Chapter 202 This has been one hell of a game. Unfortunately, we lost by four points, but I donât think my performance was bad. We did well as a team, but surely, there were mistakes that we could learn from.
I check my phone after I finish showering and frown when I see the amount of missed calls and texts. This isnât normal. What increases my anxiety as I scroll through the notifications is that none of them is from Rosie. Everybody has practically called me except for Rosie.
I call my dad, already feeling on edge. Maybe Iâm just paranoid and nothing is wrong, but that doesnât feel right.
âDad, Iâve just finished the game. Whatâs going on?â I quickly ask once he picks up.
âSon, you need to come over as soon as possible,â Dad says. He sounds worried and breathless.
âWhatâs going on?â I ask, shoving my stuff in my bag.
âItâs a long story but Lily and Aniyah got kidnapped by Everest.â My eyes widen at what I have just heard. âHe contacted Rosie because he wanted a ransom from her. Luckily, she informed one of the guards on her way out of the house, and they managed to track the car she got in. We informed the police and theyâre currently searching for them. This is too much to take in. Iâm shocked to the point that I donât know what to say.
âWhat do you mean by that? Rosie is missing along with the girls?â Iâm already running out of the locker room and heading to the car.
âYes.â He sighs and my heart slams against my chest. I had a feeling that she sounded different when I called her before the game. I believed her when she said that she only sounded like that because she was watching The Vow. She lied to me. She lied to me to save Lily and Aniyah.
âDid they find them?â I turn on the car and drive as fast as I can to my parentsâ place.
âNot yet, but weâre doing everything in our power to find them. Iâm not depending on the police only,â Dad tells me.
Iâm going to murder those guards who let her go out on her own especially after she told them that she was basically going to throw herself in danger.
âIâm coming now,â I tell him and hang up.
I let out a scream as I drive and hit the stirring wheel in frustration. Not knowing where three of the most important women in my life are is killing me. I canât believe that they are all in danger and itâs all because of Everest. I donât know why heâs back and what he wants, but all I know is that Iâm going to skin him alive if he hurts any of them.
It doesnât take me a lot of time to reach my parentsâ place and the moment I do, I find my parents and Rosieâs parents running out of the front door. My stomach drops as my mind thinks about nothing but worstâcase scenarios.
âWhatâs going on? Do you have any news about them?â I quickly ask, getting out of the car.
âThey found them! Theyâve been taken to the hospital,â Julian answers quickly.
âWhich one?â I ask, already jumping in my car again.
âSt. Peter,â Mum replies as she gets inside the car with me and Dad does the same.
âHow are they? Is any of them hurt?â I ask. Does it make me a bad brother that I want to know how Rosie is? Part of me is certain that Everest wouldnât hurt the girls, because theyâre not the ones he wants. Rosie is his target. Thatâs why Iâm more worried about her.
âLily and Aniyah are in shock, but theyâre physically okay,â Mum answers, and I wait for her to say anything about Rosie, but 1/3 |||
14:59 Sat, Jan 4 & G G Chapter 202 she doesnât.
âAnd Rosie?â I speak. Impatience is already taking over me.
âRosie is alive,â Dad replies, and I frown.
âAlive is not enough, Dad! She needs to be alive and okay!â I exclaim, speeding up.
âWe donât know the extent of her injuries,â he tells me, and I suck in my breath.

+5 âSheâs going to be okay, Silas,â Mum tries to assure me, but I shake my head. Iâm not sure of arfything. I need to see my wife with my own eyes to make sure that sheâs okay. I need to hold her for as long as I can and apologize for not hiring better security.
âThey caught Everest, right?â If heâs still out there, Iâm going to wage a war.
âHeâs dead, son,â Dad replies. I never thought that someoneâs death could bring me so much relief like this.
I feel like we arrive at the hospital after an eternity. The moment we do, I run inside and ask for my wife I dash towards the room sheâs being treated in, and I find Lily and Aniyah in front of me. Theyâre fourteen years old, but suddenly, they look so much younger.
