do?" Elena asked with furrowed brows as she put her hands up to the barrier, not being able to leave the house.
"It's for the best, Elena." Bonnie reassured her before she looked up the stairs and at Jeremy who sat on the steps and smirked down at Elena.
"If it makes you feel better, I can't leave either. Damon practically made her condemn me here because Tyler shifts tonight. Full moon and all." I scoffed in defeat and Elena looked back at the barrier, shaking her head in annoyance. "Anyways.. Anyone up for a movie?" I asked with a loud sigh as I looked between the three of them.

Elena and I sat in the family room as Damon came into the house and sighed once he saw us. "You should really lock your door." He stated in warning as he walking over to where Elena sat in the chair across from me while I sat on the couch. I looked away from him in annoyance and looked at Elena who had the same expression. "Awe, come in pouty. At least give me two points for ingenuity." He added in amusement but I rolled my eyes.
"Do you think this is funny?" Elena asked with a scoff, making me look at her in annoyance.
"Yes, Elena. He finds hilarity in the lengths we have to go to, to repeatedly save your life." I pointed out in sarcastically, making her look away from me.
"Pot, kettle, Mariana." Elena countered emotionlessly and I rolled my eyes. "What did Stefan say about this?" She added, looking back at Damon who shrugged.
"He had a good laugh." Damon admitted as I folded my arms over my chest from where I sat.
"And what did he say when you told him about Elijah still being alive?" I added, raising an eyebrow at Damon who sighed and sat beside me, putting an arm on the back of the couch behind me.
"Yeah.. That..." He answered, looking between Elena and I before he shrugged. "I didn't tell him." He informed and I scoffed lightly before I looked away from him.
"Why not?" Elena asked in annoyance as she also folded her arms over her chest.
"Well, 'A' He can't do anything about itâAnd 'B'... What I just said." Damon stated sarcastically as he shook his head back at her before Jeremy came into the room. "Where's Bonnie?" He asked, looking around curiously.
"I thought she was meeting you." Jer stated in confusion and I rose an eyebrow at the two.
"No. She's on moonstone duty and I'm onâGilbert sisters patrol." Damon countered as he gestured between Elena and I, making us roll our eyes.
"And who's on Tyler Lockwood and the full moon?" Jeremy asked, looking at me in curiousness and I sighed.
"Vampire Barbie asked me if she could handle it. I said why not, I figured if she screwed up, he'd bite her and I'd be rid of two problems." Damon informed in amusement as he smirked at me and I looked away from him.
"Hold on a second, tonight's the full moon?" Elena asked in confusion from where she sat while Damon's phone started ringing.
"Yep. But you're too busy with your suicidal tendencies to notice." He countered before getting up from the couch. "What?" He asked, answering the phone as he walked into the next room. I watched in silence as his expressions turned from confusion to anger and then finally to concern before he came back into the room and gestured at Jeremy. "Change of plans. You babysit." Damon stated and Jeremy smirked in agreement before he fell back onto the couch and landed his head into my lap. "You know what, you should get out. Enjoy the sunâOh, wait. You can't." He Stated jokingly toward Elena and I. Elena clenched her jaw and grabbed a pillow from the chair beside her before throwing it at Damon. I chuckled lightly and looked down at Jeremy who was laughing also and I gently ran a hand through his hair.

I walked down the stairs after to help Jenna get dinner ready, only to see her sifting through some stuff from the closet under the stairs. "Hey, what are you doing?" I asked as I noticed she was taking boxes out of it.
"Oh. Perfect timing." Jenna stated with a smile before she put a box in my hands and I grabbed it from her.
"And this is?" I asked in curiousness and looked down at her from over the box.
"Your mom's files from the historical society. I got roped into helping Mrs. Lockwood." Jenna sighed in defeat as she picked up the heavy box and I smirked a bit. "And by roped, I mean very excited to participate." She added in amusement and shut the closet door before looking at Elijah who stood in the kitchen doorway. I widened my eyes at the sight of him as he chuckled at Jenna before looking at me, as if to not even recognize me.
"Hey. I'm Elijah." He smiled and I narrowed my eyes at him, looking between the two of them carefully. Jenna put the box that she carried on the table before grabbing mine from my arms.
"Elijah's in town doing research on Mystic Falls." Jenna pointed out as she walked over to the table while Elijah stepped closer to me and I folded my arms over my chest, as of to protect myself.
"It's a pleasure." Elijah stated smiling down at me. I rose an eyebrow as he held out a hand and I slowly took it, shaking it in mine.
"So you know, you can sit here and rummage through this stuff, or Mariana and I can help you load it into your car." Jenna suggested as she stood next to us again before Elijah and I pulled away.
"Yeah, or I can get someone to pick it up tomorrow." Elijah answered with a smile and Jenna slowly nodded, folding her arms over her chest.
"Also a good plan." She stated in agreement before he gave her a small smile.
