A few years had passed, the art teacher and the student's relationship grew even stronger. Their bond was strong, revolving around late night talks and late night walks around the campus. She felt it, coursing between her veins that he also felt the same thing for her. It could've been possible...but that was until April 23, a Thursday morning. He went to school, a stupid grin plastered across his face--a beautiful artwork, she thought and he taught the class thoughtfully that day. He did it without even blinking an eye, just smiling, showing his perfectly white teeth and it made her feel fuzzy inside. Knowing he was happy made her happy as well. He talked and talked with all his might, endless words about the works of Turner and she listened and listened to every word that flowed out his perfectly carved mouth. The things he said about Turner that day were great, almost as if it was scripted--written in the most expensive kind of paper you could think of, with all of the brilliant ideas flowing out of his mouth. She was perfectly happy--especially when he told her to stay after class.

She could feel her heart beat with so much intensity against her chest to the point that it might finally explode. The excitement was eating her out. What could be the reason she was asked to stay? So many possibilities ran through her head and she felt herself being overwhelmed with butterflies. She watched the people walk out the class, tuning out their voices and only focusing to the beating of her foolish, little heart. The art teacher locked the door, once everyone was out and the beating of her heart intensified much further. She didn't know what to think or what do. She watched him walk towards her as she rubbed her sweaty palms against her skirt. This was it. This was finally it.

A piece of paper landed on top of her desk.

She looked up at him, "What?"

He still had that huge grin across his face and she almost sure it was permanent. His eyes flickered from the paper to her. She instantly got the message and looked down, only to find that it wasn't just any paper.

It was an envelope.

She took the envelope between her hands and she opened it gleefully, wanting to know what it reveals. She pulled a white card out of the envelope. Her eyes gleamed with joy at the sight and she looked up at him. He smiled at her and nodded towards the envelope, urging her to go on. She slid her fingertips between the card and opened it slowly.

Something was wrong.

You have been invited.

Oh no.

She read the words again and again until she couldn't take it anymore. She felt her mind going blank and she bolted out the door, leaving the art teacher there awestruck.
