"Speak now or forever hold your peace," the priest says in a loud, booming voice.
She was there clad in black, her eyes meeting his for the first time in a month. He felt his heart being overwhelmed with the fear that she might speak up. He kept his gaze locked on her as if pleading her not to do so and it was as if she read his mind. She shook her head and smiled.
He thought it was a malicious smile, or maybe a sweet smile with an underlying meaning. He wasn't sure what she'd do next but she didn't do anything.
She never did.