"Thank you so much for inviting me into your home, Jenna." Elijah said as the two of them walked down the hall and toward the door. "And, Mariana.." He added as Jenna opened the door for him. "I hope to see you again soon." He stated with a knowing nod and I stood there emotionlessly as he walked out the door before Jenna shut it. I quickly went up the stairs and into my room before I softly closed the door, breathing heavily as I did.. I felt someone behind me and I slowly turned and narrowed my eyes.
"What do you want?" I asked, looking at Elijah who silently stared me up and down from where he stood mere inches from me.
"I think it's time we had a little chat." He informed quietly and I furrowed my eyebrows at him.
"Talk." I stated, gesturing around my room before he slowly nodded and he sat on the windowsill.
"Forgive the intrusion. I mean your family no harm." He apologized, which made me tilt my head at him curiously.
"Why did you kill those vampires when they tried to take me?" I asked, still standing across from him.
"Because I didn't want you to be taken." Elijah pointed out vaguely. "Klaus is the most feared and hated of the Originals. But those that fear him are desperate for his approval. If word gets out that the doppelgänger, let alone two of them, existâthere'll be a line of vampires eager to take you to him, and I can't have that." He added as he tilted his head at me.
"Isn't that exactly what you're tying to do?" I asked, not understanding his logic.
"Let's just say that my goal is not to break the curse." He informed in a collected tone and I started pacing in front of him
"So what is your goal?" I asked, not understanding the reasoning behind his motives.
"Klaus' obsessions have made him paranoid. He's a recluse. He trusts only those in his immediate circle." Elijah informed and I rose an eyebrow.
"Like you?" I asked in a hushed voice which made him slowly shake his head.
"Not anymore." He answered quietly before he looked away in deep thought.
"You don't know where he is, do you?" I asked in some amusement as I started to piece it all together. "So you're trying to use Elena and I to draw him out." I added, scoffing lightly in disbelief.
"Well, to do that I need you and Elena to stay put and to stop trying to get yourselves killed." Elijah stated challengingly in amusement as he looked back at me.
"How do I know you're telling the truth?" I asked with a sigh of boredom from lies and deceit.
"Well, if I wasn't being truthful, all of your family would be dead and I'd be taking you or Elenaâor perhaps both, to Klaus right now. Instead, I'm here and I'm prepared to offer you a deal." Elijah suggested, making me look at him and slowly tilt my head in interest.
"What kind of a deal?" I asked, watching him raise an eyebrow at me before standing up from the windowsill.
"Do nothing.. Do nothing. Live your life. Stop fighting." Elijah answered as he walked over to my dresser while I watched him in curious silence. "And then, when the time is right, Elena and I shall draw Klaus out and I shall make certain that you and your friends remain unharmed." He added, looking over my books and such that were laying on my dresser.
"And then what?" I asked, making him turn to look at me before he shrugged.
"Then I kill him." He answered emotionlessly and I scoffed dryly in amusement.
"Just like that." I stated in a doubtful tone while he nodded in agreement.
"Just like that." Elijah repeated in agreement and I slowly nodded. "I'm a man of my word, Mariana. I make a deal and I keep a deal." He reassured with a small smile.
"And how are you going to be able to keep everybody safe exactly?" I asked as I put my hands in my back pockets and he sighed, looking me over.
"You know, I happened to notice that you and your little friend, Bonnie, is it? Possess the gift of magic.. I have friends with similar gifts." Elijah informed and I sighed, tilting my head.
"You know witches." I stated in realization before looking away from him as I thought it over.
"And together we can protect everybody that maters to you as well as Elena." Elijah stated, slowly walking over to me and I rose an eyebrow as I looked back at him. "So do we have a deal?" He asked, looking me over expectantly. I stared at him for a few seconds, dragging along my answer before I let out a small sigh.
"I need you to do one more thing for me." I countered quietly and watched him look at me in some amusement.
"We're negotiating now?" Elijah asked, playfully narrowing his eyes at me and I smirked a bit before walking away from him.
"As you know, I do possess the gift of magic." I informed while Elijah watched me carefully. "And assuming that you did your research on my family, you would know that witches do not descend from the Gilbert bloodline." I added and looked over my shoulder at Elijah who slowly nodded while he listened. "And you would also know that Elena and I aren't twins." I stated, watching his expression turn into confusion at the news. "I'm Katherine's daughter." I admitted emotionlessly, seeing the gears in his mind try to work it all out but obviously come up with nothing. "She had a powerful witch help 'create' me so that I could pass on as her, if and when, the time ever came.. That means that I not only have her face, but I have her blood.. Therefore, the Petrova Doppelgänger blood.." I added quietly, watching Elijah piece everything together.
"You want me to use your blood in the sacrifice instead of Elena's." He stated and I slowly nodded in agreement.
"No matter our differences, I consider her my blood. My sisterâI am Katherine's daughter and if Klaus is the one that she has been running from for the last five hundred years, then I am as good as gold." I informed with a small shrug.
"Is that all you ask then?" Elijah asked, tilting his head at me and I smirked a bit at his question.
"I also need you to make sure Stefan Salvatore gets out of the tomb under the Fell Church.. He's managed to trap himself in there.. With Katherine." I answered emotionlessly and watched Elijah barrow his eyes at her name.
