What seemed like a light, drifting feather moved surprisingly slowly through the air, yet by the time the four people opened their eyes to look, the feather was already perilously close to Beiting Huangâs face. There was no strength to counter, not even on the same level; no matter how confident Beiting Huang was, no matter how resolute his will, he couldnât bridge the gap between him and Blue Bird in strength.
Blue Bird represented absolute strength, not the half-baked kind embodied by Bing Feng.
âLittle Ninth!â@@novelbin@@
As the Jianyu mercilessly headed for Beiting Huang, Xu Xiaomo once again swung her thorny claw, summoning a fierce mountain tiger that leapt through the air with a ground-shaking roar. Like a grenade, it hurled itself at Blue Bird with the force of thunder.
Xu Xiaomo had no illusions that her help would cause Blue Bird to retract the sword feather. As Chi Fei and Chi Lan entangled Blue Bird, Xu Xiaomoâs thorny claw also reached for the Jianyu. She could not bear to watch her brother die before her; she was the daughter of Xu Chengmo and would never commit such disloyalty.
However, the gap in strength between Xu Xiaomo and Blue Bird was as vast as the heavens and the earth. No matter how fast she was, she couldnât outspeed the Jianyu. It seemed inevitable that the Jianyu would pierce Beiting Huang, with no possibility for him to dodge.
It was too fast!
Was this what it meant to be close to the strength of the Creation God? Was he really going to die at the hands of this damned crow today? Beiting Huang felt a sudden impulse to scoffâif this was to be his end, let him die with anger!
As the small furball in his embrace prepared to dart out and shield him from the sword feather, a layer of black mist suddenly emerged from Beiting Huangâs body. Within the mist, a stone that resembled a dark four-beast cauldron appeared in front of Beiting Huangâs chest. The stone grew larger, emitting an almost cosmos-devouring black glow that enshrouded Beiting Huang completely.
Clang!
A crisp, loud sound rang out, and sparks flew in every direction as the Jianyu, with the momentum of a thunderbolt, struck the stone. This stone was the Ancestral Stone that had always lain dormant within Beiting Huangâs dantian. To everyoneâs surprise, it had emerged at this very moment and had blocked a sword strike for Beiting Huang.
The Ancestral Stone remained unmoved, floating in front of Beiting Huang, shielding his entire body behind it. The Jianyu, however, suffered damage. The feather, as tough as cast steel, was split in two by the Ancestral Stoneâs rebound force.
After the Jianyu broke, it began to fall, and when Beiting Huang saw this, his eyes brightened. He flicked his flexible sword, sweeping the two fragments back and unceremoniously storing them in his spatial ring.
âTwo broken feathers, what does he want with those?â Chi Lan was puzzled. Without the power Blue Bird had imbued them with, the feathers had no attack power left.
âIdiot! Those are Blue Birdâs feathers; even a Divine Fire Alchemist could use them to refine a Supreme Artifact. Now, what do you think?â Xu Xiaomo retorted irritably.
A Supreme Artifact, indeed!
Chi Lan licked his lips and swallowed hard, envy shining even in his eyes.
Blue Bird would never willingly let his feathers fall into the hands of others. However, the emergence of the Ancestral Stone was too unexpected. Everything happened so abruptly that Blue Bird was momentarily dumbfounded. It wasnât until the Jianyu snapped and pain shot through his neck that he regained his senses, but it was already too late. The Jianyu that had split into two had already been taken by Beiting Huang.