Lily is the first to notice me and once she does, she runs towards me and Aniyah follows her. I take the two of them in my arms and hold them tightly.
âAre you all right? Did he do anything to you?â I ask them.
âWeâre okay,â Aniyah whispers. We slowly break the hug, and I look at their faces, making sure with my own eyes that theyâre fine. I look at their hands and find the skin around their wrists slightly red.
âDid he tie you up?â I inquire, looking at their wrist.
âDuct tape,â Lily replies.
âWeâre fine, Silas. They didnât hurt us, but Rosie had it way worseâ Aniyah tells me, making my blood run cold. They? How many people were there?
âDid you see her?â
âWe saw her for less than a couple of minutes when Everestâs friend brought her, then we saw her here when the ambulance brought her a little while after we were brought,â Lily explains. There are so many things I want to ask about, but Rosie is my priority now.
âSheâs inside, right?â I wonder, motioning to the room I was told sheâs in. Aniyah nods. I leave the girls to their parents and try to look through the small glass window of the door, attempting to catch a glimpse of Rosie.
Luckily, a doctor opens the door and walks out.
âDoctor, Iâm Silas Cromwell, Rosieâs husband. Is she okay?â I ask him.
âThankfully, she doesnât have any serious injury. Just some bruises and a mild concussion. She only needs to stay here for one night to make sure that sheâs okay and you can take her home tomorrow.â I sigh in relief when he says that.
Just some bruises. Thatâs good. Thereâs nothing physical that I should worry about.
âCan I see her?â
âOf course, but only one person is allowed inside this room. The rest of you can see her once sheâs transferred to her private 2/3 14:59 Sat, Jan 4 G Chapter 202 room upstairs,â the doctor says. I havenât even noticed that they are all around me.

I know that it may be selfish of me, but I donât wait for anyone and just walk inside the room, just wanting to see her. Once my eyes lay on her, my heart skips a beat. She has a nasty bruise on her right cheekbone and another one on her left jawline. But thatâs okay. Weâre just talking about bruises here.
âHello there, cupcake,â I mumble and quickly close the space between us, not caring about the nurse in the room.
My beautiful wife throws herself in my arms and I hold her like Iâm never going to see her again. She breaks down in tears as I hold her, and I let her cry. I want her to let it all out. I donât know what theyâve done to her, but the bruises on her face say a lot.
The nurse walks out of the room, giving us privacy.
âHâHe was going to sâsell me to human tâtraffickers,â she sobs, and I tighten my hold on her. Iâm fuming with rage, but Iâm keeping my emotions under control for her sake.
âHeâs dead. Heâs never going to hurt you ever again. Youâre safe, baby girl,â I whisper. She tightens her arms around my neck, and I gently caress her blonde hair. âI love you. Hove you so much, Rosie. I was going out of my mind when I knew what happened.â
âI was so scared,â she whimpers, slowly pulling away from my embrace. She reaches for my hand, and I immediately intertwine our fingers together. She has the same marks around her wrists just like the girls, but hers are more reddish. âHe was so close to killing me when the police walked stormed inside the house he kept me in. I didnât want to die that young without making the family I had been dreaming about with you âYou wonât die young, cupcake.â I kiss her forehead. âWeâre going to grow old together and weâre going to make a beautiful family.â I bring myself beside her on the bed and she rests her head on my chest.
âThe girls are okay, right?â she asks, and I nod.
âTheyâre outside along with our parents. The doctor said that only one person could be here, so I snatched the opportunity to check on you. Youâre about to be taken to a room upstairs and youâll stay for just one day, then I will take you home tomorrow,â I fill her in, knowing how much she hates staying at the hospital. âYou ready to see them?â
âYes.â Despite the bruises on her face, she still looks beautiful as she smiles at me.
I know that she may need time to heal emotionally because what that asshole put her through wasnât easy, but as long as sheâs alive and breathing, I will always be grateful. Iâm going to give her all the help she may ever need to fully heal. Sheâs the love of my life and I will do anything to make her happy.
